  • Pedestrian detection, an important component of autonomous driving and driving assistant system, has been extensively studied for many years. In particular, image based pedestrian detection methods such as Hierarchical classifier or HOG and, deep models such as ConvNet are well studied. The evaluation score has increased by the various methods. However, pedestrian detection requires high sensitivity to errors, since small error can lead to life or death problems. Consequently, further reduction in pedestrian detection error rate of autonomous systems is required. We proposed a new method to detect pedestrians and reduce the error rate by using the Faster R-CNN with new developed pedestrian training data sets. Finally, we compared the proposed method with the previous models, in order to show the improvement of our method.

  • This paper presents a method of improving the service availability by distributing the traffic of voice/data calls over the multi-layer cells in a mobile communication network. The traffic model is described and the call handling performance is analyzed. In our method, a fast moving call is moved to and serviced in the upper layer cell. A call is also moved upward when an overflow occurs. But unlike other methods, the call that is moved upward in the overflow case is the one which has the longest sojourn time in the cell. Moreover, when the call that was moved upward due to overflow condition stays longer than a certain period of time in the upper layer cell, the system moves the call back to the lower layer in order to save the more expensive resources of the upper layer cell. Call handling performance of this method evaluated from M/M/C/K models shows clear improvement with respect to call blocking probability and forced termination probability.

  • Due to its self-configuring nature, the tactical mobile ad hoc network is used for communications between tactical units and the command and control center (CCC) in battlefields, where communication infrastructure is not available. However, when a tactical unit moves far away from the CCC or there are geographical constraints, the data link between two communicating nodes can be broken, which results in an invalid data route from the tactical units to CCC. In order to address this problem, in this paper we propose a hierarchical connectivity maintenance scheme, namely ADLCoM (Autonomous Data Link Connectivity Maintenance). In ADLCoM, each tactical unit has one or more GW (gateway), which checks the status of data links between tactical units. If there is a possibility of link breakage, GWs request ground or aerial unmanned vehicles to become a relay for the data link. The simulation results, based on tactical scenarios, show that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the network performance with respect to data delivery ratio.

  • This study was conducted in order to identify factors affecting opinions on marriage of unmarried women in their 30's in Korea. Analysis of data on 529 unmarried women in their 30's, which were taken from the 2012 social survey, was analyzed. Data were analyzed using ${\chi}^2$ test, hierarchical logistic regression analysis as well as descriptive statistics by SPSS version 20.0. Results showed that age(Exp(b)=.90,p=.025), opinions on divorce(Exp(b)=3.81,p<.001) and remarriage(Exp(b)=3.09,p=.001), and value on marriage(Exp(b)=.80,p<.001) were independent predictors of opinions on marriage. Economic activity(Exp(b)=19.58,p=.003) was found to be an independent predictor of opinions on marriage for the 35-39 year old women differ from 30-34 year old women predictors. Findings of this study indicate a need for developing family and marriage value-centered education and the low-fertility policy for the 35-39year old actively working women considering factors affecting opinions on marriage.

  • Digital assets denote multimedia information that exists in the form of digitized materials such as images, audio, and video. The management of digital assets demands much effort because of a huge amount of storage space requirement and multidimensional characteristics of the information needed to describe their contents. In this paper, we design and implement a Digital Asset Manager that stores and manages digital assets efficiently. Among the various types of digital assets, we focus on the video asset which has the highest complexity. Our Digital Asset Manager provides various facilities for digital contents authoring applications. In the Digital Asset Manager, video assets are managed by using a hierarchical model in order to ensure efficient accesses to any part of a video asset. Our system also guarantees the independence from the storage platform, and provides a fast content-based similarity search method on the digital assets.

  • This paper presents the first version of a Korean glossary of terms for structural developmental abnormalities in common laboratory animals, mainly rats, mice and rabbits. This is a translation of the glossary entitled Terminology and Developmental Abnormalities in Common Laboratory Mammals that was edited by the International Federation of Teratology Societies(IFTS) Committee on International Harmonization of Nomenclature in Developmental Toxicology. The purpose of the Korean glossary is to provide a common vocabulary that will reduce confusion and ambiguity in the description of developmental effects, particularly in submissions to regulatory agencies worldwide. The glossary contains a primary term or phrase, a definition of the abnormality, and notes, where appropriate. Selected synonyms or related terms, which reflect a similar or closely related concept, are noted. Non-preferred terms are indicated where their usage may be incorrect. Modifying terms used repeatedly in the glossary(e.g., absent, branched) are listed in Appendix A, and syndrome names are generally excluded from the glossary, but are listed separately in Appendix B. The glossary is organized into broad sections for external, visceral, and skeletal observations, then subdivided into regions, structures, or organs in a general overall head to tail sequence. Numbering is sequential, and not in any regional or hierarchical order, Uses and misuses of the glossary are discussed. Updates of the Korean glossary are planned based on the comments received.

  • Background : Willingness to satisfy patients(WSP) among nurses is essential to promoting patient satisfaction which is a critical component in the quality of health care and its outcomes. This study was carried out to empirically find out the affecting factors of WSP among nurses in hospital settings. Methods : The model contains seven job relating determinants and two intervening variables as follows: i) job relating variables of professional status, task requirements, pay, physician-nurse interaction, nurse-nurse interaction, organizational policies, and autonomy, ii) intervening variables of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Data were collected from 205 nurses in two general hospitals owned by one foundation located in Pusan, Korea, using a structured and self-administered questionnaire. Results : The major results were as follows: First, the results of ANOVA on WPS by personal characteristics showed a statistically significant relationships between WPS and hierarchical orders(p<.01) ana tenure(p<.10). Comparing with the lower orders and shorter tenure, the higher orders and the longer tenure showed better WPS. Second, the results of simple correlation analysis between WPS and determinants and intervening variables showed the following variables, in order of importance, were statistically significant(p<.01): work satisfaction(+), organizational commitment(+), task requirements(+), nurse-interaction(+), professional status(+), physician-nurse interaction(+). Third, the results of path analysis showed that two intervening variables of job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and three determinants of task requirements, professional status, and nurse-nurse interaction had a positively significant direct effect to WPS. Conclusion : The results suggest that nurses who are more satisfied with task requirements, status, nurse-nurse interaction, overall job satisfaction, and organizational commitment, will behave in ways that patients find more satisfied.

  • Software product-lines is the software development paradigm to attain the rapid development of quality applications by customizing the reconfigurable components and composing them based on predefined software architectures. Recently various methodologies for the component-based product lines are proposed, but these don't provide the specific implementation techniques of the components in terms of variability resolution mechanism. In other hand, the several approaches to implement the component supporting the variabilities resolution are developed, but these don't define the systematic analysis and design method considering the variabilities from the initial phase. This paper proposes the integration of PLUS, the one of product line methodologies extending UML modeling, and component code generation technique in order to increase the efficiency of producing the specific product in the software product lines. In this paper, the component has the hierarchical architecture consisting of the implementation elements, and each implementation elements are implemented as XSLT scripts. The codes of the components are generated from the feature selection. Using the microwave oven product lines as case study, the development process for the reconfigurable components supporting the automatic variability resolution is described.
