Numerical Analysis on Heat Transfer and Fluid flow of Brake Shoe for Freight Car (화물열차용 제륜자의 열유동 해석)

  • Numerical simulation is conducted to clarify the heat transfer and fluid flow characteristics of brake shoe for freight car. High order up-wind scheme for governing equations, k-epsilon turbulent model and SIMPLEC algorithm based on finite volume method are used to solve the physical shoe model. The governing equations are solved by TDMA(Tri-Diagonal Matrix Algorithm) with line-by-line method and block correction. From the results of simulation, the characteristics of cooling pattern is strongly affected by the velocity of train and the material of shoe. The face lift of shoe affects on the temperature distribution of rear surface of shoe as well as the front surface of that. Due to the grooves in shoe, it will be expected to cool the frictional heat and result in the reduction of maintenance efforts.

  • In Korea, over 97% of local energy demand is imported from other countries. And we have to lift the energy independence level up to 5% with replacement energy (renewable energy) such as solar, small hydropower, etc. by 2011 according to the energy agreement made in Kyoto Protocol. So, we proposed some opinions such as the better improvement of small hydropower industry the people' view, cooperation among industry/university/research institutes, remote control/maintenance and goverment's legislature and supporting system etc.

  • Numerical simulation is conducted to clarify the heat transfer and fluid flow characteristics of brake disk-lining for rolling stock. Multiple rotational reference frame, k-epsilon turbulent model and SIMPLE algorithm based on finite volume method are used to solve the physical disk-lining model. The governing equations are solved by TDMA(TriDiagonal Matrix Algorithm) with line-by-line method and block correction, From the results of simulation, the characteristics of cooling pattern is strongly affected by the grooves in lining. The face lift of lining affects on the temperature distribution of rear surface of lining as well as the front surface of that. Due to the grooves in lining, it will be expected to extend the maintenance life circle of lining.

  • To clarify the anesthetic effect of acupoint injection(aquapupuncture) using general anasthetics in dogs, 18 mongrel dogs were divided into control and two experimental groups(Tian-ping+Bai-hui : Tian-ping group and San-yang-luo+Gong-sun group : San -yang- lux group). Control group was intramuscularly injected with ketamine hydrochloride, 22 mg/ kg of body weight into the thigh and experimental groups were injected into each acupoint with half volume of dosage, respectively. Clinical findings(recumbency time, induction time of anesthesia, time of head lift and standing time) and changes of vital sign(temperature, heart rate and respiration rate) were investigates at pre-anesthesia, during anesthesia and poststanding, respectively. In recumbency time San-yang-luo groupui<0.05) and Tian-ping group (p<0.05) were faster than that of control, respectively and Tian-ping group was the fastest. The Implementation of a Lift Emergency Video Call System based on WebRTC using OpenAPI

  • In this paper, we present a WebRTC-based emergency video call system structure that builds a service system in a constant monitoring environment to increase the usability and stability of elevator emergency call devices. The proposed system provides a smooth call environment between the emergency call system in the elevator and maintenance managers in case of an emergency, performs rapid response processing to elevator emergency calls through monitoring of the target elevator, and handles any emergency calls that may occur in the physical space of the elevator. The purpose is to build an environment that can implement low-latency, real-time video call services of voice and video by overcoming the physical constraints required for video calls. To this end, we have established a service environment based on OpenAPI, which is currently used in various fields and its performance has been proven, and provides video calls and emergency situation dissemination through rapid messaging by providing low-latency call quality. The presented system structure will be able to provide a basis for expanding various functions and constructing a reliable service environment and intelligent model for the elevator system through combination with the elevator control panel and various devices.

Aerodynamic performance evaluation of different cable-stayed bridges with composite decks

  • The aerodynamic performance of long-span cable-stayed bridges is much dependent on its geometrical configuration and countermeasure strategies. In present study, the aerodynamic performance of three composite cable-stayed bridges with different tower configurations and passive aerodynamic countermeasure strategies is systematically investigated by conducting a series of wind tunnel tests in conjunction with theoretical analysis. The structural characteristics of three composite bridges were firstly introduced, and then their stationary aerodynamic performance and wind-vibration performance (i.e., flutter performance, VIV performance and buffeting responses) were analyzed, respectively. The results show that the bridge with three symmetric towers (i.e., Bridge I) has the lowest natural frequencies among the three bridges, while the bridge with two symmetric towers (i.e., Bridge II) has the highest natural frequencies. Furthermore, the Bridge II has better stationary aerodynamic performance compared to two other bridges due to its relatively large drag force and lift moment coefficients, and the improvement in stationary aerodynamic performance resulting from the application of different countermeasures is limited. In contrast, it demonstrates that the application of both downward vertical central stabilizers (UDVCS) and horizontal guide plates (HGP) could potentially significantly improve the flutter and vortex-induced vibration (VIV) performance of the bridge with two asymmetric towers (i.e., Bridge III), while the combination of vertical interquartile stabilizers (VIS) and airflow-depressing boards (ADB) has the capacity of improving the VIV performance of Bridge II.

  • This study was carried out with two goals. One was the development of a model of a wind turbine blade airfoil and the other was the application of this folding blade. In general, in large-sized (MW) wind turbines, damage is prevented because of the use of a pitch control system. On the other hand, pitch control is not performed in small wind turbines since equipment costs and maintenance costs are high, and therefore, the blade will cause serious damage. The wind turbine proposed in this study does not require maintenance, and the blades do not break during high winds because they are folded in accordance with changes in the wind speed. But generators are not cut-out, while maintaining a constant angle will continue to produce. The focus of this study, the wind turbine is continued by folding blade system in strong winds and gusts without stopping production.

  • In a long-span bridge, the cables are important elements that support the load of the bridge. Accordingly, the cable tension is a very important variable in evaluating the health and safety of the bridge. The most popular methods of estimating the cable tensions are the direct method, which directly measures the cable stresses using load cells, hydraulic jacking devices, etc., and the vibration method, which inverses the tensions using the cable shapes and the measured dynamic characteristics. Studies on the use of the electromagnetic (EM) sensor, which detects the magnetic field variations caused by the change in the stress of the steel in the cable, are increasing. In this study, the lift-off test, the EM sensor, and the vibration method (Vision-based System and Accelerometer) were used to measure cable tension, and their results were compared and analyzed.

  • Recently, Elevator industry is pursuing new challenges to the model of the IT convergence. The core of the convergence technologies may be the effective control and maintenance of the machine. However, because current elevator management model provides each specific model for his elevator, the management models have a variety of heterogeneous configuration so that it makes management companies to manage the elevators with many overhead. In this paper, we propose the integration framework for the various elevator models. We use proposed system based on the Android framework that is rapidly expanding technology in the embedded environment, and we propose design approach for the integration of variety of lift devices so that it provide a more efficient and stable service environment. In this way, we could integrate various device models of an elevator for the management and maintenance effectively and quickly.

  • The high temperature creep behavior of heat machine systems such as aircraft engines, boilers and turbines in power plants and nuclear reactor components have been considered as an important and needful fact. There are considerable research results available for the design of high temperature tube materials in power plants. However, few studies on the Initial Strain Method (ISM) capable of securing repair, maintenance, cost loss and life loss have been made. In this method, 3 long time prediction Of high temperature creep characteristics can be dramatically induced through a short time experiment. The purpose of present study is to investigate the high temperature creep lift of Udimet 720, SCM 440-STD61 and 1Cr-0.5Mo steel using the ISM. The creep test was performed at 40$0^{\circ}C$ to $700^{\circ}C$ under a pure loading. In the prediction of creep life for each materials, the equation of ISM was superior of Larson-Miller Parameter(LMP). Especially, the long time prediction of creep life was identified to improve the reliability.
