  • This study developed the WSM (weighted scenario method)-AHP method that can optimize the weighting value for multi-criteria to make GIS grid-based potential surface. The potential surface has been used to simulate urban expansion using distributed cellular automata model and to generate land-use planning as basic data. This study formulated the WSM-AHP method in mathematically and applied to test region, Suwon city, which located on south area from Seoul. WSM-AHP method generates potential map for each pair of weighting value for all criteria, which one criterion is weighted with high weighting value and the others use low weighting value, considering that the summation for all criteria weighting values should be "1". The potential change rate to the step of weighted scenario for weighting value of criteria is standardized like AHP intensity matrix in this study. From the standard potential change rate, WSM-AHP intensity matrix is completed, and then the optimal weighting value is calculated from the maximum eigenvector of the WSM-AHP matrix, according to the new WSM-AHP method developed in this study. The applied results of new method showed that the optimal weighting value from WSM-AHP is more resonable than the general AHP specialists' evaluation for weighting value. The another new finding of this study is to suggest the deterministic approach to optimize the weighting value for the distributed CA model, which is used to find new city area and to generate rational land-use planning.

  • Convective/stratiform radar echo classification schemes by Steiner et al. (1995) and Biggerstaff and Listemaa (2000) are examined on a monsoonal front during the summer monsoon-Changma period, which is organized as a cloud cluster with mesoscale convective complex. Target radar is S-band with wavelength of 10cm, spatial resolution of 1km, elevation angle interval of 0.5-1.0 degree, and minimum elevation angle of 0.19 degree at Jindo over the Korean Peninsula. For verification of rainfall amount retrieved from the echo classification, ground-based rain gauge observations (Automatic Weather Stations) are examined, converting the radar echo grid data to the station values using the inverse distance weighted method. Improvement from the echo classification is evaluated based on the correlation coefficient and the scattered diagram. Additionally, an optimal use method was designed to produce combined rainfalls from the radar echo and Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Precipitation Radar (TRMM/PR) data. Optimal values for the radar rain and TRMM/PR rain are inversely weighted according to the error variance statistics for each single station. It is noted how the rainfall distribution during the summer monsoon frontal system is improved from the classification of convective/stratiform echo and the use of the optimal use technique.

  • This paper outlines the methodology of grid-based water balance for estimating the spatial distribution of recharge, which is applied to Woedo catchment in the northern area of the Jeju Island. The catchment is divided into grids and a daily water balance in each grid is computed for the period of 5 years. Daily rainfall data in each grid is interpolated from the data of 10 rainfall gauging stations. The spatial distributions of parameters such as SCS curve number, soil water retention capacity and crop coefficients are derived from GIS analyses of soil and land use characteristics. The SCS curve number is obtained by calibrating simulated runoffs with respect to the observed runoffs. The results show that the average annual rainfall increases from 1,665 mm/year to 3,382 mm/year in accordance with the topographic elevation, and the average annual recharge varies from 372 mm/year to 2,576 mm/year according to the average annual rainfall increases. Spatial variability of recharge is the highest among the water balance components such as rainfall, direct runoff, evaprotranspiration and recharge because the rate of runoff and evapotranspiration in the area with relatively low rainfall is higher than the other area.

  • The existing pattern mining methods[1,2,3,4,5,6,11,12,13] do not use location generalization method on the set of location history data of moving object, but even so they simply do extract only frequent patterns which have no spatio-temporal constraint in moving patterns on specific space. Therefore, it is difficult for those methods to apply to frequent pattern mining which has spatio-temporal constraint such as optimal moving or scheduling paths among the specific points. And also, those methods are required more large memory space due to using pattern tree on memory for reducing repeated scan database. Therefore, more effective pattern mining technique is required for solving these problems. In this paper, in order to develop more effective pattern mining technique, we propose new location generalization method that converts data of detailed level into meaningful spatial information for reducing the processing time for pattern mining of a massive history data set of moving object and space saving. The proposed method can lead the efficient spatial moving pattern mining of moving object using by creating moving sequences through generalizing the location attributes of moving object into 2D spatial area based on $R^*$-Tree and Area Grid Hash Table(AGHT) in preprocessing stage of pattern mining.

  • Graph databases, which store different types of data and their relationships modeled as a graph, can be effective in managing and analyzing real estate spatial data linked by complex relationships. However, they are not widely used due to the limited spatial functionalities of graph databases. In this study, we propose a uniform grid-based real estate spatial data management approach using a graph database to respond to various real estate-related spatial questions. By analyzing the real estate community to identify relevant data and utilizing national point numbers as unit grids, we construct a graph schema that linking diverse real estate data, and create a test database. After building a test database, we tested basic topological relationships and spatial functions using the Jackpine benchmark, and further conducted query tests based on various scenarios to verify the appropriateness of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method successfully executed 25 out of 29 spatial topological relationships and spatial functions, and achieved about 97% accuracy for the 25 functions and 15 scenarios. The significance of this study lies in proposing an efficient data integration method that can respond to real estate-related spatial questions, considering the limited spatial operation capabilities of graph databases. However, there are limitations such as the creation of incorrect spatial topological relationships due to the use of grid-based indexes and inefficiency of queries due to list comparisons, which need to be improved in follow-up studies.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of virtual grid software (VGS). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the changes in energy and object thickness by dividing the use of VGS into two cases (Without-VGS) without using a movable grid. We attempted to determine the effectiveness of VGS by acquiring images using a chest phantom and a thigh phantom and analyzing SNR and CNR. In the chest phantom and femoral phantom, the tube flow was fixed at 2.5 mAs, and the tube voltage was changed by 10 kVp from 60 to 100 kVp to measure SNR and CNR, and SNR was about 1.09 to 8.86% higher in the chest phantom than in Without-VGS, and CNR was 4.18 to 14.56% higher in the VGS than in Without-VGS. And in the femoral phantom, SNR was about 9.78 to 18.05% higher in VGS than in Without-VGS, and CNR was 21.07 to 44.44% higher in VGS than in Without-VGS. The tube voltage was fixed at 70 kVp in the chest phantom and the femoral phantom, and the amount of tube current was changed at 2.5 to 16 mAs, respectively, and after X-ray irradiation, SNR and CNR were measured in the chest phantom, which was about 1.49 to 11.11% higher in VGS than in Without-VGS, and CNR was 4.76 to 13.40% higher in VGS than in Without-VGS. And in the femoral phantom, SNR was about 2.22 to 17.38% higher in VGS than in Without-VGS, and CNR was 13.85 to 40.46% higher in VGS than in Without-VGS. Therefore, if an inspection is required with a mobile X-ray imaging device, it is believed that good image quality can be obtained by using VGS in an environment where it is difficult to use a mobile grid, and it is believed that the use of mobile X-ray devices can be increased.

  • In order to calculate bending moments of rectangular plates with three edges clamped the other free subjected to both a uniform load and a triangular load, a finite difference equation for the non-dimensional governing equation are presented and numerical solutions with different aspect ratios and/or number of grid points are analyzed. The finite difference solutions are obtained by use of grid points up to 11,520 and the optimum grid points according to aspect ratios of the plate are presented as well. The obtained numerical solutions are shown to satisfy the given x moment boundary condition at the free edge, which can not be satisfied in Levy's analytical solutions and peculiar behaviour of the calculated moments is observed around the corners between the free edge and fixed ones. The numerical solutions of bending moments subjected to both a uniform load and a triangular load are compared with the corresponding analytical solutions which are shown in very good agreement on the solution domain except the neighborhood of the free edge.

  • Currently, the X.509 proxy certificate is widely used to delegate an entity's right to another entity in the computational grid environment. However it has two drawbacks: the potential security threat caused by intraceability of a delegation chain and the inefficiency caused by an interactive communication between the right grantor and the right grantee on the delegation protocol. To address these problems for computational grids, we propose a new delegation protocol without additional cost. We use an ID-based key generation technique to generate a proxy private key which is a means to exercise the delegated signing right. By applying the ID-based key generation technique, the proposed protocol has the delegation traceability and the non-interactive delegation property. Since the right delegation occurs massively in the computational grid environment, our protocol can contribute the security enhancement by providing the delegation traceability and the efficiency enhancement by reducing the inter-domain communication cost.
