The seismic design of embankment dams requires more comprehensive studies to understand the behaviour of dams. Deformations primarily control this behaviour occur during or after earthquake loading. Dam failures and incidents show that the impacts of deformations should be reviewed for existing and new embankment dams. Overtopping erosion failure can occur if crest deformations exceed the freeboard at the time of the deformations. Therefore, crest settlement is one of the most critical deformations. This study developed empirical formulas using Gene Expression Programming (GEP) based on 88 cases. In the analyses, dam height (Hd), alluvium thickness (Ha), the magnitude-acceleration-factor (MAF) values developed based on earthquake magnitude (Mw) and peak ground acceleration (PGA) within this study have been chosen as variables. Results show that GEP models developed in the paper are remarkably robust and accessible tools to predict earthquake-induced crest settlement of embankment dams and perform superior to the existing formulation. Also, dam engineering professionals can use them practically because the variables of prediction equations are easily accessible after the earthquake.

Clients demands have been changed by construction circumstances such as high-technology, megaprojects, and the complexity of construction. Advanced foreign nations have already introduced and applied new project delivery systems (i.e, CM, DB, etc.) to deal with the change of such that. Korea has also promoted variation of the delivery systems for the progressive measure to the rapid changeable situation. Even though government has made his efforts as stated above, some clients have uniformly used those to public construction projects. That is because there are not selection criteria of project delivery system for clients. Therefore, this study presented the selection criteria of project delivery system based on project types in the public large construction projects. In addition, the study has verified the viability of the presented models through consultation with professionals and experts.

Credit enhancement is absolutely essential for financing Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects in Asia particularly for countries whose sovereign credit rating is on non-investment grade and foreign investment is difficult to achieve. Due to nexus of agreements among varies parties in IPP project, it is hard to clearly visualize the roles of these agreements. Examples are: What credit enhancement factors are most influential to minimize the associated risks of IPP projects? Why are they powerful? What are their roles? Who are less powerful and what are the obstacles that causes them less powerful? A research is conducted to identify the credit enhancement factors for IPP projects in Asia. IPP professionals validated 27 out of 28 identified credit enhancement factors, and five factor groupings were made through factor analysis. Afterwards, network theory is applied to find the unanswered questions, which by graphical and mathematical representations show that the host government's credit enhancement, MDBs, ECAs and other parties' credit enhancement are prominent and of great importance to handle the associated risks of IPP projects in Asia

In this study, we formulated a method that evaluates Taekwondo Poomsae performance using a series of choreographed training movements. Despite recent achievements in 3D human pose estimation (HPE) performance, the analysis of human actions remains challenging. In particular, Taekwondo Poomsae action analysis is challenging owing to the absence of time synchronization data and necessity to compare postures, rather than directly relying on joint locations owing to differences in human shapes. To address these challenges, we first decomposed human joint representation into joint rotation (posture) and limb length (body shape), then synchronized a comparison between test and reference pose sequences using DTW (dynamic time warping), and finally compared pose angles for each joint. Experimental results demonstrate that our method successfully synchronizes test action sequences with the reference sequence and reflects a considerable gap in performance between practitioners and professionals. Thus, our method can detect incorrect poses and help practitioners improve accuracy, balance, and speed of movement.

The Construction Management contracting method and administration system had introduced to Korea 10 years ago. The actual CM consulting contract has adapted just for 5 years only. The CM administration system proves lots of innovative construction practices, upgrading construction industry from corporations to site operations. However, there are more tasks to the CM professionals to revitalize CM contracting methods and administration system. This research investigated what CM has achieved for the past 10 years and what CM should accomplish for the coming 10 years as future strategy and missions. Overseas CM practices are reviewed and domestic market, regulations, requirements are investigated through structured interviewed and in-depth survey to CM professionals. Many interesting issues were found through research process and those topics were categorized by industry, academy and government for defining current problems and future tasks. These issues for future strategy and mission needs to be utilized to develop future CM contracting methods and administration system. The system to follow up these meaningful results of CM is important for the future progress.

Usability heuristics("heuristics") are general principles for usability evaluation during user interface design. This method is commonly used by Human Computer Interaction(HCI) professionals; however, the most widely used set of heuristics which were originally created by Nielsen has not yet been found practical in the current state of Korean technologies. In our prior research, we found that some of Nielsen's heuristics are difficult for some evaluators to understand and insufficient to fully evaluate Korean applications, due to the broad-applicability of these heuristics and differences in cultural context. Therefore, in this study, professionals in computer science and related fields evaluated Nielsen's ten usability heuristics in order to gather logical bases for finding areas for improvement. The results of this study will help creating a new set of heuristics that will better valuate more recently developed applications.

In this study, we present how our assistive technology service worked in the public funds delivery system through the center of professional assistive technology in Gwangju. In detail, among total 253 applicants for assistive device support business for disabled, 28 clients and 28 clients failed to get the support because of self-withdrawl and insuitability, respectively. The left 225 clients finally got the chance to use the assistive device; especially, 28 clients will get the alternative device which was recommended through the assistive technology professionals. Therefore, this work is believed to be a good example of how mediation of professionals in assistive technology center leads to the efficient use of public funds.
Far greater than ever before is the present industrial demand for skilled professionals in innovative product design and development. Yet there is an apparent lack of a sufficient curricular provision for training design professionals in almost all engineering schools. The present study is to propose a systematic procedure for developing a strategy for building an innovative product design curriculum and demonstrate its application. The procedure consists of three major steps: strategic element derivation, task formulation, and task execution roadmap construction. The proposed procedure was applied to develop a modular curriculum (a cluster of several related courses) covering various subjects in relation to innovative product design and development. The procedure seems quite effective and useful for developing a curriculum that is strategically well differentiated based on the unique characteristics of a particular educational institute and its applicability seems not limited to a specific domain.
In order to provide appropriate decision supports in medical domain, it is required that clinical knowledge should be implemented in a computable form and integrated with hospital information systems. Healthcare organizations are increasingly adopting tools that provide decision support functions to improve patient outcomes and reduce medical errors. This paper proposes a process centric clinical decision support system based on medical knowledge. The proposed system consists of three major parts - CPG (Clinical Practice Guideline) repository, service pool, and decision support module. The decision support module interprets knowledge base generated by the CPG and service part and then generates a personalized and patient centered clinical process satisfying specific requirements of an individual patient during the entire treatment in hospitals. The proposed system helps health professionals to select appropriate clinical procedures according to the circumstances of each patient resulting in improving the quality of care and reducing medical errors.

There have been few attempts made to perform a systematic analysis of the various risk influence factors in building development projects. This study suggests an analysis of the risk influence factors in the process of feasibility studies for apartment building development projects. To reflect the voice of professionals, surveys were carried out. In addition, an FD-AHP method was applied to identify the importance of the risk influence factors. Through the surveys, major risk factors were separately identified as direct and/or indirect elements. An analysis of risk influence factors supports an effective feasibility study of apartment building development projects.
