This study was executed to deduce the factors affecting eco-friendly behaviors and attitudes, to analyse the difference of eco-friendly behaviors and attitudes between countries, and to draw the variables affecting clothing recycling behavior. The sample comprised people from the UK, China, South Korea. The results were as follows. The four factors related to eco-friendly behaviors and the five factors related to eco-friendly attitudes were derived from the results of factor analysis. In the case of eco-friendly behaviors, four eco-friendly behavior factors showed a significant difference all according to gender and country. In the case of eco-friendly attitudes, saving of natural resources for eco-friendly life, recycling for eco-friendly life, and individual preference for eco-friendly life showed a significant according to gender, also recycling for eco-friendly life, individual preference for eco-friendly life, social awareness for eco-friendly life, and company's awareness for eco-friendly life showed a significant difference according to country. All of the variables related to clothing recycling behaviors showed the significant difference according to gender and countries. It was verified that the stronger the behaviors or attitudes for waste recycling and environmental protection, individual preference for eco-friendly life, saving of natural resources, buying eco-friendly products, and separate collection for recycling, the more positive the action to clothing recycling. The results of this study will be helpful to establish a marketing strategy for each country and to deduce a plan to attract clothing recycling form people.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to clarify the influences of constructivist educational beliefs and eco-friendly teaching attitudes on early childhood teachers' mathematics teaching efficacy. This study also examined the mediating effect of eco-friendly attitudes on the relationship between the other two variables. Methods: A total of 399 teachers teaching 3,4 and 5-year-olds in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon participated in this study. The data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 21.0 program and the Sobel test. Results: First, mathematical teaching efficacy of early childhood teachers was significantly correlated with constructivist educational beliefs and eco-friendly teaching attitudes. Second, with teacher's career as the control variable, constructivist educational beliefs have more influence in mathematical teaching efficacy than the other variable. Third, eco-friendly teaching attitude partially mediated between the other two variables. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study imply that constructivist educational beliefs and eco-friendly teaching attitudes are important factors on mathematics teaching efficacy. It is expected that it will be used as basic data for various programs that increase constructivist educational beliefs and eco-friendly teaching attitudes.
It is important to understand consumer attitudes associated with their eco-friendly behavior on account of not only environmental reasons, but also corporate aspects. In this study, we examine the relations between variables influencing eco-friendly attitudes and eco-friendly behavioral intentions, namely, recycling, reusing, and reducing (3R). We first, performed a theoretical consideration through reviews of literature on ethical identity, ethical obligation, altruism, and eco-friendly attitudes, and behavioral intentions. Based on the literature review, we designed a study model and drew hypotheses. Further, we collected data using a survey and processed them statistically in order to verify the hypotheses. A total of 265 samples were collected and the data were analyzed using a structural equation model (-LISREL 8.70). The results suggest that ethical identity and altruism significantly influence environmental attitudes. However, the effects of ethical obligations on eco-friendly attitudes are insignificant. The environmental attitudes have a significant effects on the consumer behavioral intention for recycling, reusing, and reducing. Although this study has some limitations, it is expected that it will positively trigger follow-up research.
As interest in the environment increases, consumers increasingly choose to buy products with eco-friendly production processes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of consumption values and materialism/voluntary simplicity on the attitudes and purchase intentions toward eco-friendly fashion products. A survey of university students in Seoul was conducted and 203 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 23.0. The consumption values consisted of six factors: subjective value, novelty value, social value, brand value, practical value, and health/safety value. Materialism/voluntary simplicity was grouped into two factors of materialism pursuit and voluntary simplicity pursuit. Brand values were found to negatively affect attitudes toward eco-friendly fashion products. The more one pursued brand names, the more negative was one's attitude toward eco-friendly fashion products. Health/safety values had a positive effect on purchase intentions for eco-friendly fashion products and voluntary simplicity pursuit had a positive effect on both attitudes and purchase intentions. The materialist group had high subjective value, novelty value, social value, and brand value among the consumption values, and the voluntary simplicity-seeking group tended to pursue the value of health and safety. This study was meaningful in that it identified the characteristics of consumers showing favorable attitudes toward eco-friendly fashion products.
This study set out to investigate consumers' attitudes toward pro-environment, and their actual purchasing behavior. It aimed to empirically examine the effects of the consumers' attitudes toward pro-environmental products, the importance of the product attributes and the perceived value of the companies' environmental activities, on their purchasing behavior of eco-friendly fashion products, including their satisfaction, trust, and repurchase intention. The questionnaires were administered on 304 married women with previous experience of buying eco-friendly fashion products. The results were as follows. First, the consumers' behavioral patterns in terms of environmental concerns and the purchasing of eco-friendly household items were significantly positive in relation to the purchasing behaviors of eco-friendly fashion products. Second, the importance of eco-friendly attributes was significantly positive in relation to the purchasing behaviors of eco-friendly fashion products. Third, the perceived value of corporate environmental activity was not related to the purchasing behaviors of eco-friendly fashion products. Finally, the purchasing behavior of eco-friendly fashion products was significantly positive in relation to the satisfaction with eco-friendly fashion products as well as the trust and repurchase intention, and satisfaction and trust positively affected the repurchase intention. The implication of the research and direction for future study were discussed.
This research examines the environmental consciousness of fashion consumer attitudes towards eco-friendly products and artificial leather purchase intentions. The survey was conducted from March 11 to March 15 2012 and all respondents had at least once experience of purchasing fashion items made of artificial leather. A total of 426 subjects were used in the dataset; the statistical analysis methods were frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis and multiple analysis. The results are as follows. The study finds that environmental consciousness has three dimensions of public participation, resource conservation, and recycling. Public participation, recycling, and resource conservation influenced eco-friendly product attitudes. Eco-friendly product attitudes influenced artificial leather purchase intentions. The research results show that appropriate plans in fashion business such as usefulness of design and business value will need to be provided to fashion consumers. Detailed information on materials related to fashion products as the content of environment-friendly techniques and recycling methods will help consumers to evaluate environmental-friendly attitude products.
This study investigated the conceptual constructs of ethical consumption beliefs and their impacts on the consumer attitudes toward eco-friendly faux leather apparel goods. The mediating roles of perceived consumer effectiveness and apparel environmental knowledge were examined in this research. A survey was conducted on female consumers between the ages of 20 and 50; subsequently, 300 responses were analyzed. The results of this study were follows: 1) The results of factor analysis and the reliability test on ethical consumption beliefs clearly showed factorial structures that include Social Responsibility, Eco-friendly Consumption, Animal Welfare, and Individual Enhancement. 2) The results of the mean scores of ethical consumption beliefs showed that respondents tended to consider Social Responsibility more important than the other three factors. Ethical consumption beliefs showed a significantly positive influence on consumer attitudes toward eco-friendly faux leather apparel products; in addition, Social Responsibility had the highest effect on product attitudes among the four factors of ethical consumption beliefs. 3) The perceived consumer effectiveness and environmental knowledge of apparel had important medicating roles in the relation-ship between ethical consumption beliefs and attitudes towards eco-friendly faux leather apparel products. This study highlighted a potential marketability of eco-friendly faux leather apparel products and that ethical consumption beliefs, perceived consumer effectiveness, and apparel environmental knowledge should be promoted among consumers to increase favorable attitudes towards these products.
The purpose of this study is to find out eco-friendly attitude and level of knowledge about environment of pre-service elementary teachers and find relationship between these. In this study, we investigate and analyse with surveys about eco-friendly attitudes and environmental knowledge questionnaire targeting the 2nd semester of 2013 32 people of fast stream class 2nd grade. Also, we analyzed correlation between environmental knowledge and the test results of eco-friendly attitudes. Results for the analysis are as follows. First, pre-service elementary teachers' average of eco-friendly attitudes test result is 'cognitive area(60.22)> definitional area(53.69)> behavioral area(52.72)'. These results are re-service elementary teachers are knowledgeable about the environment, but they are passive at the execution act about environment. Second, the average of pre-service elementary teachers' environmental knowledge result is the highest to the protect the environment, for the average(26.25). It is interpreted that they acquired the most the knowledge related to the conservation of the environment. Third, It is no significant correlation between pre-service elementary teachers' eco-friendly attitudes and environmental knowledge. It means that although they acquired a lot of knowledge related to the environment, it is not affected to environmental friendly attitude putting ideas into action about environment.
This study was to develop environmental education activities using advertisement as well as investigate the effect of environmental education using advertisements on children's eco-friendly attitudes and environmental preservation knowledge. The effect of the environmental education activity using advisements was examined based on 24 children aged five attending a daycare center located in Incheon metropolitan city (12 in the experimental group and 12 in the control group). This study was executed 12 times (twice a week) in both the experimental group and comparative group as the environmental education using advertisements was developed and executed in the experimental group as environmental education according to the life theme's in the Nuri curriculum of the comparative group. The instruments used in this study were the children's eco-friendly attitude scale (two factors, 18 items) and environmental preservation knowledge scale (four factors, 16 items). Children's eco-friendly attitude and environmental preservation knowledge were assessed by pre-tests and post-tests using the SPSS ver. 18.0 program. Results indicated that after 6 weeks application, the experimental group exhibited higher scores than the control group in the children's eco-friendly attitude as well as environmental preservation knowledge. This study showed that environmental education activities using advertisement had a positive effect on children's eco-friendly attitudes and environmental preservation knowledge.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the statistical differences and the correlation between eco-friendly attitudes and clothing selection criteria according to gender and age. 150 people in their 20s to 50s were surveyed for this study. The results were as follows. The factors to eco-friendly attitudes were drawn as seven factors. The difference analysis result for eco-friendly attitude according to gender and age showed a significant difference. The results of factor analysis showed that there were four factors in clothing selection criteria. The difference analysis result of clothing selection criteria according to gender showed a significant difference. The analysis results for the effect of eco-friendly attitude on clothing selection criteria showed that the eco-friendly group recognized health and eco-friendly property as more important clothing selection criteria, but the non-eco-friendly group recognized aesthetic as more important one. The result of this study will help product planners in the clothing product development and the market segmentation according to eco-friendly attitude.
