  • Planning information generated during initial architectural design phases significantly influences subsequent phases, and is implemented into architectural design models during the design process. However, failures to manage and use planning information in Korean design offices remain common. Current design tools that incorporate planning information also do not address the issue of interoperability during the life cycles of buildings. To address these problems, the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) extension model was developed to accommodate the need to manage and use planning information for cooperation between design offices carrying out multidisciplinary tasks. This paper introduces a purpose-built software tool that implements the IFC model and demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed method with the software tool.

  • An efficient measurement and evaluation system for hand tool tasks will provide a practical solution to the problem of designing and evaluating manual tool tasks in the workplace. Few studies on the biomechanical analysis of hand postures and tool handling tasks exist because of the lack of appropriate measurement techniques for hand force. A measurement system for the finger forces and joint angles for analysis of manual tool handling tasks was developed in this study. The measurement system consists of a force sensing glove made from twelve Force Sensitive Resistors and an angle-measuring glove (Cyberglove$\^$TM/, Virtual technologies) with eighteen joint angle sensors. A biomechanical model of the hand using the data from the measurement system was also developed. Systems of computerized procedures were implemented integrating the hand posture measurement system, biomechanical analysis system, and the task analysis system for manual tool handling tasks. The measurement system was useful in providing the hand force data needed for an existing task analysis system used in CTD risk evaluation. It is expected that the hand posture measurement developed in this study will provide an, efficient and cost-effective solution to task analysis of manual tool handling tasks. These tasks are becoming increasingly important areas of occupational health and safety of the country.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the user-oriented housing interior space sensibility evaluation tools: The user-oriented housing interior space sensibility evaluation tools shall be developed through the systematic selection process of the extracted housing interior space images, which were linked with the adjectives of sensibility evaluation selected for the housing interior space preferred by the user from the specific words of the sensibility extracted to identify the characteristics of the user's sensibility which is recently being changed. In the results of analyzing the words of sensibility for the residential space preferred by the users with 48 pairs of adjectives. The user-oriented sensibility assessment tool was built by extracting 8 sensibility factors of 'cozy', 'practical' 'cheerful', 'traditional', 'unique', 'congenial', 'sensuous', and 'gorgeous' in the exploratory factor analysis. The image scale was constructed in two-dimensions of the sense of space and the type of space for the residential interior space images. The dimension of the 'sense of space' is explained by the axis of open-closed and the dimension of 'type of space, is explained by the axis of 'natural-artificial'. Such a structural model of the residential interior design attributes were divided into 8 groups. And the 42 images representing each group were selected and the user-oriented residential interior space image tool was built by adding user's selective elements.
