Personal Information Protection Act was first enacted in March, 2011, amended in September, 2011 and became effective. Nevertheless, the risk of interfering with personal information protection still remains, associated with collection, plagiarism, leakage, and even sales of personal information. The public libraries are not an exception. Accordingly, this study investigates the status of personal information protection in public libraries of Seoul and Gyeonggi province. Also, it tries to discover problems associated with the act and presents a model scheme to improve this situation. The scheme relates to (1) securing of a sufficient budget; (2) reinforcing professional education related to personal information; (3) developing detailed guidelines for public libraries.

The objectives of this study are to survey publications of the chinese version of surviving to the present day and to analyze their characteristics systematically based on physical bibliographical assessment of its 42 versions. Important findings are following: During the Chosun Dynasty, the largest number(69%) of publication and distribution of was from the Youngrak Version(Ming Books) of "ShiJundaquan", of which reversely engraved editions, typologic editions, and the reversely engraved editions of the typologic editions were found. Among 42 versions, 14 reversely engraved editions are originated from the Youngrak Version. Those from earlier versions to the versions right after ImjinWar were similar to Youngrak Version in morphological characteristics, later some editions were found to be far different from Youngrak Version by repeating the reverse engraving. As for the publication time of , most editions were printed in the 18th century. The publication region of was also examined, Gyeonggi and Gyeongsang regions are the most frequent printing places. Typologic editions were printed mainly at Gyeonggi region, and the reversely engraved editions from Ming Books were printed at Gyeongsang region as Gamyeongbon (the books from Supervisory Office).

Although it is about a decade since public libraries started to provide digital information services, lack of expertise for efficient service operation and restrictions related to copyrights have led to failure to obtain remarkable performances in uses. This study intends to analyze operation cases of domestic and overseas collaborative digital information services, as well as the current status of digital information services of libraries in Gyeonggido, thereby developing a collaborative digital information service model among public libraries on the level of local governments. This research then analyzed collaborative digital information service Web sites and surveys. Based on the analysis result, this study presented support of integrated search of possessed electronic information, Web database (DB), DB on original texts of regional records, online reference services, and mobile platforms as functional factors to embody a successful service model. As a system management road map, an eclectic model combining the merits of centralized and decentralized models was found to be more effective than a centralized or decentralized model in consideration of the characteristics of participating organizations.

The citation & reference writing is a necessary curricular course for undergraduate students to improve paper writing and information literacy. And academic libraries have been involved in relation to the course. In this context, this study examined and analyzed present conditions and contents of the citation & reference writing presently taught by academic libraries. The investigation shows that 9 out of 51 universities in Seoul & Gyeonggi-Do taught the course of citation & reference writing. The course was all taught under the title of 'paper writing' except one academic library, and the librarian taught this course on off-line. Some academic libraries taught only part of citation & reference works while many never taught them at all. Especially, the definition and types of plagiarism and reference works on Website were not appropriately covered. Academic libraries teaching the citation & reference writing should grow, and contents of the course should be systematically taught.

The purpose of this study is to discuss the improvement plan of book curation service by examining the current status of book curation, necessity and effectiveness of book curation, targeting librarian teachers. A questionnaire survey was conducted targeting 51 librarians in the Gyeonggi region. The main results are as follows. First, 86.3% of respondents had experience in book curation operation. Second, the most important reason for book curation service was to introduce resources of various subjects to students. Third, the subject of curation were selected by book event and social issues. Fourth, there were many cases where librarians performed services without receiving training on book curation. Lastly, although the recognition that book curation services are necessary is high, they are experiencing operational difficulties due to lack of space and budget. Based on the results, Based on the results, we suggested that this study has academic contributions as data that reports the reality of book curation, and that in order to actively match library resources with users without disappearing, professional education and curriculum of librarians should be able to eliminate common problems in previous studies.

In this study, a research model was designed and verified in order to determine whether the communication styles of public library managers affect employees' empowerment, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction. A survey was conducted among employees of four public libraries in the Gyeonggi region and 24 libraries in Seoul, and 229 valid responses were analyzed. The analysis revealed that authoritative communication style influenced employees' job satisfaction, while social communication style influenced their empowerment. Additionally, employees' empowerment impacted their job satisfaction, which in turn affected their life satisfaction. This implies that job satisfaction and life satisfaction of the employees can be achieved after communication and empowerment were well established within the organization. This study is meaningful in suggesting an effective management direction for strengthening the essence and foundation of public libraries by examining the theoretical significance and implications of the research result. This study also suggested that in the future, another research should be conducted based on a variety of characteristics by integrating the different communication styles of researchers.

This study analyzed the legitimacy issues of the current regulation for the copyright-using charge and the plans to revise the regulation for the performing the cinematographic works in the public libraries. Also, this study investigated the current situation of the performing the cinematographic works and the size of auditoriums in the 84 public libraries in Gyeonggi province with information on the library websites from February 2012 to January 2013. As a result, this study suggested that yearly charging for the performing the cinematographic works to the less than 6 months after publishing will be suitable than the current monthly charging. Also, this study suggested that the copyright agency for cinematographic works should increase the number of copyright works received in trust.

The purpose of this research is to develop the model for public libraries in Kyeonggi provincial office of education. The study discusses identities and development strategies for public libraries. The study investigates the current status of public libraries as well as cooperative systems between public and school libraries. The study suggests education - centric paradigm, differentiation between school library support and lifelong education, establishment of council by provincial office of education, and space changes for public libraries within the creative and intellectual framework. The study shares thoughts on identities of public libraries in provincial office of education, and will be utilized as the model for future development for public libraries in other provincial office of education.

The purpose of this study was to measure the professional identity level of public librarians and to identify related factors. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted for librarians in public libraries in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province from October 28 to November 18, 2021 and 375 valid responses collected were analyzed. As a result of the study, among the factors of professional identity public librarians showed high level of professional identity in order of belief in self-regulation, sense of calling to the field, belief in public service, using the professional organization as a major referent, and autonomy. In addition, librarian's age, career, position and whether the director of the library was a librarian had a statistically significant difference in professional identity. This study has a significance in that the Hall Professionalism Inventory was used to measure participants' professional identity and it associates domestic public libraries' settings with professional identity.

The local bookstore direct loan service for users' requests in public libraries, which was launched in Gyeonggi Province, is a creative new service that has led to the revitalization of the local economy through the rise in sales of local bookstores and high user satisfaction. However, it is a service in which positive and negative reactions coexist as negative opinions are presented on the deterioration of the quality of public library books due to overlapping needs for desired books by users. Therefore, several ways of improving for local bookstore loan service in public libraries through a survey of public libraries, local bookstores, and users were suggested in this study. The local bookstore direct loan service for users' requests, which is a creative cooperation plan between public libraries and local bookstores, needs to constantly improve its services by increasing book purchase cost, organizing a steering committee for continuous communication and collecting plans through research on the book purchase cost. Also, it is necessary to improve its services by enacting regulations expanding reading culture services expanding the number of healthy users and fostering various local bookstores.
