  • Hose bands, which are used in LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) or LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) facilities for home use to join low pressure hoses with fuse-cocks (or regulators), should give a tight connection to prevent a gas leakage from hose connection parts. In this paper, hydraulic pressure tests and pull force tests were carried out to evaluate the performance and swaging length of hose bands. Experimental results showed that the swaging force of ear type bands were higher than those of spring bands and also showed that the optimal swaging length was about 1${\~}$2 mm from the hose end.

  • The current gas regulations have been reformed into a new technical standards system called as "KGS (Korea Gas Safety) Code" system. Korea Gas Safety Corporation has developed a new framework of technical standards classification method and will manage the new technical standards system in compliance with the mandatory requirements of gas regulations. This study will cover an overall view of the reformation and show "KGS Code" in detail.

  • As a result of a survey on households using gas, gas safety accidents have been declining linearly in 2006. However, when analyzing the causes of gas accidents, accidents detail caused by carelessness have increased to 62%It is analyzed that urgent measures are needed. In addition, 7 households per 10 households perceive city gas as safe, but 30% of them recognize that gas safety accidents are likely to occur in their homes in the future. Even though city gas use is relatively safe,It is recognized that there is a risk. Although the perception of the gas safety of the city gas consumers is not related to the age and gender income level, it is analyzed that it is highly educated and experienced direct or indirect gas safety accident, the perception of safety was relatively low. In order to reduce gas safety accidents, the installation of gas safety equipment for elderly households should be continuously supplied. As a result of investigating the disposal costs in case of various disasters, 66% of the insurance costs were found to be highly dependent on insurance. In addition, to reduce gas safety accidents, the installation of gas safety devices for elderly households should be continuously implemented.

  • This paper aims to analyze the effect of the introduction of new technology and education for gas safety on the prevention of gas accidents. For the purpose of a study, inspections, safety tests and training programs conducted by KGS were examined and the gas accident data, installation rate of safety devices and training, inspection data for last 20 years were also collected and then Multiple regression analyses were performed by using SPSS. The results showed that in both of City Gas and LPG system, the installation rate of fusecocks and training programs were statistically meaningful for reducing the gas accident rate.
