고주파 임피던스를 이용한 곡류의 함수율 측정에 관한 연구 (I) - 곡류의 전기적 특성 구명 - (Measurement of Grain Moisture Content using RF Impedance (I) - Electrical Properties of Grain -)

  • The electrical properties such as dielectric constant, dielectric loss factor and AC conductivity of grain were presented to measure the moisture content of grain using RF impedance. At frequency ranging from 1 to 10MHz and room temperature, $20^{\circ}C$, vector network analyzer(HP4195) and coaxial type sample holder were used to analyze the electrical properties of paddy(11∼24%w.b.), brown rice(11∼18%w.b.), barley(11∼21%w.b.) and wheat(11∼23%w.b.) depending on the moisture content, frequency and bulk density. The dielectric constant and AC conductivity of grain samples increased with moisture content and bulk density. The dielectric constants decreased with frequency and could be expressed as function of the moisture density(decimal moisture $content{\times}bulk$ density).

  • The effect of grain size on the tensile properties and fatigue behavior of austenitic high Mn steel has been investigated. The recrystallized austenite grain size of the cold rolled high Mn steel was increased as the annealing temperature increased from $600^{\circ}C$ to $1000^{\circ}C$. Larger austenite grain size decreased the yield strength and the tensile strength, and increased the uniform elongation due to transformation of some austenite into twins or E-martensite phase during deformation. Austenite grain refinement increased the tendency to form dislocation cells, instead. The specimen annealed at $1000^{\circ}C$ with large grain size showed lower fatigue crack propagation rate in low ${\Delta}K$ region due to rougher fracture surface caused by formation of deformation twins during fatigue at the crack tip region.

Grain Boundary Protonic Conductivity in Highly Dense Nano-crystalline Y-doped BaZrO3

  • We have investigated protonic conduction in highly dense (>98%) polycrystalline Y-doepd $BaZrO_3$ (BYZ) ceramic with an average grain size of ~85 nm. It is observed that the protonic conductivity across the grain boundaries in this nano-crystallilne BYZ (n-BYZ) is significantly higher than the microcrystalline counterpart. Such a remarkable enhancement in grain boundary conductivity results in high overall conductivity that may allow this chemically stable protonic conductor to serve as a solid electrolyte for low-temperature solid oxide fuel cell applications.

  • We studied the growth of large-grain pentacene film by organic vapour phase deposition. The optimizations of the growth of pentacene are carried out by varying the gas pressure in the reactor and substrate temperature. We found that the grain size depends strongly on the gas pressure in the reactor. The grain size of $20{\mu}m$ has been obtained at the gas pressure of 200 Torr. The film was found to be strongly (001) oriented and its grain size decreases with decreasing the gas pressure.

  • In this paper, influences or grain size on the electro-optic properties were studied on the penferroelectric PLZT ceramics. The specimens were fabricated by the two stage sintering method. Relative permittivity was a little increased with the increment or grain size in 9,9.5/65/35 (La/Zr/Ti) PLZT specimens, and Curie temperature was decreased in the 9.5/65/35 specimens but constant in the 9.5/65/35 specimens. As the grain size was increased, field induced polarization and dP/dE were increased. Because domain walls can be easily moved by electric field. Light transmittance was increased in the 9/65/35 PLZT specimens but there was little effect on the grain size in the 9.5/65/35 PLZT specimens.

$ZrO_2$ 의 입자크기과 상분포에 미치는 소결분위기 영향 (Sintering Atmosphere Effect on the Grain Size and Phase Distribution of a Zirconia)

  • The effect of sintering atmosphere on the grain sizes and phase distributions in 3Y-ZrO2 and 8Y-ZrO2 was investigated O2 and N2 were used as sintering atmospheres. In the case of 3Y-ZrO2 the sintered density was higher in N2 than in O2 while in the case of 8Y-ZrO2 contrary results were obtained. The observation can be explained by the nitrogen solubility into the zirconia lattice. That is nitrogen gas can behave as a diffusive gas contrary to the behavior in other oxides depending on the amount of Y2O3. In 3Y-ZrO2 tetragonal phase was retained at room temperature irrespective of sintering atmospheres. Grain sizes of two specimens were below 2㎛ and larger in O2 thin in N2 Under a given stress the transformability of tetragonal phase into monoclinic phase was higher in O2 than N2. The results are discussed on the basis of an effect of the grain size and non-transformable ttragonal(t') phase.

Carbon Monoxide Gas Carburization Behavior of Molybdenum Materials

  • For pure Molybdenum carburized in mixed gases of argon and carbon monoxide, microstructural observations were carried out. X-ray diffraction analysis for carburized specimens revealed that brittle ${\alpha}-Mo_2C$- layer hardly formed in the case of low carbon monoxide concentration. Fracture strength of the specimen carburized at 1673 K for 16 h is about 550 MPa higher than that of the un-carburized specimen. SEM observation revealed that with increasing carburizing temperature, the region demonstrating a transgranular fracture mode progressed towards the center of specimen. This result means that the grain boundaries were strengthened by the grain boundary diffusion of carbon and the strength of grain boundaries exceeded that of grain itself.

Magnetic Abrasive Polishing for Internal Face of Seamless Stainless Steel Tube using Sludge Abrasive Grain

  • In this paper, we have investigated the characteristics of the magnetic abrasive using sludge on polishing of internal finishing of seamless stainless steel tube applying magnetic abrasive polishing. Either white alumina grain was used to resin sludge at a low temperature, and the sludge of magnetic abrasive powder was synthesized and crushed into 200 meshes. Surface roughness was measured before and after polishing, and more than 40% of improvement of surface roughness was achieved when grain was used under a specific condition. Even though some degree of surface roughness due to deeper scratches still exist, but the result showed a prospective magnetic abrasive polishing using sludge with white alumina grains.

  • TFT 제조 방법 중 LTPS (Low Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon)는 저온과 저비용 등의 이점으로 인하여 flat panel display 제작에 널리 사용된다. 이동도와 전류 점멸비 등에서 이점을 가지는 ELA(Excimer Laser Annealing)가 널리 사용되고 있지만, 이 방법은 uniformity 등의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이를 극복하기 위한 방법으로 MICC(Metal Induced Capping Crystallization)이 사용되고 있다. 이 방법은 $SiN_x$, $SiO_2$, SiON등의 capping layer를 diffusion barrier로 위치시키고, Ni 등의 금속을 capping layer에 도핑 한 뒤, 다시 한번 열처리를 통하여 a-Si에 Ni을 확산시키킨다. a-Si 층에 도달한 Ni들이 seed로 작용하여 Grain size가 매우 큰 film을 제작할 수 있다. 채널의 grain size가 클 경우 grain boundary에 의한 캐리어 scattering을 줄일 수 있기 때문에 MIC 방법을 사용하였음에도 ELA에 버금가는 소자의 성능과 안정성을 얻을 수있었다. 본 연구에서는 large grain TFT의 Gate bias stress에 따른 소자의 안정성 측정 및 분석에 목표를 두었다.

  • A 16Mb ITIC FeRAM device was fabricated with BLT capacitors. The average value of the switchable 2 polarization obtained m the 32k-array (unit capacitor size: 068 ${mu}m^2$) capacitors was about 16 ${\mu}C/cm^2$ at 3V and the uniformity within an 8-inch wafer was about 2.8%. But a lot of cells were failed randomly during the measuring the bit-line signal of each cell. It was revealed that the Grain size and orientation of the BLT thin film were severely non-uniform. Therefore, the uniformity of the grain size and orientation was improved by changing the process conditions of post heat treatment. The temperature of nucleation step was the very effective on varying the microstructure of the BLT thin film. The optimized temperature of the nucleation step was $560^{\circ}C$.
