  • The use of visual media has been increased by development of contemporary society. To use these information of image, there are various methods of image processing. Edge detection which is one of those is technique to detect dramatically changing part of image brightness. Existing methods detect edge through mask which is composited by constant values. Because existing methods do not consider factor as location, direction of pixel in image, performance of edge detecting in insufficient. Therefore, an algorithm which is using variable vector for the variation of brightness in mask of $3{\times}3$ pixels is proposed.

  • In this paper. we Propose an UXGA class LCD controller for controlling the LCD panel. The proposed controller supports the full screen display using GCD between input and output resolutions. The proposed LCD controller includes the motion detector based on median filter which can detect the motion of input image for the enhancement of a image quality. Also, it divides the motion into 3 stages such as still, semi-moving and moving, and uses the different interpolation algorithms according to the degree of motion. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed interpolation algorithm, we use PSNR method and compare the conventional algorithm by using computer simulation. For the proposed motion detection algorithm, we use a visual verification and the estimation of pixel changes. The proposed LCD controller has been designed and verified by VHDL. It has been synthesized using Xilinx VirtexE FPGA.

  • Inaccurate localization exposes a robot to many dangerous conditions. It could make a robot be moved to wrong direction or damaged by collision with surrounding obstacles. There are numerous approaches to self-localization, and there are different modalities as well (vision, laser range finders, ultrasonic sonars). Since sensor information is generally uncertain and contains noise, there are many researches to reduce the noise. But, the correctness is limited because most researches are based on statistical approach. The goal of our research is to measure more exact robot location by matching between built VRML 3D model and real vision image. To determine the position of mobile robot, landmark-localization technique has been applied. Landmarks are any detectable structure in the physical environment. Some use vertical lines, others use specially designed markers, In this paper, specially designed markers are used as landmarks. Given known focal length and a single image of three landmarks it is possible to compute the angular separation between the lines of sight of the landmarks. The image-processing and neural network pattern matching techniques are employed to recognize landmarks placed in a robot working environment. After self-localization, the 2D scene of the vision is overlaid with the VRML scene.

  • Perceptual landmarks are an effective solution for a mobile robot realizing steady and reliable long distance navigation. But the prerequisite is those landmarks must be detected and recognized robustly at a higher speed under various lighting conditions. This made image processing more complicated so that its speed and reliability can not be both satisfied at the same time. Color based target detection technique can separate target color regions from non-target color regions in an image with a faster speed, and better results were obtained only under good lighting conditions. Moreover, in the case that there are other things with a target color, we have to consider other target features to tell apart the target from them. Such thing always happens when we detect a target with its single character. On the other hand, we can generally search for only one target for each time so that we can not make use of landmarks efficiently, especially when we want to make more landmarks work together. In this paper, by making use of the moment invariants of each landmark, we can not only search specified target from separated color region but also find multi-target at the same time if necessary. This made the finite landmarks carry on more functions. Because moment invariants were easily used with some low level image processing techniques, such as color based target detection and gradient runs based target detection etc, and moment invariants are more reliable features of each target, the ratio of target detection were improved. Some necessary experiments were carried on to verify its robustness and efficiency of this method.

  • The era came that by having fastest internet and smart phone makes cloud computing really a big merit. This paper proposes architecture for medical image volume rendering in mobile environment using cloud computing. This architecture to replace expensive workstation server and storage it use one of the service of cloud computing IaaS(Infrastructure as a Service). And this paper propose to use webGL to get rid of restriction of mobile hardware. By this research, it is expected that medical image volume rendering service in mobile environment is more effective and can be a foundation work.

  • This paper suggests that watermarking technique make use of Threshold Values and PN code for preservation of copyright. To protect copyright, six binary images that are generated by a Dynamic Threshold Value to LSB(least significant bit) of wavelet coefficient through wavelet conversion and watermark image use PN code to each frequency sphere-HL1, LH1, HL2, LH2, HL3, LH3, decide coordinates, operate XOR, and insert watermark. They put the sphere except from low frequency which has much image deterioration and high frequency which has weak loss compression in watermark. As an experimental result, we acquired watermark inserting image that has little image deterioration and extract watermark strongly.

  • This study is to apply QuickBird satellite image for the simulation of storm runoff in a small rural watershed. For a 1.05 $km^2$ watershed located in Goesan-Gun of Chungbuk Province, the land use from the QuickBird image was produced by on-screening digitising after ortho-rectifying using 2 m DEM. For 3 cases of land use, soil and elevation scale (1:5,000, 1:25,000 and 1:50,000), SCS (Soil Conservation Service)-CN (Curve Number) and the watershed physical parameters were prepared for the storm runoff model, HEC-HMS (Hydrological Modelling System). The model was evaluated for each case and compared the simulated results with couple of selected storm events.

  • Recently, the use of digital contents and demand have been increased with expanding users of internet. Thus, the importance of digital contents distribution site's has been increased that deal in commercially. The model that measuring acceptance of web sites is studying lively, however, the web sites that dealing and distributing specific goods to be called digital contents have insufficient theoretical base and model about acceptance of customers. Also, the research that acceptance of existing commercial web sites have limitation to explain systematically which influence on acceptance of digital contents distribution sites. Because, those research connect directly the feature of web sites, the purchase of web sites or the feature of buyers and acceptance. For that reason, it's hard to reflect the feature of digital contents. In this research, to measure customers' acceptance of web sites that distribute digital image, it is based on Technology Acceptance Model by Davis. This research find out the significant cause from survey by users of digital image distribution site. and TAM which has been adapted the analyzation of new site's acceptance can explain the state of digital image distribution site use. This research let us know the evaluation of digital image distribution site and operating strategy as a new business model.

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of a pipelined architecture and a method for real-time human detection using depth image from a Time-of-Flight (ToF) camera. In the proposed method, we use Euclidean Distance Transform (EDT) in order to extract human body location, and we then use the 1D, 2D scanning window in order to extract human joint location. The EDT-based human extraction method is robust against noise. In addition, the 1D, 2D scanning window helps extracting human joint locations easily from a distance image. The proposed method is designed using Verilog HDL (Hardware Description Language) as the dedicated hardware architecture based on pipeline architecture. We implement the dedicated hardware architecture on a Xilinx Virtex6 LX750 Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA). The FPGA implementation can run 80 MHz of maximum operating frequency and show over 60fps of processing performance in the QVGA ($320{\times}240$) resolution depth image.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach to learning a discriminative model for figure/ground segmentation by incorporating the bag-of-features and conditional random field (CRF) techniques. We advocate the use of image patches instead of superpixels as the basic processing unit. The latter has a homogeneous appearance and adheres to object boundaries, while an image patch often contains more discriminative information (e.g., local image structure) to distinguish its categories. We use pixel-level sparse coding to represent an image patch. With the proposed feature representation, the unary classifier achieves a considerable binary segmentation performance. Further, we integrate unary and pairwise potentials into the CRF model to refine the segmentation results. The pairwise potentials include color and texture potentials with neighborhood interactions, and an edge potential. High segmentation accuracy is demonstrated on three benchmark datasets: the Weizmann horse dataset, the VOC2006 cow dataset, and the MSRC multiclass dataset. Extensive experiments show that the proposed approach performs favorably against the state-of-the-art approaches.
