  • In this paper, we propose an channel estimation method for Multi-Input Multi-Output-Orthogonal frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM). The proposed method estimates uniquely all channel frequency responses needed in space-frequency block coded OFDM systems using "comb-type" pilot symbols. To reduce the computational complexity of the proposed method, least square(LS) and linear minimum mean square error(LMMSE) are used in the frequency-domain. The performance of the proposed approach is evaluated by computer simulation for rayleigh fading channel.

  • In this paper, we consider approximation of eigenelements of a two dimensional compact integral operator with a smooth kernel by discrete collocation and iterated discrete collocation methods. By choosing numerical quadrature appropriately, we obtain convergence rates for gap between the spectral subspaces, and also we obtain superconvergence rates for eigenvalues and iterated eigenvectors. We then apply Richardson extrapolation to obtain further improved error bounds for the eigenvalues. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate theoretical estimates.

  • We investigate the error estimates of the h and p versions of the finite element method for an elliptic problems. We present theoretical results showing the p version gives results which are not worse than those obtained by the h version in the finite element method.

  • In this paper, we study the first order nonlinear neutral difference equation: $${\Delta}(x(n)+px(n-{\tau}))+f(n,x(n-c),x(n-d))=r(n),\;n{\geq}n_0$$. Using the Banach fixed point theorem, we prove the existence of bounded positive solutions of the equation, suggest Mann iterative schemes of bounded positive solutions, and discuss the error estimates between bounded positive solutions and sequences generated by Mann iterative schemes.

  • Stability result is obtained for the approximation of the stationary Stokes problem with nonconforming elements proposed by Douglas et al [1] for the velocity and discontinuous piecewise constants for the pressure on qudrilateral elements. Optimal order $H^1$and $L^2$error estimates are derived.

  • In this paper, we adopt symmetric interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin (SIPG) methods to approximate the solution of nonlinear viscoelasticity-type equations. We construct finite element space which consists of piecewise continuous polynomials. We introduce an appropriate elliptic-type projection and prove its approximation properties. We construct semidiscrete discontinuous Galerkin approximations and prove the optimal convergence in $L^2$ normed space.

  • In this paper we present a postprocessing scheme for the Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element approximation of the second order elliptic eigenvalue problem. This scheme is carried out by solving a primal source problem on a higher order space, and thereby can improve the convergence rate of the eigenfunction and eigenvalue approximations. It is also used to compute a posteriori error estimates which are asymptotically exact for the $L^2$ errors of the eigenfunctions. Some numerical results are provided to confirm the theoretical results.

  • In [8], Franca and Stenberg developed several Galerkin least squares methods for the solution of the problem of linear elasticity. That work concerned itself only with the error estimates of the method. It did not address the related problem of finding effective methods for the solution of the associated linear systems. In this work, we propose the block diagonal preconditioners. The preconditioned conjugate residual method is robust in that the convergence is uniform as the parameter, v, goes to $\sfrac{1}{2}$. Computational experiments are included.

  • Finite element approximation solutions of the optimal control problems for stochastic Stokes equations with the forcing term perturbed by white noise are considered. Error estimates are established for the fully coupled optimality system using Brezzi-Rappaz-Raviart theory. Numerical examples are also presented to examine our theoretical results.

  • In this article, we propose and analyze a new nonconforming primal mixed finite element method for the stationary Stokes equations. The approximation is based on the pseudostress-velocity formulation. The incompressibility condition is used to eliminate the pressure variable in terms of trace-free pseudostress. The pressure is then computed from a simple post-processing technique. Unique solvability and optimal convergence are proved. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the performance of the method.
