응력상태를 고려한 사질토지반에 관입된 말뚝의 극한수평지지력 분석 및 평가 (Estimation of Pile Ultimate Lateral Load Capacity in Sand Considering Lateral Stress Effect)

  • 본 연구에서는 수평하중을 받는 말뚝을 대상으로 응력상태에 따른 극한수평지지력의 변화추이를 분석하였으며, 이를 토대로 다양한 응력상태를 고려할 수 있는 극한수평지지력의 평가방법을 제안하였다. 이를 통해 기존의 수평지지력 평가방법에 있어 제한되었던 응력효과의 고려가 가능하게 되었으며, 지반조건 및 시공조건 등에 따른 지반응력 변화를 보다 효과적으로 반영할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 이를 위해 모래질 지반을 대상으로 모형토조에서 수행된 말뚝의 수평재하시험결과가 사용되었으며, 토조실험에는 다양한 범위의 응력상태가 고려되었다. 분석결과, 말뚝의 극한수평지지력은 수직응력 및 수평응력 모두에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났으나, 수평응력에 따라 더욱 민감하게 변화하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 극한수평지지지력이 발휘되는 변위량의 수준은 지반조건에 따라 달랐으며, 상대밀도가 50%범위에서는 상대변위량 14%내외, 86%내외에서는 18-25%정도의 상대변위량을 나타내었다. 본 연구결과에 근거하여 극한수평지지력 평가를 위한 수평토압보정계수가 제안되었으며, 제안된 평가법에 의한 예측치는 다양한 응력조건에 대해 실측치와 유사한 결과를 나타내었다.

An experimental study on strengthening of vulnerable RC frames with RC wing walls

  • One of the most popular and commonly used strengthening techniques to protect against earthquakes is to infill the holes in reinforced concrete (RC) frames with fully reinforced concrete infills. In some cases, windows and door openings are left inside infill walls for architectural or functional reasons during the strengthening of reinforced concrete-framed buildings. However, the seismic performance of multistory, multibay, reinforced concrete frames that are strengthened by reinforced concrete wing walls is not well known. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the experimental behavior of vulnerable multistory, multibay, reinforced concrete frames that were strengthened by introducing wing walls under a lateral load. For this purpose, three 2-story, 2-bay, 1/3-scale test specimens were constructed and tested under reversed cyclic lateral loading. The total shear wall (including the column and wing walls) length and the location of the bent beam bars were the main parameters of the experimental study. According to the test results, the addition of wing walls to reinforced concrete frames provided significantly higher ultimate lateral load strength and higher initial stiffness than the bare frames did. While the total shear wall length was increased, the lateral load carrying capacity and stiffness increased significantly.

복합말뚝 연결부 안정성 평가 및 수평거동특성 분석 (Joint Stability and lateral behavior of composite piles)

  • The behavior of composite piles composed of steel pipe pile in the upper part and concrete pile in the lower part by a mechanical splicing joint was examined by field lateral load tests and bending tests. A total of 7 piles including two instrumented piles for bending test were installed. The soil profile consists of soft clay with weak silt with shallow groundwater level. Laboratory tests were carried out to determine the basic soil characteristics and the strength parameters. This paper presents the composite pile behavior with various portions of the upper steel pile: 0, 20, 30, and 45% of the pile embedded pile length. Three-point bending tests were performed to investigate the stress-strain relation at the mechanical joint. Based on these test results, the behavior of composite piles with various upper steel pile length are evaluated and the stability of mechanical joints are examined. Through comparisons with results of field load tests, it was found that lateral load carrying capacity of the composite piles increased and deflections of the composite piles decreased with increasing the upper steel piles. The mechanical joint was proved to retain its structural stability against the tested load conditions. Economical benefits of composite pile of this kind can be gained by setting adequately the length of the upper steel pipe piles.

  • 본 연구에서는 점토지반에 근입된 송전철탑 연결형 기초를 대상으로 모형수평재하시험을 수행하고, 연결형 기초의 파괴기준을 제안하였다. 본 연구를 위해 전라북도 익산에 위치한 점토지반에서 연결형 기초의 모형수평재하시험을 수행하였으며, 연결형 기초의 하중-변위특성을 분석하였다. 본 실험을 위해, 강성의 변화를 고려할 수 있는 연결형 기초 모형체를 제작하였으며, 요소 및 기초전반의 거동을 파악하기 위하여 다양한 계측장치를 설치하여 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과를 토대로, 연결형 기초의 지지력을 측정하고 비교 분석하였으며, 수평지지력 결정을 위한 파괴기준을 제안하였다.

Seismic behavior of composite walls with encased steel truss

  • This paper studies the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) walls with encased cold-formed and thin-walled (CFTW) steel truss, which can be used as an alternative to the conventional RC walls or steel reinforced concrete (SRC) composite walls for high-rise buildings in high seismic regions. Seven one-fourth scaled RC wall specimens with encased CFTW steel truss were designed, manufactured and tested to failure under reversed cyclic lateral load and constant axial load. The test parameters were the axial load ratio, configuration and volumetric steel ratio of encased web brace. The behaviors of the test specimens, including damage formation, failure mode, hysteretic curves, stiffness degradation, ductility and energy dissipation, were examined. Test results indicate that the encased web braces can effectively improve the ductility and energy dissipation capacity of RC walls. The steel angles are more suitable to be used as the web brace than the latticed batten plates in enhancing the ductility and energy dissipation. Higher axial load ratio is beneficial to lateral load capacity, but can result in reduced ductility and energy dissipation capacity. A volumetric ratio about 0.25% of encased web brace is believed cost-effective in ensuring satisfactory seismic performance of RC walls. The axial load ratio should not exceed the maximum level, about 0.20 for the nominal value or about 0.50 for the design value. Numerical analyses were performed to predict the backbone curves of the specimens and calculation formula from the Chinese Code for Design of Composite Structures was used to predict the maximum lateral load capacity. The comparison shows good agreement between the test and predicted results.

횡방향 가력실험 및 충격실험을 통한 강판콘크리트(SC) 전단벽의 감쇠비 평가 (Investigation of Damping Ratio of Steel Plate Concrete (SC) Shear Wall by Lateral Loading Test & Impact Test)

  • Steel plate concrete (SC) composite structure is now being recognized as a promising technology applicable to nuclear power plants as it is faster and suitable for modular construction. It is required to identify its dynamic characteristics prior to perform the seismic design of the SC structure. Particularly, the damping ratio of the structure is one of the critical design factors to control the dynamic response of structure. This paper compares the criteria for the damping ratios of each type of structures which are prescribed in the regulatory guide for the nuclear power plant. In order to identify the damping ratio of SC shear wall, this study made SC wall specimens and conducted experiments by cyclic lateral load tests and vibration tests with impact hammer. During the lateral loading test, SC wall specimens exhibited large ductile capacities with increasing amplitude of loading due to the confinement effects by the steel plate and the damping ratios increased until failure. The experimental results show that the damping ratios increased from about 6% to about 20% by increasing the load from the safe shutdown earthquake level to the ultimate strength level.

  • BNWF(Beam on Nonlinear Winkler Foundation) method has long been adopted for lateral behavior analysis of pile foundation and widely recognized for its simplicity and accuracy up until now. However, due to lateral load tests which were done in limited conditions and theory-based input Parameter estimation, the applicbility of p-y curve has not been fully examined. Accordingly, we researched on the applicability of conventional input parameter estimation and the p-y curve to be determined by the estimation through inverse analysis based on lateral load tests.

  • 연약 점성토 지반에 성토를 할 경우 과도한 침하와 측방유동으로 인한 피해를 최소화하기 위해 토목섬유/성토지지말뚝공법이 주로 사용되고 있다. 본 공법은 연약지반 층을 관통하여 지지층에 관입시킴으로써 상재하중을 지지하게 하여 상재하중으로 인한 침하와 측방유동 발생을 최소화한다. 본 연구에서는 연약 점성토 지반에 설치된 토목섬유/성토지지말뚝공법의 보강효과를 정량적으로 검토함을 목적으로 하였다. 실내모형실험을 통하여 무보강 및 성토지지말뚝 보강의 경우에 대한 지반 거동을 재현하고 성토지지말뚝에 의한 측방유동 억지효과를 분석하였다. 이때 성토지지말뚝을 설치한 경우에 대해서는 상재하중의 크기를 다르게 설정하여 완속 재하와 급속 재하의 경우에 대한 측방유동의 억지효과를 분석하였다.

주조체의 설계 변화에 따른 수지접착형 보철물의 접착강도에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE BOND STRENGTH OF RESIN-RETAINED PROTHESIS WITH VARIOUS CAST RETAINER DESIGNS)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of some resistance form designs on the bond strength of resin-retained prosthesis. Six sub-groups are designed in natural teeth group and resin teeth group . The framework designs in natural teeth group: 1) no groove preparation 2) groove at the center of distal surface 3) groove at the distobuccal line angle 4) 45 degree lateral load with no groove 5) 45 degree lateral load with center groove 6) splint two teeth with no groove. The framework designs in resin teeth group: 1) no groove preparation 2) groove at the center of distal surface 3) groove at the distobuccal line angle 4) metal covered the 1/2 of distal surface 5) metal covered the 1/2 of mesial surface 6) metal extended over the 114 of buccal surface. Specimens were treated electrolytic etching by Oxy-Etch and cemented with Panavia EX. Failure load was measured by Instron. Another 30 specimens were carried out fatigue tests by MTS 810 fatigue testing machine for 5000 cycles at different load level. The following results were obtained from this study. 1. The failure load was significantly increased by resistance forms. 2. The failure load was not increased by increase of total surface area bonded with teeth. The distal surface area played an important role in failure load. 3. In 45 degree lateral load group, the failure load was decreased significantly than that of in vertical load group. 4. Bond failure modes between static test and fatigue test exhibited no differences.

편토압 및 측압이 터널거동에 미치는 영향 (Influence of eccentric load and lateral earth pressure on the tunnel behavior)

  • 본 연구에서는 축소모형실험을 통하여 편토압 및 측압이 터널 거동에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 모형실험 결과의 타당성은 수치해석을 통하여 검토하였다. 터널에 작용하는 편토압을 감소시킬 수 있는 방안으로 편향 배치된 지보구조를 제안하고 이 방안의 적용성을 검토하였다. 실험 결과, 편향 배치된 지보구조를 적용함으로서 발생되는 변위가 전체적으로 줄어들었고, 초기 균열이 발생되는 하중도 증가되었다. 또한 터널의 안정성에 크게 문제가 되는 최대 편압 수직하중 역시 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 터널에 작용하는 측압의 영향을 검토한 결과, 측압계수의 변화에 따라 변위 발생 양상 및 균열 발생 양상이 매우 변화함을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 안정성 측면에서 취약점을 나타내는 부분도 변화함을 알 수 있었다.
