  • The potential value of the Application Specific Integrated Circuits(ASIC's) in safety systems of Nuclear Power Plants(NPP's) is being increasingly recognized because they are essentially hardwired circuitry on a chip, the reliability of the system can be proved more easily than that of software based systems which is difficult in point of software V&V(Verification and Validation). There are two types of ASIC, one is a full customized type, the other is a half customized type. PLD(Programmable Logic Device) used in this paper is a half customized ASIC which is a device consisting of blocks of logic connected with programmable interconnections that are customized in the package by end users. This paper describes the RPS(Reactor Protection System) composed of ASICs which provides emergency shutdown of the reactor to protect the core and the pressure boundary of RCS(Reactor Coolant System) in NPP's. The RPS is largely composed of five logic blocks, each of them was implemented in one PLD, as the followings. A). Bistable Logic B). Matrix Logic C).Initiation Logic D). MMI(Man Machine Interface) Logic E). Test Logic.

Intelligent NURBS Surface Interpolation System with Embedded Online Tool-Path Planning (온라인 방식의 공구경로 계획을 내장한 지능형 NURBS 곡면 보간 시스템)

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the machining of free-formed NURBS surfaces using newly defined G-codes which can directly deal with shapes defined from CAD/CAM programs on a surface basis and specialize in rough and finish cut. To this purpose, a NURBS surface interpolation system is proposed in this paper. The proposed interpolation system includes online tool-path planning, real-time interpolation and feedrate regulation considering an effective machining method and minimum machining time all suitable for unit NURBS surface machining. The corresponding algorithms are simultaneously executed in an online manner. The proposed NURBS surface interpolation system is integrated and implemented with a PC-based 3-axis CNC milling system. A graphic user interface (GUI) and a 3D tool-path viewer which interprets the G-codes for NURBS surfaces and displays whole tool-paths are also developed and included in our real-time control system. The proposed system is evaluated through actual machining in terms of size of NC data, machining time, regulation of feedrate and cutting force focused on finish cut in comparison with the existing method.

  • OPAC is a very important interface for user to use and search library collection and electronic resources. The purpose of this study is to analyze empirically the impact of OPAC usability on user satisfaction and loyalty in an university library setting. The OPAC functions investigated are keyword searching, integrated searching, faceted navigation, relevance ranking, spelling check, recommendations, user participation, and Really Simple Syndication(RSS), etc. This study investigated what usability effects on user satisfaction and loyalty and suggested the way to improve user satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Reliability and performance in metal gate/high-k device with multiple gate dielectrics were investigated. MOSFETs with a thin $HfSiO_x$ layer on a thermal Si02 dielectric as gate dielectrics exhibit excellent mobility and low interface trap density. However, the distribution of threshold voltages of $HfSiO_x/SiO_2$ stack devices were wider than those of $SiO_2$ and $HfSiO_x$ single layer devices due to the penetration of Hf and/or intermixing of $HfSiO_x$ with underlying $SiO_2$. The results of TZDB and SILC characteristics suggested that a certain portion of $HfSiO_x$ layer reacted with the underlying thick $SiO_2$ layer, which in turn affected the reliability characteristics.

  • For the quality increase of agricultural and aquatic products, it is necessary to the efficient management system of integrated control and accurate data for improving the water quality of reservoirs. This may be using the USN save time and money. In this paper, the water surface robot was designed and manufactured for measuring and announcing the environment informations, and it's network was constructed. The robot had more excellent durability and was more inexpensive than previous model. The network was designed considering connection with ZigBee, TRS, Wi-Fi or LTE network. Also the exploration function of the robot was confirmed by the simulation and the user interface was programmed.

  • This paper presents a methodology for constructing a surgical simulation environment for the replacement of artificial knee join using CT image data. We provide a user interface of preoperative planning system for performing complex 3-D spatial manipulation and reasoning tasks. Simple manipulation of joystick and mouse has been proved to be both intuitive and accurate for the fitness and the wear expect of joint. The proposed methodology are useful for future virtual medical system where all the components of visualization, automated model generation, and surgical simulation are integrated.

  • The performance requirements on the safety-based functionality of railway signal systems have been reinforced and the effort for enhancement of the existing system or development of the new system is being accordingly made. In particular, various technical researches on replacement or improvement of the existing ATS(Automatic Train Stop) signaling system are now in progress for better operational efficiency. In this study, the complementary points for improvement or replacement of the currently used system(i.e., ATS) will be derived in terms of operating efficiency in an integrated operating environment with the newly introduced system(e.g., ATC: Automatic Train Control). This study can contribute to derive the need for improvement of the signaling system by checking the interface problems and comparing between different systems through the analysis of real operation cases in the field. Eventually, this analysis can be applied to prevent and estimate the collision accidents can be caused by the failure of the signaling system in advance. In addition, the results can be used to provide a future direction to secure the reliability in the parallel operation by integration based on different railway signaling systems.

  • The high tech marine transportation infrastructure is an innovative transportation infrastructure that may be able to secure a safe transportation environment as well as efficient operation by connecting up-to-date skills including a broad range of wire and wireless communication-based information, control and electronics technologies. When integrated into the marine transportation infrastructure by the standard requirements, these standard technologies help monitoring and managing navigational aids. This paper defined a concept of middleware in the marine traffic management systems which gives characteristics of system independency, scalability, extensibility, and researches a functionality of the middleware and a software block of the middleware.

  • In this paper, we present the method that improve alarm security system using the electronic circuits added the emergency lamp by our proposed Algorithms. In conventional method the emergency lamp of warning & alarm system didn't work perfectly its performance because of battery with short life. For improving this problem we, using Peripheral Interface Controller IC, designed the circuit added the emergency lamp for an warning & alarm system and for prevention against stopping the electric current, and compared our proposed method with conventional method. By designing the circuit to stop up over charge we can extend life of battery, use for a stoppage of electric current in emergency and according to the lightness around. Therefore we are very convenient and profitable in our life. In the future we will study the method to lower the cost of architecture for practical utilization.

  • This paper presents a systematic approach to the modeling of power electronic circuits with systemlongrightarrowlevel simulation l languages. It is shown that a circuit model reduces to one of four basic types according to input/output conditions. The e elementary models for single series components and shunt components are derived which are integrated to develop a m model of given converter circuit. The constraints imposed on the model development-matching input/output conditions a and avoiding algebraic loop-are discussed in relation to the realization example of a buck converter circuit model. It is s shown that the constraints can always be fullfilled by introducing fictitious interface blocks, which is generalized to the c concept of model transformation.
