  • In the 2009 new curriculum reform, where creativity is the key point, assessment methods for mathematical creativity is recommended. However, lessons for creativity are not carried out well in mathematics classes. One of the reasons for this is the lack of assessment methods for student's creativity and specific instructions on how teachers should evaluate their students using a written test. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a simple way to evaluate student's creativity by differentiating the student's solutions of the posed problems. For validation of the proposed method, we identified the properties of excellent problem solutions cited by both the students group and teachers group. A chi-square test was then carried out to compare any differences in frequency that each of the groups chose as an excellent solution as a result of the student's problem solving

  • The purpose of this study was to help teachers for their teaching practice by analyzing the excellent lesson videos. To analyze the lesson videos between teacher and students, the researchers classified excellent lesson classes into four types as 'Discourse type', 'Representation type', 'Operation type' and 'Complex type' by mathematical communication pattern and kept close watch each lesson videos. Mathematical communication of the best discourse type classroom was analyzed in terms of questioning, explaining, and the sources of mathematical ideas. As a result, the number of Discourse type classes was 6. Operation type classes were 16 owing to characteristic of elementary class. Representation type class was 1 and Complex type class was 1. The Classes excluding Operation type was more planned by teachers. Teachers need to know about mathematical communication accurately because they designed just 5 lesson plan considering mathematical communication of students and only one of the lessons has the intellectual purpose of communication. Furthermore teachers should reflect questioning for student-to-student in their lesson plan.

  • The architectural design of student circulation space has a pronounced influence on the educational function of a school building. Recent curriculum and new teaching methods have required the sufficient space provided for circulation and various circulation spaces in a school building, such as elevator, pilotis, bridge, atrium, deck, lobby and locker room. However excessive circulation space is wasteful form the standpoint of both initial investment and operation. This study aims to investigate new circulation patterns and functions, and to propose the adequate size in planning a school corridor. For this purpose, it explores the recent trends of the corridor planning represented in the excellent school facilities in 2002. and analyzes the newly-added functions In the school corridor : architectural in-between space, dwelling space for ordinary activities, space for educational media and auxiliary learning space. This research recommends that the corridor width be carefully planned according to the supposed functions in order to achieve the efficiency in the design of school facilities.

  • Recently, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been widely used with excellent performance in various computer vision fields, including super-resolution (SR). However, CNN is computationally intensive and requires a lot of memory, making it difficult to apply to limited hardware resources such as mobile or Internet of Things devices. To solve these limitations, network lightening studies have been actively conducted to reduce the depth or size of pre-trained deep CNN models while maintaining their performance as much as possible. This paper aims to lighten the SR CNN model, SRGAN, using the knowledge distillation among network lightening technologies; thus, it proposes four techniques with different methods of transferring the knowledge of the teacher network to the student network and presents experiments to compare and analyze the performance of each technique. In our experimental results, it was confirmed through quantitative and qualitative evaluation indicators that student networks with knowledge transfer performed better than those without knowledge transfer, and among the four knowledge transfer techniques, the technique of conducting adversarial learning after transferring knowledge from the teacher generator to the student generator showed the best performance.

  • This study examined the knowledge and practices of scientific inquiry displayed by three student teachers and two beginning teachers at secondary levels. Observations using the instrument of OTOP designed by the research team of OCEPT (Oregon Collaborative for Excellent in the Preparation of Teachers) generalized similar teaching strategies of scientific inquiry between student and beginning teachers, such as using group work for students' first hand experience, using concrete materials for experimentation or visual tools for demonstration, using questions for factual knowledge mainly without opportunities to understand how scientific knowledge is constructed. Those scientific inquiry activities were very confirmative ones to follow the steps without opportunities of understanding nature of science or nature of scientific inquiry. However, all participants in this study hold knowledge of scientific inquiry envisioned by the National Science Education Standards [NSES] (NRC, 1996), where students identify their hypothesis, use critical and logical thinking, and consider alternative explanations through argumentation as well as experimentation. An inconsistent relationship between participating teachers knowledge and practices about scientific inquiry resulted from their lack of pedagogy skills of implementing it in the classroom. Providing opportunities for these teachers to reflect on their beliefs and practices about scientific inquiry was recommended for the future study. Furthermore, increasing college faculty interest in new teaching approaches for upgrading the content knowledge of student teachers and beginning teachers was recommended as a solution, since those teachers showed evidence of influence by college faculties at universities in their pedagogy skills.
