Emotional Interface Technologies for Service Robot (서비스 로봇을 위한 감성인터페이스 기술)

  • The emotional interface is essential technology for the robot to provide the proper service to the user. In this research, we developed emotional components for the service robot such as a neural network based facial expression recognizer, emotion expression technologies based on 3D graphical face expression and joints movements, considering a user's reaction, behavior selection technology for emotion expression. We used our humanoid robots, AMI and AMIET as the test-beds of our emotional interface. We researched on the emotional interaction between a service robot and a user by integrating the developed technologies. Emotional interface technology for the service robot, enhance the performance of friendly interaction to the service robot, to increase the diversity of the service and the value-added of the robot for human. and it elevates the market growth and also contribute to the popularization of the robot. The emotional interface technology can enhance the performance of friendly interaction of the service robot. Emotional Communication on Interactive Typography System

  • In this paper, we propose a novel method for developing expressive typography authoring tools with personal emotions. Our goal is to implement an interactive typography system that does not rely on any particular language and provides an easy, natural user interface and allows for immediate interaction. For this purpose, we converted the text data entered by a user to image data. The image data was then used for interaction with the user. The data was synchronized with the user's skeleton information obtained from the depth camera. We decomposed the characters using the formality of language to provide a typographical movement that responds more dynamically to the user's motion. Thus, this system provides interaction as a unit of characters rather than as a whole character, allowing the user to have emotional and aesthetic emotional immersion into his or her creation.

  • The purposed of this study is to analyze the performance-art facilities. Research methods were reference study (interaction, local performance-art facilities) and research on the actual condition (on 4 local performance-art facilities for field investigation). Consequently emotional interractive space design makes people satisfied with their five senses, communication with people increase and enable people to experience something new that they haven't experienced before transcending time and space. Interaction design is designing experience of user through the interaction for human, thing, system, and space. The result of this research is to found out the possibility of emotional interaction design concept applied in public service area as a plan to revitalize the performance-art facilities.

  • The importance of the interaction capability of a robot increases as the application of a robot is extended to a human's daily life. In this paper, a portable mediate interface Handybot is developed with various interaction channels to be used with an intelligent home service robot. The Handybot has a task-oriented channel of an icon language as well as a verbal interface. It also has an emotional interaction channel that recognizes a user's emotional state from facial expression and speech, transmits that state to the robot, and expresses the robot's emotional state to the user. It is expected that the Handybot will reduce spatial problems that may exist in human-robot interactions, propose a new interaction method, and help creating rich and continuous interactions between human users and robots.

Efficient Emotional Relaxation Framework with Anisotropic Features Based Dijkstra Algorithm

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient emotional relaxation framework using Dijkstra algorithm based on anisotropic features. Emotional relaxation is as important as emotional analysis. This is a framework that can automatically alleviate the person's depression or loneliness. This is very important for HCI (Human-Computer Interaction). In this paper, 1) Emotion value changing from facial expression is calculated using Microsoft's Emotion API, 2) Using these differences in emotion values, we recognize abnormal feelings such as depression or loneliness. 3) Finally, emotional mesh based matching process considering the emotional histogram and anisotropic characteristics is proposed, which suggests emotional relaxation to the user. In this paper, we propose a system which can recognize the change of emotion easily by using face image and train personal emotion by emotion relaxation.

A Structural Relationship Among the Related Variables of Children's Internalizing and Externalizing Problems (아동의 내면화·외현화문제행동 관련변인들 간의 인과적 구조분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationship between the related variables of children's internalization and externalization of problems. A total of 709 elementary school students residing in Daegu City and Kyungpook province completed questionnaires which assessed family interaction functions, emotional regulation, self-control, and internalization and externalization of problems. The sample variance-covariance matrix was analyzed using AMOS 19.0, and a maximum likelihood minimization function. Goodness of fit was evaluated using the SRMS, RMSEA, and its 90% confidence interval, CFI, and TLI. The results were as follows : First, the function of family interaction, and emotional regulation had a significant direct effect on the internalization of problems. Moreover, emotional regulation, self-control and internalization of problems had a statistically substantial direct effect on the externalization of problems. Second, family interaction functions did not have a statistically significant direct on children's externalization of problems, although it may well have an indirect effect on children's externalization of problems through emotional regulation and self-control. Finally, self-control did not enjoy a direct effect on children's internalization of problems.

  • The rapid development of the mobile internet has gradually changed the carrier of electronic games from PC to mobile. mobile games have become an excellent choice for many people to spend their spare time and enjoy life. Among many types of mobile games, Number of users of FPS games has increased rapidly in recent years. Based on the 《Emotional Design》 proposed by Donald Norman, this article compares the interaction design of China's most popular FPS game 《Game for peace》 and Korea's most popular FPS game 《PUBG》, and analyzes their similarities and differences, and then use that as a basis to summarize the three levels of emotional design-Visceral level, Behavior level, and Reflection level, which is the user interface, interaction mode, and interaction experience in interaction design Emotional expression on the two games. This theory provides suggestions for interactive design in the information industry such as mobile games.

A Study on the Interaction Elements and Emotional Design of Art Museum Applications: Focusing on Application Art Keys (미술관 애플리케이션의 인터랙션 요소 및 감성디자인에 관한 연구: 애플리케이션 아트키를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate visual arts in interactive technology in art museum applications and to analyze the impact relationship between interactive technology and the five senses. This study was conducted to survey respondents who had used art museum applications. The results are as follows. First, this study evaluates the differences in perception of art museum applications according to the general characteristics of the respondents. They show that there are differences in gender, marital status, age, and social income. Second, this study identifies the impact of five senses and synesthesia on interaction design among emotional design elements. They reveal that visual, auditory, tactile components, and synesthesia have significant effects on interactive design. This study reveals that emotional design elements of art museum applications affect interaction design. Also, it suggests that research on interaction design reflecting five senses is continuously needed to improve audience satisfaction and revitalize art museum applications.

Effects of Childcare Teachers' Active Motivation for Choosing a Profession on the Quality of Interaction with Infants and Toddlers: Focusing on the Moderating Role of Emotional Dysregulation (영아교사의 능동적 직업선택동기가 영아와의 상호작용 질에 미치는 영향: 정서조절곤란의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of childcare teachers' active motivation for choosing a profession on the quality of their interaction with infants and toddlers, and to investigate the moderating effect of their emotional dysregulation. Methods: The subjects of this study were childcare teachers working with infants and toddlers. A mobile survey was conducted and a total of 282 sets of results have been collected. Moderating effects have been explored with the use of PROCESS Macro (version 3.5) Model 1. Results: The main findings showed that childcare teachers' emotional dysregulation played a moderating role in the effect of childcare teachers' active motivation on the quality of interaction with infants and toddlers. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study imply that the ability of childcare teachers working with infants and toddlers to regulate their emotions can simultaneously play a role as a protective factor as well as a risk factor for the quality of interaction. Also, it was revealed that is necessary to give pre-service teachers an opportunity to deliberate on their motivations for a childcare teacher position.
