A novel, chaotic map that is based on concatenated torus automorphisms is proposed in this paper. As we know, cat map, which is based on torus automorphism, is highly chaotic and is often used to encrypt information. But cat map is periodic, which decreases the security of the cryptosystem. In this paper, we propose a novel chaotic map that concatenates several torus automorphisms. The concatenated mechanism provides stronger chaos and larger key space for the cryptosystem. It is proven that the period of the concatenated torus automorphisms is the total sum of each one's period. By this means, the period of the novel automorphism is increased extremely. Based on the novel, concatenated torus automorphisms, two application schemes in image encryption are proposed, i.e., 2D and 3D concatenated chaotic maps. In these schemes, both the scrambling matrices and the iteration numbers act as secret keys. Security analysis shows that the proposed, concatenated, chaotic maps have strong chaos and they are very sensitive to the secret keys. By means of concatenating several torus automorphisms, the key space of the proposed cryptosystem can be expanded to $2^{135}$. The diffusion function in the proposed scheme changes the gray values of the transferred pixels, which makes the periodicity of the concatenated torus automorphisms disappeared. Therefore, the proposed cryptosystem has high security and they can resist the brute-force attacks and the differential attacks efficiently. The diffusing speed of the proposed scheme is higher, and the computational complexity is lower, compared with the existing methods.
This study aims to develop a 3D map which allows users to better understand the overall topography and to memorize the general concepts of the current location for tourists. The Map also utilizes different forms and color codes of the block units in the panoramic view. First, in preparation for making the road block unit, 28 types of roads presented in common map were defined. Based on the definitions, 12 dominant groups were formed. In designing each form, visual correlation was considered. Second, 42 types of terrain features presented in normal maps were defined for making the panoramic block unit. Then, 2 dominant groups, each contains 5 subgroups, were made according to the assemble pattern and the size of area. On the basis of the grouped units, the panoramic block units were produced with 3D pole line graphics maintaining integration. Lastly, each panoramic block units were categorized by color classes such as blue, green, gray and brown class. The overall color combination of the work was evaluated as well harmonized since the Moon&Spencer's Aesthetic measure value exceeds 0.5.

Segmentation plays an important role in the field of image processing and computer vision. Intuitionistic fuzzy C-means (IFCM) clustering algorithm emerged as an effective technique for image segmentation in recent years. However, standard fuzzy C-means (FCM) and IFCM algorithms are sensitive to noise and initial cluster centers, and they ignore the spatial relationship of pixels. In view of these shortcomings, an improved algorithm based on IFCM is proposed in this paper. Firstly, we propose a modified non-membership function to generate intuitionistic fuzzy set and a method of determining initial clustering centers based on grayscale features, they highlight the effect of uncertainty in intuitionistic fuzzy set and improve the robustness to noise. Secondly, an improved nonlinear kernel function is proposed to map data into kernel space to measure the distance between data and the cluster centers more accurately. Thirdly, the local spatial-gray information measure is introduced, which considers membership degree, gray features and spatial position information at the same time. Finally, we propose a new measure of intuitionistic fuzzy entropy, it takes into account fuzziness and intuition of intuitionistic fuzzy set. The experimental results show that compared with other IFCM based algorithms, the proposed algorithm has better segmentation and clustering performance.
Objective: To demonstrate that human visual illusion can contribute to sub-endocardial dark rim artifact in contrast-enhanced myocardial perfusion magnetic resonance images. Materials and Methods: Numerical phantoms were generated to simulate the first-passage of contrast agent in the heart, and rendered in conventional gray scale as well as in color scale with reduced luminance variation. Cardiac perfusion images were acquired from two healthy volunteers, and were displayed by the same gray and color scales used in the numerical study. Before and after k-space windowing, the left ventricle (LV)-myocardium boarders were analyzed visually and quantitatively through intensity profiles perpendicular the boarders. Results: k-space windowing yielded monotonically decreasing signal intensity near the LV-myocardium boarder in the phantom images, as confirmed by negative finite difference values near the board ranging -1.07 to -0.14. However, the dark band still appears, which is perceived by visual illusion. Dark rim is perceived in the in-vivo images after k-space windowing that removed the quantitative signal dip, suggesting that the perceived dark rim is a visual illusion. The perceived dark rim is stronger at peak LV enhancement than the peak myocardial enhancement, due to the larger intensity difference between LV and myocardium. In both numerical phantom and in-vivo images, the illusory dark band is not visible in the color map due to reduced luminance variation. Conclusion: Visual illusion is another potential cause of dark rim artifact in contrast-enhanced myocardial perfusion MRI as demonstrated by illusory rim perceived in the absence of quantitative intensity undershoot.
Using a series of medical tomograms, we can reconstruct internal organs or other objects of interest and generate 3-D images. It is generally accepted that the axial resolution determined by two sequential image slices is lower than the planar resolution in one image slices. Therefore, various methods of interpolation were developed for an accurate display of reconstructed images. In this paper, a new algorithm for 3-D reconstruction of the medical images such as MRI and X-ray CT is suggested. The algorithm is shape-based and utilizes parts of the gray-level information. We extend the conventional shape-based interpolation of the binary images to the gray-scale images using the shortest distance map. Using this new algorithm, We could reduce the execution time for interpolation while keeping similar high quality of the reconstructed images with reduced execution time and is applicable to the various medical tomograms.

In this paper, a real-time monocular vision based navigation system is developed for the disabled people, where online background learning and vector field histogram are used for identifying obstacles and recognizing avoidable paths. The proposed system is performed by three steps: obstacle classification, occupancy grid map generation and VFH-based path recommendation. Firstly, the obstacles are discriminated from images by subtracting with background model which is learned in real time. Thereafter, based on the classification results, an occupancy map sized at $32{\times}24$ is produced, each cell of which represents its own risk by 10 gray levels. Finally, the polar histogram is drawn from the occupancy map, then the sectors corresponding to the valley are chosen as safe paths. To assess the effectiveness of the proposed system, it was tested with a variety of obstacles at indoors and outdoors, then it showed the a'ccuracy of 88%. Moreover, it showed the superior performance when comparing with sensor based navigation systems, which proved the feasibility of the proposed system in using assistive devices of disabled people.

In computer vision, salient object is important to extract the useful information of foreground. With active contour analysis acting as the core in this paper, we propose a bottom-up saliency detection algorithm combining with the Bayesian model and the global color distribution. Under the supports of active contour model, a more accurate foreground can be obtained as a foundation for the Bayesian model and the global color distribution. Furthermore, we establish a contour-based selection mechanism to optimize the global-color distribution, which is an effective revising approach for the Bayesian model as well. To obtain an excellent object contour, we firstly intensify the object region in the source gray-scale image by a seed-based method. The final saliency map can be detected after weighting the color distribution to the Bayesian saliency map, after both of the two components are available. The contribution of this paper is that, comparing the Harris-based convex hull algorithm, the active contour can extract a more accurate and non-convex foreground. Moreover, the global color distribution can solve the saliency-scattered drawback of Bayesian model, by the mutual complementation. According to the detected results, the final saliency maps generated with considering the global color distribution and active contour are much-improved.
3D magnetic inversion, based on the assemblage of 2D forward modeling and inversion as a practical technique to reflect the a priori information, was conducted to investigate the spatial distribution features of black-shale related and pyrometamorphic uranium deposit and several lithological units of Ogcheon Super Group in an area of Geumsan. By using the 3D visualization technique with suitable susceptibility interval and horizontal slice map, the spatial distribution of magnetic susceptibility corresponded to the black shale related uranium bearing lithological units, Black Slate member was well coincided with a information of uranium deposit. Also, even though it is indirect indicator for the detetction of uranium deposits interbedded in Gray Hornfels member, spatial susceptibility distribution which shows the south-east magnetic linearment corresponding to the Majeon-ri formation and Dark Gray Slate were matched well. From this investigation, we inferred that maximum depth extension which Black Slate member can be separately recognized with respect to adjacent Dark Gray Slate with strong magnetic susceptibility anomaly is about 150m with reference elevation level of 306m. In addition, Majeon-ri formation located south of Black Slate member revels relatively high magnetic susceptibility range but shows high spatial susceptibility fluctation. And, as an intrusive rocks, Jurassic Biotite Granite shows relatively low magnetic susceptibility characteristics. On the contrary, Cretaceous granite distributed in soutthern part of the study area shows the relatively high susceptibility distribution.

Melanin is a black pigment, responsible for hair and skin color. In order to find the melanin stimulatory technique which prove useful for a gray and a white hair-preventive agent or tanning agent, we developed atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) and tested for tyrosinase activity and melanin production in melanoma (B16F10) cells in vitro. We found plasma dose dependent increase in melanin production. To explore the contributing mechanism in melanin synthesis, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and MAP kinase signaling pathways were studied. Furthermore, the development of plasma technology for melanin synthesis and planning for in-vivo future studies will be discussed.
