  • The present study aims at investigating the effects of the Korean language ability, social support and acculturative stress of migrant laborers on hope and life satisfaction. The results of structural equation model showed that the social support and acculturative stress of migrant laborers influences life satisfaction through hope. The Korean ability of these laborers was intermediate level where they performed well in reading while they showed low performance in speaking and listening. The results of the study are as follows. First, hope mediates the effects of Korean ability on life satisfaction and does the effects of social support and acculturative stress on life satisfaction. Second the results that the better they hope the bigger life satisfaction gets implied that hope is the immediate cause of life satisfaction. Third, for their hope, we should provide not only language education but also opportunities for the perception that the role of family and neighbors is important. It is also necessary to facilitate active movements with the local community so that the migrant laborers take part in roles as members of society. Further we need to operate lifelong education programs for helping the migrant labores to adapt their lives in Korea.

  • The concrete deck slab at the continuous span support of the steel box girder bridge is a structure that is combined with the upper flange. It is a structure that can cause tension cracks in the deck slab at the support causing problems such as durability degradation in long span bridges. This is because the tensile stress in the longitudinal direction of the slab exceeds the design tensile strength due to the effects of dead load and live load when applying a long span. Accordingly, it is necessary to control tensile cracking by adding a reinforcing bar in the axial direction to the slab at the support and to introduce additional compressive stress. To solve this problem, a structural system of a steel box girder bridge was proposed that introduces compressive stress as PS steel wire tension in the tensile stress section of the upper slab in the continuous support. The resulting structural performance was compared and verified through the finite element analysis and the steel wire tension test of the actual specimen. By introducing compressive stress that can control the tensile stress and cracking of the slab generated in the negative moment through the tension of the PS steel wire, it is possible to improve structural safety and strengthen durability compared to the existing steel box girder bridge.

  • This study has begun with the perception that proper measuring system is required to grow community business in equilibrium and to grope for some developmental directions of it. First, for effective performance evaluation of community business, the study developed a performance evaluation model based on balanced score cards, and to apply validity analysis and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) by classifying. Second, the relative importance of the second indicator for each of the first aspects shows that participation of local residents and in the aspect of person interested, satisfaction of inner education in the aspect of learning and growth, shortening of work process in the aspect of inner process, and sales per head in the aspect of substantiality were high in relative importance. Third, in the result of calculation of overall weight for each aspect, participation of local residents, a business connection to the community, sales per head were ranked in the upper group. Thus, it's now necessary to have management support through fostering intermediate support organizations in community business which has been bureaucratic, and improvement of product and service through connection with outside consulting agencies and strategic alliance with the leading businesses is required.

  • Composite membranes with a titania layer were prepared by soaking-rolling method with the titania sol of nanoparticles formed in the sol-gel process and investigated regarding the vapor permeation of various organic mixtures. The support modification was conducted by pressing $SiO_2$ xerogel of 500 nm in particle size under 10 MPa on the surface of a porous stainless steel (SUS) substrate and designed the multi-layered structure by coating the intermediate layer of ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$. Microstructure of titania membrane was affected by heat-treatment and synthesis conditions of precursor sol, and titania formed at calcination temperature of 300$^{\circ}C$ with sol of [$H^+$]/[TIP]=0.3 possessed surface area of 210 $m^2$/g, average pore size of 1.25 nm. The titania composite membrane showed high $H_2/N_2$ selectivity and water/ethanol selectivity as 25-30 and 50-100, respectively. As a result of vapor permeation for water-alcohol and alcohol-alcohol mixture, titania composite membrane showed water-permselective and molecular-sieve permeation behavior. However, water/methanol selectivity of the membrane was very low because of chemical affinity of permeants for the membrane by similar physicochemical properties of water and methanol.

  • This paper constructed the single country sequential dynamic CGE model to analyze the economic impacts of subsidizing water industry under the GHG emission abatement policy in Korea. We introduced the carbon tax to reduce the GHG emission and made two scenarios. One is to transfer the total tax revenue to household. The other is to mix the tax transfer and water industry support. Our Simulation results show that the macroeconomic effects might be positive by subsidizing water industry compared with the pure tax transfer. However, the support of water industry doesn't contribute to head for the non-energy intensive economy because it's economic activity highly depend on fossil energy and energy intensive products as intermediate demand. This means that it is important to make efforts on the cost effective measures such as energy technology progress, alternative energy development, and energy efficiency improvement in water industry against climate change policy.

  • Purpose : Selective functional movement assessment(SFMA) is a movement-based assessment tool designed for clinicians to diagnose and treat pain and functional physical problems. This concept is used for assistance in occupations related to movement, including clinical medical personnel, such as physical therapists, physical education instructors, and athlete coaches. Although this concept is widely used by clinicians, research and scientific proofs are relatively insufficient. This study aimed to review the literature on the understanding, reliability and effectiveness of SFMA, and to consider its role in the future of rehabilitation. Methods : In this review, a total of nine articles were selected according to the eligibility criteria of three major thesis topics. The main topics covered in the literature are reliability and effectiveness of clinical use of SFMA. To gather research articles, we searched official term 'Selective Functional Movement Assessment'. Among the searched 60 studies, nine were mentioned in this study that contained overlapping information and matched our desired topic. We reviewed four reliability analyses, four case reports, and one experimental study. Results : Reliability has an intermediate degree between high raters and within raters. The validity of the SFMA system is influenced by a combination of experience and logic; hence, further improvement is needed. Therefore, if the intervention was effective based on the diagnosis result, then biomechanical evidence is necessary to further support the claim. Conclusion : In future research, to use SFMA as a diagnostic tool with high accuracy, it is necessary to improve the reliability of the main problem through breakout, support for guidelines and validity and efficiency.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to distinguish and describe the types of perceptions of do not resuscitate (DNR) proxy decisions among families of elderly patients in a long-term care facility. Methods: This exploratory study applied Q-methodology, which focuses on individual subjectivity. Thirty-four Q-statements were selected from 130 Q-populations formed based on the results of in-depth interviews and literature reviews. The P-samples were 34 families of elderly patients in a long-term care hospital in Busan, Korea. They categorized the Q-statements using a 9-point scale. Using the PC-QUANL program, factor analysis was performed with the P-samples along an axis. Results: The families' perceptions of the DNR proxy decision were categorized into three types. Type I, rational acceptance, valued consensus among family members based on comprehensive support from medical staff. Type II, psychological burden, involved hesitance in making a DNR proxy decision because of negative emotions and psychological conflict. Type III, discreet decisions, valued the patients' right to self-determination and desire for a legitimate proxy decision. Type I included 18 participants, which was the most common type, and types II and III each included eight participants. Conclusion: Families' perceptions of DNR proxy decisions vary, requiring tailored care and intervention. We suggest developing and providing interventions that may psychologically support families.
