Electronic transport properties of linear carbon chains encapsulated inside single-walled carbon nanotubes

  • Linear carbon chains (LCCs) encapsulated inside the hollow cores of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been experimentally synthesized and structurally characterized by Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. However, in terms of electronic conductivity, their transportation mechanism has not been investigated theoretically or experimentally. In this study, the density of states and quantum conductance spectra were simulated through density functional theory combined with the non-equilibrium Green function method. The encapsulated LCCs inside (5,5), (6,4), and (9,0) single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) exhibited a drastic change from metallic to semiconducting or from semiconducting to metallic due to the strong charge transfer between them. On the other hand, the electronic change in the conductance value of LCCs encapsulated inside the (7,4) SWCNT were in good agreement with the superposition of the individual SWCNTs and the isolated LCCs owing to the weak charge transfer.

DETERMINATION OF LONGISSIMUS MUSCLE AREA IN PIG WITH ULTRASONIC LINEAR ELECTRONIC SCANNER

  • The usefulness of a portable linear electronic scanner. B-mode ultrasonic machine, was evaluated for estimating the longissimus muscle area from ultrasonic measurement of the muscle depth in 22 live pigs. The electronic scanner was easy to operate for muscle measurements in live pigs, which did not have to be held but were caged. The cross-sectional images of longissimus muscle and covering muscles and fat appeared on the monitor with grey scale in real time. It was easy to identify the ultrasonograms of fat and muscular tissues because the images differed in the degree of the grey scale. The longissimus muscle had less echogenic image than the other muscles. The boundary lines between first, second or third layers of backfat and the longissimus muscle were distinct on the ultrasonogram. The ultrasonic measurement at the shoulder was not acceptable because of the unstable measurements and the complex tissue structure. The repeatabilities for the measurements of longissimus muscle depth at one-half body length and last rib were acceptable. The simple correlation coefficients between ultrasonic estimates of the muscle depth in live pigs and the actual areas in the carcass, were 0.50 and 0.55 at the last rib and the one-half body length, respectively. Therefore, those positions were similarly suitable to measure. The method of electronic scanner for determining longissimus muscle area from the muscle depth was suitable for practical use in the field because of the simple and inexpensive technique.

  • 유한한 기판크기가 E-평면으로 배열된 선형 위상 배열 안테나의 방사 특성에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 여러 가지 기판 크기에 따른 active reflection coefficient 와 average active element pattern 으로부터 선형 배열안테나의 방사특성을 예측하였다. E-평면과 만나는 기판 가장자리까지의 거리 변화가 H-평면과 만나는 기판 가장자리까지의 거리 변화에 비해 위상 배열 안테나의 방사 패턴 특성에 미치는 영향이 큰 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • 전자전(Electronic Warfare) 상황에서 레이다는 재머에 의해 전파교란공격(ECM: Electronic Counter Measures)을 받게 된다. Linear-FM 신호는 도플러 특성이 우수하고, 신호의 구현이 용이하여 레이다에서 주로 사용되어 왔지만, 반복된 패턴에 의해 피탐 확률이 높고, 신호 특성변수 추정이 가능하여 기만재밍에 취약하다. 최근 제안된 APCN(Advanced Pulse Compression Noise) 신호는 랜덤 진폭과 랜덤 위상코드로 이루어진 신호로서, 저피탐 성능이 우수한 신호이다. 하지만, APCN 신호를 비롯한 일반적인 위상코드 신호는 도플러 특성이 좋지 않으므로, 주파수 천이에 의해 신호수신 성능이 저하될 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 도플러 특성을 개선하기 위한 방안으로 랜덤 위상천이 및 부호율 천이(RPCR: Random Phase and Code Rate transition) 레이다 신호 파형을 제안하고, 도플러 성능과 저피탐 성능을 분석하였다. Ambiguity 함수를 이용하여 부호율 천이에 의한 도플러 특성 개선을 제시하며, WHT(Wigner-Hough Transform)을 이용한 신호 특성 변수 추정 실험을 통해 RPCR 신호의 저피탐 성능을 분석하고, 전파교란대응책(ECCM: Electronic Counter Counter Measures)으로의 가능성을 확인한다.

목표물 추정 향상을 위한 수정 선형 예측방법에 대한 연구 (A Study on Modified Linear Prediction Method to Improve Target Estimation)

  • 본 연구에서는 수정 선형예측방법으로 목표물의 신호를 정확히 추정하는 방법에 대해서 연구하였다. 선형예측방법은 임의의 안테나 배열소자를 다른 소자들과 선형 결합하여 도래방향 신호를 추정하는 방법이다. 수정 선형예측방법은 최적 가중치와 사후확률방법을 사용하였다. 모의실험을 이용하여 본 연구에서 제안한 방법과 Bartlett 및 MUSIC방법의 성능을 비교 분석하였다. 모의실험조건은 안테나 배열 소자 9개, 목표물 신호 4개[-5o, 0o, 5o, 10o]에서 방향을 추정한다. 모의실험에서 Bartlett과 MUSIC방법은 목표물 신호를 3개만 추정하였고, 본 연구에서 제안한 방법은 목표물 신호 4개를 모두 추정하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 방법이 기존의 Bartlett 과 MUSIC방법보다 분해능이 우수함을 나타내었다.

  • This paper proposes the optimized hardware architecture for a high performance image downscaler The proposed downscaler uses non-linear digital filters for horizontal and vertical scalings. In order to achieve the optimization, the filters are implemented with multiplexer-adder type scheme and all the filter coefficients are selected on the order of two's power. The performance of the scaler is also verified by comparing with a pixel drop downscaler. The proposed scaler is designed by using the VHDL and implemented by using the IDEC-C632 0.65$\mu\textrm{m}$ cell library.

  • This paper discusses a stochastic stabilization of Takagi-Sugeno (75) fuzzy system with Markovian input delay. The finite Markovian process is adopted to model the input delay of the overall control system. It is assumed that the zero and hold devices are used for control input. The continuous-time 75 fuzzy system with the Markovian input delay is discretized for easy handling delay, accordingly, the discretized 75 fuzzy system is represented by a discrete-time 75 fuzzy system with jumping parameters. The stochastic stabilizibility of the jump 75 fuzzy system is derived and formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMls).

  • This paper studies an intelligent digital control for nonlinear systems with multirate sampling. It is worth noting that the multirate control design is addressed for a given nonlinear system represented by Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models. The main features of the proposed method are that i) it is provided that the sufficient conditions for stabilization of the discrete-time T-S fuzzy system in the sense of Lyapunov stability criterion, which is can be formulated in the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs); and ii) the stability properties of the trivial solution of the digital control system can be deduced from that of the solution of its discretized versions. An example is provided for showing the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • By using FACS(Facial Action Coding System) and linear interpolation, a 3D facial robot simulator is developed in this paper. This simulator is based on real facial robot and synchronizes with it by unifying protocol. Using AUs(Action Unit) of each 5 basic expressions and linear interpolation makes more various dynamic facial expressions.
