  • This paper presents a solution to the inverse problem for the service boundary conditions of thermal-flow and structure analysis in a catalyst substrate. The exhaust-gas purification efficiency of a catalyst substrate is influenced by the shape parameter, catalyst ingredients and so on and is estimated by the thermal flow uniformity. The formulations of the inverse problem of obtaining the thermal-flow parameters (inlet temperature, velocity, heat of reaction, convective heat-transfer coefficient) and the direct problem of estimating from a given outlet temperature distribution are described. An experiment was designed and the response-surface optimization technique was used to solve the proposed inverse problem. The temperature distribution of the catalyst substrate was obtained by thermal-flow analysis for the predicted thermal-flow parameters. The thermal stress and durability assessments for the catalyst substrate were performed on the basis of this temperature distribution. The efficiency and accuracy of the inverse approach have been demonstrated through the achievement of good agreement between the thermal-flow response surface model and the results of experimental vehicle tests.

  • This paper provides a comparative study on methodologies for solutions of the inverse problems of certain basic fuzzy relational equations, with which fuzzy set is defined as mapping from sets into complete Brouwerian lattice. Three different algorithms developed so far are discussed and applied to fault diagnosis problem for the main coolant pump of nuclear power plants.

  • The question of wave source identification in a wave maker problem is the primary objective of the this paper. With the observed wave elevation, the existence of the wave maker velocity is discussed with the help of the mathematical theory of inverse problems. Utilizing the property of the Strum-Liouville system and compactness, the uniqueness and the ill-posedness(in the sense of stability) for the identification are proved.

  • We introduce three spectral regularization methods for solving a backward heat conduction problem (BHCP). For the three spectral regularization methods, we give the stability error estimates with optimal order under an a-priori and an a-posteriori regularization parameter choice rule. Numerical results show that our theoretical results are effective.

  • In this paper, a composite iterative process is introduced for a generalized equilibrium problem and a pair of nonexpansive mappings. It is proved that the sequence generated in the purposed composite iterative process converges strongly to a common element of the solution set of a generalized equilibrium problem and of the common xed point of a pair of nonexpansive mappings.

  • For solving problems of manpower and improving working environment, Robot System have been introduced. In the past, Robot System was adopted mass production, indoor factory condition, but present Robot System is applied to many other fields. This applied field is Robot System was adopted fruit harvest, maintenance, and so on. The developed Multi-Linked Lifter is applied to eminant multi-purpose working. The purpose of this study is to develop control algorithm for this equipment composed of multi-linked manipulator.

  • The quasi-static and dynamic responses of a linear viscoelastic circular beam on Winkler foundation are studied numerically by using the mixed finite element method in transformed Laplace-Carson space. This element VCR12 has 12 independent variables. The solution is obtained in transformed space and Schapery, Dubner, Durbin and Maximum Degree of Precision (MDOP) transform techniques are employed for numerical inversion. The performance of the method is presented by several quasi-static and dynamic example problems.

  • This paper deals with problems of predicting, based on the random censored sampling, a future observation and the p-th order statistic of n' future observations for the Rayleigh model. We consider the prediction intervals for the Rayleigh model with respect to an inverse gamma prior distribution. In additions, numerical examples are given in order to illustrate the proposed predictive procedure.

  • It is the purpose of this paper to study the reflection of solutions of Helmholtz equation with Neumann boundary data. In detail let u be a solution of Helmholtz equation in the exterior of a ball in R$^3$ with exterior Neumann data ∂(sub)νu = 0 on the boundary of the ball. We prove that u can be extended to R$^3$ except the center of the ball. As a corollary, we prove that a sound hard ball can be identified by the scattering amplitude corresponding to a single incident direction and as single frequency.

  • In this paper, we first discuss a representation of solutions to the initial value problem and the initial-boundary value problem for discrete evolution equations $${\sum\limits^l_{n=0}}c_n{\partial}^n_tu(x,t)-{\rho}(x){\Delta}_{\omega}u(x,t)=H(x,t)$$, defined on networks, i.e. on weighted graphs. Secondly, we show that the weight of each link of networks can be uniquely identified by using their Dirichlet data and Neumann data on the boundary, under a monotonicity condition on their weights.
