A Study on the Job Satisfaction and Organization Commitment of Employees according to the School Food Service Environments (학교급식 환경에 따른 급식조리사의 직무 만족과 조직 몰입에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the job satisfaction and organization commitment of employees according to the school food service environments. The questionnaire to measure was completed by 150 employees in the Seoul and Gyeonggi area. The demographic data showed that 48.7% of respondents were in their fifties and most of them were females(96.6%). They were employed in the middle and high schools. The results were as follows : Frist, factors that influenced job satisfaction were student preference and rule-observance. Second, the importance of school food service environments didn't influence the compensation factor for job satisfaction. Third, factors that influenced job satisfaction among school food service environments were kindliness and the management of employees and rule-observance. Rule-observance showed the highest satisfaction scores among the rest of them. Forth, it was concluded that the management of employees, food quality and student preference influenced the organization commitment of food service employees. The research results show that rule-observance of food service environments and the importance of managing employees have influence on co-worker relations, job and organization commitment.

A Study on the Job Satisfactions of School Food Service Employees (학교 급식 종사자의 직무만족도에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to identify factors affecting the job satisfaction of cook(n= 173) employed in school food service and to propose a plan to improve school foodservice quality. The subjects were cook employed by school in Chungchon province, Gwangju area. The average of cook's job satisfaction was 3.06, the rank factor for nature of work(4.25). the co-workers(3.28), the organic environment(3.17), promotion welfare payment(2.31), the physical environment(2.29) shown respectively. The highest satisfaction with nature of work and organic environment was indicated in the areas of the group of higher age, and cooks who received college education showed significantly lower job satisfaction in physical environment. The highest satisfaction for promotion welfare payment, and physical environment shown in the group of higher length of service who receive higher wages. The groups of regular job shown higher result in the nature of work(3.46>2.94), organic environment(3.46>2.94), promotion welfare payment(2.88>1.94) comparing to irregular job. It is necessary to elevate cook's low satisfaction for improving their work efficiency and the quality of elementary school foodservice.

  • Competitions among domestic foodservice businesses get more intense as the presence of new competitors has rapidly increased. For the past decade, our domestic foodservice industry has shown outstanding growth and overcome poor industrial environments. The poor work conditions employees suffer from will cause negative effects on organization values and effectiveness. Although facing severe problems, most of foodservice businesses do not take aggressive counteraction to eliminate these issues. With this in mind, the study has been implemented to empirically investigate the effects of the foodservice business on organization values and organization effectiveness and then to utilize the findings of the study to develop various marketing strategies for the foodservice industry. The findings of the study were as follows: first, with respect to the effects among organization values, job satisfaction, and organization loyalty, the organization value was found to have positive effects both on job satisfaction, and organization loyalty. The findings demonstrated that the levels of job satisfaction and organization loyalty of employees may be increased by promoting organization values, as positive relationships were found between organization values, job satisfaction, and organization loyalty of employees. second, organization values were found to have a positive effect on organization loyalty. Therefore, job satisfaction should be considered as a key factor for achieving overall organizational loyalty of employees in the foodservice industry.

The effect influence of job satisfaction on turnover intention in dental hygienists (치과위생사들의 직무만족도가 이직의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of job satisfaction on turnover intention in dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 169 dental hygienists in Gwangju from June 1 to December 31, 2014. Data analysis was performed with t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis using SPSS WIN version 21.0 program. Results: By Likert 5 points scale, mean of job satisfaction was $3.08{\pm}0.35$ points, mean of personal relationship was $3.35{\pm}0.55$ points, and monthly compensation and promotion were $2.91{\pm}0.63$ points and mean of autonomy was $2.79{\pm}0.70$ points. Job satisfaction was the highest in those who were married and over 30 years old. Job satisfaction was highest in those who worked in the general hospitals and had longer career as a dental hygienist. Mean of the turnover intention was $3.31{\pm}0.81$ points. The factors of job satisfaction and turnover intention had the inverse correlation. The influencing factor of turnover intention(${\beta}=-0.327$) were monthly compensation, promotion, job satisfaction(${\beta}=-0.301$), and satisfaction for the location of the job(${\beta}=-0.157$). Conclusions: Turnover intention of dental hygienists is closely related to economic compensation, promotion, working department, and location of the job.

  • There will be many changes in job consciousness and job satisfaction due to changes in various job fields and social interests, and it is necessary to manage them efficiently for the organization to continue to grow. By analyzing factors influencing job satisfaction by occupation, the study intended to provide the necessary data for an efficient management plan. 400 Employees working at S tertiary hospital in Seoul from April 1st to April 15th, 2015 were targeted. An analysis of the validity and reliability of the influencing factors was conducted, and the allied health profession which showed the highest level of satisfaction in overall job satisfaction and influencing factors were identified. It was found that achievement, compensation and working environment in the medical doctor profession, achievement, compensation and job stability in the nursing profession, achievement and working environment in the allied health profession, achievement, interpersonal relationships, working environment, and job stability in the administrative profession, were the main influencing factors for job satisfaction. It can be seen that not only motivation factors but also hygiene factors affect job satisfaction. To increase the level of satisfaction, it is judged that systematic management of hygiene factors as well as motivation factors is necessary.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the internal reputation factors that affect the job satisfaction by big data analysis in the social media for corporate reputation and verify the difference between large corporations and small-medium corporations for each factor of internal reputation. The result showed 'Salaries and Benefits' is a major factor that affects the job satisfaction for all research corporations, 'Senior Management' is a major factor for large corporations, and 'Salaries and Benefits' is a major factor for small-medium corporations. As for the difference factors of large corporations and small-medium corporations are 'Job Satisfaction', 'Salaries and Benefits', and 'Work-life Balance'. Unstructured data analysis shows some interesting features to be studied further.

The Influence of Compensation Justice on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment Perceived by Hospital Personnels (종합병원 종사자의 보상공정성 지각이 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to identity the effects of distributive justice and procedural justice on job satisfaction and organizational commitment in hospital personnels. Method: The subjects were 181 employee who were working at 4 hospitals in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. Data was collected using structured questionnaire from Oct 4 to 24, 2007. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 12.0 program for descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression. Result: The mean score of distributive justice was 3.24, procedural justice was 3.05, job satisfaction was 2.73 and organizational commitment was 2.65. The distributive justice(37.5%) and gender(1.6%) explained 39.1% of the variables in the job satisfaction. The organizational commitment was significantly influenced by distributive justice(27.8%), age(8.9%), procedural justice(2.8%) and gender(2.4%). These factors explained 41.8% of the variables in the organizational commitment. Conclusion: The distributive justice is the most important factor in promoting job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Therefore, It is necessary to operate proper compensation system based on fair performance evaluation of workers in hospital.

Analysis of School Foodservice Managers' Job Satisfaction by Organizational Culture and Commitment in Jeju (제주지역 학교급식 관리자의 조직문화 및 조직몰입에 따른 직무만족도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the job satisfaction of foodservice managers at schools in Jeju, Korea, according to the organizational culture and commitment of the school foodservice and administrative departments. The subjects included 144 (98.6%) dieticians from Jeju schools. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, ttests, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients, using the SPSS Win 12.0 program. In terms of organizational culture, the dieticians perceived the 'human relations model' and 'internal process model' as the strongest types for the school foodservice departments and administrative departments, respectively. However, for both types, a gap existed between the organizational culture that was perceived and that which was expected. In particular, the subjects expected that the 'human relations model' and 'open systems model' were the most important organizational culture types. In terms of the subjects' organizational commitment scores, loyalty and pride scored highest whereas unity scored lowest. For the level of job satisfaction, the performed work itself scored highest and was deemed most important. Additionally, organizational culture was positively correlated to the factors affecting organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Finally, the surveyed managers had high demands for a human relations-oriented organizational culture to enhance job satisfaction.

The Social Support and the Job Satisfaction of the Public Health Nurse in Health Centers in Seoul (서울시 보건소 간호사의 사회적 지지도와 직무만족도)

  • In order to investigate the social support and the job satisfaction of the public health nurse, questionnaire survey was carried out on 297 nurses who were working in 25 public health centers in Seoul. The results of the study were as follows; 1. Mean score of job satisfaction was the highest in interaction(3.55) followed by-professional position(3.46), relationship between nurses and doctors(3.23), autonomy(2.85), administration(2.60), requirements(2.43) and pay(2.30) in descending order, and total mean score was 2.92. 2. The level of the job satisfaction was significantly higher in group with longer than 20 years' career and 15 years' in Public Health Center, 5th job rank and income more than two million won a month. 3. The mean score of social support was 3.57 out of 5. The social support tended to be higher in direct social support(3.61) than in indirect social support(3.54). 4. Job satisfaction was significantly correlated with social support(r=0.407). 5. The primary factor which influenced the job satisfaction was the social support which had the 25.5% explaining efficacy. The total explaining efficacy which included pay(6.4%) was 31.0%. In conclusion, it was found out that there existed Pearson's correlation between the job satisfaction and the social support of nurses of Public Health Centers in Seoul. Therefore, what is needed to increase the job satisfaction of nurses of public Health Centers is the politic support for the systems of the social support such as nurse's family, the system of Public Health Center, and the working environment. Finally it is important to increase the job satisfaction of nurses of Public Health Centers through the politic support.

The Effects of Sales Services and Organizational Member Relationships of Fashion Brand Salesperson on Job Performance and Job Satisfaction (패션브랜드 판매원의 판매서비스와 조직구성원 관계가 직무성과와 직무만족에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to reveal the effects of sales services and organizational member relationships of fashion brand salespersons on job performance and job satisfaction, as well as how job performance, job satisfaction, salesperson services, and organizational member relationships differ according to the sales career and job position. The data were collected by administering a questionnaire to fashion brand salespeople in Gwangju from September to October 2020. Using 235 responses, the data were analyzed with SPSS 27.0 for frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, factor analysis, and regression analysis. The research results were as follows. First, the basic services of the salesperson comprised factors such as 'consideration and convenience', 'appearance and dress', and 'kindness and greeting', which are considered better variables to explain job performance than job satisfaction. Second, the salesperson's professional service consisted of 'fashion product knowledge', 'professional self-management', and 'store display technology' factors, which are good variables to predict job performance. Third, the relationship between the members of a salesperson's organization consists of factors such as 'headquarters relations', 'colleague relations', and 'emotional labor', which was better for explaining job satisfaction than job performance. Fourth, depending on the position, professional salespeople exhibited significantly higher values in job performance, basic and professional services of salespersons, and 'headquarters relations' factors, whereas there were no significant differences in job satisfaction, 'colleague relations' and 'emotional labor'. Lastly, the more sales career, the higher the job performance, and the basic services, professional services, and 'headquarters relations' factors of salespeople were also good.
