The Moderating Effects of Social Support between Job Stress and Job Satisfaction in Staff Nurses (임상간호사의 직무 스트레스와 직무만족도에 대한 사회적 지지의 조절효과)

  • Purpose: This paper was attempted to focused on the analysis of job stress and job satisfaction according to the moderating effects of social support. Method: Data collected from 302 staff nurses in 2 general hospitals, with self-reporting questionnaires(Wolfgang's HPSI, modified Hagihara's social support, and MSQ). Descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, Pearson correlation, ANOVA, and moderated regression analysis were used. Result: The subjects exhibited significantly highest level of 'the work and patients' conditions'. The perceived job stress was negatively correlated with supervisor and co-workers' support, and job satisfactions. Also supervisor and coworkers' support were positively correlated with job satisfactions. The main factor that affected the job satisfactions was 'work and patient conditions' and it was explained 35.5% out of the total variance of the job satisfactions with 'the work load and disturbing factor', 'supervisor support' and 'co-workers' support'. Supervisor support moderated the relationships between 'the patient care responsibilities and career development factor' and satisfaction. Conclusion: For developing the stress management program for hospital nurses, 'the work and patients' conditions', and the strategies of strengthening 'supervisor and co-workers' support' should be considered. In addition to, it may be considered to examine the effects of social support on the other criterion variables.

The Effects of Service Orientation and Job Satisfaction to Customer Orientation and Business Performance in Medical Service Organizations (의료기관의 서비스지향성과 종업원 직무만족이 고객지향성과 경영성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This empirical research examined the effects of organizational service orientations on business performance since the service orientations had been considered very importantly for delivering excellent service quality in many studies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among service orientations, customer orientations, employees' job satisfactions and business performance in medical service organizations. A model and hypotheses on the basis of this model were developed. And data from employees in medical service organizations were collected using questionnaires. Respondents were asked to related variables of their organizations. A total of 217 questionnaires collected were used to test hypotheses. The results obtained were as follows; first, service orientation factors had a positive significant effect on customer orientations, employees' job satisfactions and business performances. Second, employees' job satisfaction had a positive significant effect on their customer orientations. Third, customer orientations and employees' job satisfactions had a positive significant effect on business performances. Thus, it is advisable for managers or operators to emphasize service orientations in medical service organizations. This study is specific to ambulatory service in a medical service organizations, so generalizing the results to other area may not be possible. Although this study may help to guide the roles of service orientations, customer orientations, employee satisfactions and business performances in medical service organizations, future studies should consider other relative variables.

The Effects of the Job Stresses on Turnover Intentions and Job Satisfactions (해군함정 승조원들의 직무스트레스가 이직 및 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the job stresses perceived by R.O.K. naval crews on turnover intentions and job satisfactions. Especially, this study aims to derive the policy implication for the trait characteristics by comparing the job attitude between the surface naval ship and submarine crew. For this purpose, we surveyed 1,000 naval crews. Then, multiple regression analysis was performed. Next, a T-test was conducted to test statistical significance of group differences. First, the job stresses perceived by naval crews were higher in the order of physical environments, overworks, compensation incompetence, lacks of autonomy, and conflicts with people. Second, the job stresses perceived by submarine crews were higher than that of surface naval ship crews. It was also proved statistically significant by the T-test. Third, the physical environments, lacks of autonomy, conflicts of relativity, and inadequate compensation stress have a positive statistically significant effect on turnover intentions of naval crews. Fourth, lacks of autonomy, conflicts of relativity, and inadequate compensation factors have a statistically significant negative effect on the job satisfactions of naval crews. Finally, multiple regression analysis was performed between the independent and dependent variables of the naval crews, and the policy implications were derived.

Influence of Working Environment and Conditions on the Job Satisfactions of Librarians (도서관의 근무환경과 근무조건이 직원의 직무만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzes the influences of the working environments and conditions(job cooperation, working condition, stress, compensation and reward, and achievement) on the job satisfactions, and the differences for the staff members to perceive them among staff members according to demographic variables. One hundred staff members of K library were participated in the survey using questionnaires. There were significant differences in the perceptions on the stress, compensation and reward, and achievement according to demographic variables. The job cooperation and achievement among work environments and conditions significantly influenced on the job satisfactions of the staff members.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the structure relationships between job satisfaction of dental residents and its related factors. The study subject was 458 dental residents who were training at 6 university dental hospitals in Korea. Data for this study were obtained by self-administrated questionnaire during 3 months. Structure equation modeling using LISREL procedure was statistically appropriate and well fitted. By the model, the socio-demographic characteristics, working condition, and status perception directly influenced on subscale satisfactions, and the subscale satisfactions positively influenced on job satisfaction.

Dual-career Couples' Role Expectations Role Conflicts and Marital Satisfactions (맞벌이 부부의 역할기대 및 역할 갈등과 결혼만족도)

  • The purposes of this article are to find out general trends of dual-career couples' role expectations role conflicts and marital satisfactions and to estimate the differences according to related variables and to analyze the effects of indepedent variables on ole conflicts and marital satisfactions. For these objectives two kinds of questionaire were used and the data were obtained through 169 dual-career couples. The results were as follows; The results were as follows; 1) Dual-career couples' role expectations and marital satisfactions were relatively high but role conflicts were not. Husbands' role expectations were higher than them of wives but wive's role conflicts and marital satisfactions were higher than them of husbands. 2) Dual-career couples' role expectations role conflicts and marital satisfcations were significantly different by communication role related variables and job related variables. 3) Husbands' role conflicts and marital satisfactions were significantly influenced by communication satisfaction and role expectations,. Wives' role conflicts and marital satisfactions were significantly influenced by communication satisfaction husbands' housework aid and role expectations.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of safety culture on job satisfaction and organizational commitment and mediation effect of Organizational trust between independent variable and two dependent variables. Based on the responses from 290 employees, the results reveals ; 1) Organizational safety culture has a positive effect on the job satisfactions and organizational safety culture effect positively on the organizational commitment 2) Organizational trust mediates the relationships between safety culture and job satisfaction. 3) Organizational trust mediates the relationships between safety culture and organizational commitment.

  • The purpose of this study is to demonstrate moderating effect of communications on job satisfactions by an emotional intelligence and conflict-relations of employees and to investigate the influence on job satisfactions by an emotional intelligence and conflict-relations of employees in a long-term care facilities. The results were analyzed from the final responses of 379 employees who are working in a long-term care facilities in Gyeong-Gi Province by SPSS 18.0. The method used in this study were factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, hierarchical regression analysis, moderated regression analysis. The results of this study are as in the following. First, these consequences showed that an emotional intelligence is positively related with job satisfaction among others' emotional appraisal, use of emotion, regulation of emotion and self emotional appraisal. Second, these results are observed that the conflicts of client's protector and superior is negatively related with job satisfaction. Third, these data are convinced that the communications have a partial effects among conflict, relationship and compensation.

  • The purpose of this study is to help improvements of education and effective management of school organization by grasping interrelationship between middle school teachers' job satisfaction and their teaching profession consciousness based on the different levels of professional socialization. To accomplish the purpose stated above, two questions were selected. First, how different are the middle school teachers' teaching profession consciousness according to the different levels of professional socialization? Second, how different are the middle school teachers' job satisfactions according to the levels of professional socialization. To answer these questions, a theoretical investigation into previous studies was made, and survey method was adopted for the inquiry. 500 questionnaires were given to teachers of 14 middle schools in Busan Metropolitan City, 470 questionnaires were collected. The results of the analysis may be summarized as follows: First, the teaching profession consciousness of middle school teachers show high level. Especially, there are much difference of teaching profession consciousness between the period of adaptation and maturity. Second, job satisfaction of middle school teachers show low level, and the job satisfaction points of compensations, school administrations, changes of educational environments are lower than the points of human relations, extension of profession, stress of duties. Especially, there are much difference between the period of adaptation and growth, adaptation and maturity, growth and maturity, growth and mellowness.

A Study on the Curricular Satisfactions and Curriculum Improvements of the Students majoring in Clinical Pathology

  • This study aims to analysis the curriculum problems and its improvements and to investigate curricula satisfaction among the students majoring in Clinical Pathology. A college used as a population, and 80 effective survey data were collected by sampling the graduates who carried out the clinical field training in third grade year. For statistical analysis of the collected data, the Stata(version 12.0) statistical package was used for frequency analysis, pearson correlations test and multiple regression analysis. The results of the analysis were as follows; First, the result showed that the synthetical theory curriculum has an positive effect on curricula satisfaction. Second, it was found that extension of both the clinical field training and laboratory and practice education have an significant influence direction of positiveness on curricula satisfaction. Third, as the problems of curriculum, the students selected shortage of english subjects connected with the job. We must intensify additional subjects (english ability) for job as the improvement of curriculum. Accordingly, academic, industrial circles and students are supposed to jointly seek for the plan for the enhancement of clinical field training satisfaction.
