A Study on the Block Plans in High-Rise Multi-Family Housing based on a Gradient - A Case Study on Prizewinners in the Design Competitions (경사도에 따른 고층 주거 단지의 주동 형태에 관한 연구 - 설계경기 당선안을 중심으로)

  • Owing to the mass-housing policies of high-density and high-rise, the residential environments in Korea have come to be uniform and monotonous. Nevertheless, the design competitions introduced for the first time in 1980s have Played significant roles in developing the fresh ideas and concepts in housing design. And in our country, the land of the gradient $0-9^{\circ}$ that is able to plan as level sites come up to 32.5% of the total land and the land of the gradient $10-29^{\circ}$that should be designed by considering the characteristics of the sloping sites is 53.2% of the whole. For that reason, the development of the apartment housing in the sloping site has been done largely to solve the issues associated with the scarcity of the land. Therefore, it is very meaningful job to see the various design methods on the basis of the characteristics of the sites, particularly gradient, by analyzing the prizewinners in the design competitions. In this context, the research analyzed the works that won the design competition after 1990, and organized the types of the block plans and the design characteristics applied in our residence housing. Secondarily, it classified that types by the gradient and analyzed statistically and compared the numerical value.

A Study on the Evaluation of Dwelling Environment around High - Rise Apartments (고층아파트의 거주환경평가에 관한 연구 - 구미시 생활권별 아파트 입지를 중심으로 -)

  • This study was conducted to examine the environmental factors of apartments and therefore to suggest elements necessary to plan environments by evaluating and analysing both reside environments and conditions with residents at high-rise apartments in Kumi city. Kyongbuk. Korea. The result of this study is summarized as follows: 1) The motive of residence at apartment showed mainly the better environment of nature. and that the locational condition of those apartments was considered as a good standard for evaluating the apartment. 2) The evaluation of satisfaction showed that residents residing at apartment A tended to be satisfaied with all factors other than ‘complex’ although there was wholly dissatisfaction. In addition. it was shown that apartment B was satisfaied with housing and complex. apartment C with comfort. respectively. and apartment D with housing. 3) The evaluation of image showed that apartment C indicated the lowest variety of its complex while other factors were highly considered. Their image concerning residence was highest in apartment A. most lowest in apartment C. Then. apartment B showed the highest familiarity with and recognition of apartment complex.

  • Recently, Housing projects in the center of the Metropolis are getting higher, larger, more complex gradually, the resources are increasing greatly. Especially, the right manpower in the right place could quite important factor because the construction cites are wide and many subcontractors and labors throw into finish works in High-rise Housing projects. Differing from apartment building projects. it is only four or five years that high rise building projects are started so, there is little data for manpower information. Furthermore it is difficult that the data gathering and managing because manpower management is usually used to execute by subcontractors from supply to demand. Consequently, this study, proposed develop management for accurate manpower plan and efficient collection and practical use of manpower information through analysis of present condition in construction sites

  • In the modern city in which the high-density and complex land use is needed, high-rise residential-commercial buildings appeared as a scheme to arrange a metropolitan residence with multiple high-techs and to induce activation of the city with leading the settled population to flow into the city. And the need of the times is to actively apply the eco-friendly notion to the architecture. In this study, the works of Ken Yeang who is regarded as an eco-friendly architect to make high-rise residential-commercial buildings ecological should be focused on with analyses of eco-friendly characteristics in inside, intersection between inside and outside, and outside of his works. The result o the study would be the suggestion to design eco-friendly high-rise buildings which make the city rise in quality.

A Study on the maintenance situation of the deteriorted high-rise apartments (노후 고츨아파트의 유지관리 및 개선실태 조사)

  • The deteriorted high-rise apartments make a social problem in now days. As a result, and new alternative plan for deteriorted high-rise apartments such as the remodeling concept must be considered. This study aims to develop the remodeling items which is the guide lines when remodeling of the apartment will be conducted. Thorough the case studies of maintenance and repair status of the deteriorted apartments in seoul, reasonable guidelines for selection of remodeling items were developed. Physical maintenance items includes those that need major repair activity like wall painting, water proof roof, change/repairs/implement of heating system, boiler, city gas pipelines, cold and hot water pipes, elevators, cleaning of water tanks. The period of repair is shorter than the durable year of law or codes. As a result of the study, basic maintenance items and actual repair period were proposed. This result will be the basic guidelines for remodeling items.

  • This study evaluates the energy performance of super high-rise residential buildings with e-QUEST simulation and calculates the annual cooling and heating load. The result of this study have concluded that the most influential factor is the characteristics of the window and also suggest the most efficient window system from the result of calculation of different glasses' cooling and heating load. The result of this study shows that The most efficient method to enhance the energy performance is to use low reflective 3 pairs Low-E glass and Low-E coating(inside of outer glass) pair glass.

  • The architectural difference between the existing residence and high-rise residential building causes changes on environmental conditions such as ventilation and insulation. The object of this study is to present the improvement on envelop of high-rise residential buildings to reduce heating and cooling load. To improve the environmental performance of envelop, it is necessary to modify envelop vent system and ensure intermediate space. In this study, the shape of vents in high-rise residential buildings has been inspected, and the survey about the interior environmental conditions related to the envelop of high-rise residential building has been conducted. Environmental measurement has been done to examine out door air quality for natural ventilation.

A Research on the Differentiation of Roof Styles about High-rise Apartment Complexes - Focused on High-rise Apartment Complexes in Daegu City - (고층아파트 지붕형태 분화(分化)에 관한 조사연구 - 대구광역시 고층아파트를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to classify roof styles about high-rise apartment complexes in these days. Specially, it is focused on those in Daegu city. It has analyzed for 75 apartment complexes in Daegu city. Those complexes are all over 300 houses each and were built from 2004 to 2007. Generally, roof styles about high-rise apartment complexes are classed as a flat roof style and a slope-sided roof style. Types of the flat roof style were divided a flat roof style and a eyebrows roof style. And, types of the slope-sided roof style were divided a single slope-sided roof style, a gable roof style, and a hipped roof style. The curved roof style didn't show up at these cases. According to this study, the slope-sided roof style including the gable roof style was revealed the most common roof style about high-rise apartment complexes in Daegu city from 2004 to 2007. Among 76 cases of roof styles, the number of the gable roof style is 52, and the number of flat roof style is 18. Each roof style was changed for more decorative shape. Specially, in case of the flat roof style, 17 cases for 18 cases are built as a decorative flat roof style. and, 15 for 52 gable roof style cases are built as a decorative style, too. According this case study, we are able to know that the sort of roof style was advanced variously and decoratively, and the shape of roof style was combined more than 2 decorative factors. The roof style of high-rise apartment complex in future will be more various and decorative than this time and will be develop compositively.

  • Recently, the top & down method with drilled shafts as a foundation of high rise building is often adopted for the purpose of construction period reduction and construction cost effectiveness. It is common to omit the loading test as a Quality assurance on account of the high capacity of drilled shafts for the top & down method. It seems that the capacity of drilled shaft in recent top & down method is beyond that of conventional loading test method.However, the quality assurance for the drilled shaft as foundation of high rise building becomes much more important since the drilled shaft should bear much higher working load. It may be a small scale test pile could be an alternative as a quality assurance for the drilled shaft with high capacities. Through a case study, this paper gives an idea for solving the limitation of the conventional loading test method for the quality assurance of drilled shaft with high capacities. In particular, this paper analyzed the scale effect for a small drilled shaft installed into bedrock, which could be used for an alternative.
