Solids 3-D with bounded tensile strength under the action of thermal strains. Theoretical aspects and numerical procedures

  • This paper is devoted to illustrate some numerical procedures to solve the boundary equilibrium problems of three-dimensional solids that are subjected to thermal strains. The constitutive equations take into account the bounded tensile strength of the material and they are presented in the framework of non-linear elasticity and small strains. The associated equilibrium problem is solved numerically by means of the finite element method and the numerical techniques, i.e. the Newton-Raphson method and the secant method, are revised in order to assure the solution convergence of the discretized problem. Some numerical examples are illustrated.

OBSERVATIONAL EVIDENCE OF MULTIPLE STELLAR POPULATIONS IN STAR CLUSTERS

  • An increasing number of observations have confirmed the presence of multiple stellar populations in Galactic globular clusters. Multiple populations evidence come from the complex chemical pattern of stars hosted in GCs and from the split or broadening of different evolutionary sequences in the color-magnitude diagrams. Multiple stellar populations have been identified in Galactic and Magellanic Cloud clusters, as well as in external galaxies. In this paper I will summarize the observational facts.

  • Emulsion Liquid Membrane (ELM) is a prominent technique for the separation of heavy metal ions from wastewater due to the fast extraction and is a single-stage operation of stripping-extraction. The selection of the components (Surfactant and Carrier) of ELM is a very significant step for its preparation. In the ELM technique, the primary water- in-oil (W/O) emulsion is emulsified in water to produce water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) emulsion. The water in oil emulsion was prepared by mixing the membrane phase and internal phase. To prepare the membrane phase, the extractant D2EHPA (di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid) was used as a mobile carrier, Span-80 as a surfactant, and Paraffin as a diluent. Moreover, the internal (receiving) phase was prepared by dissolving sulphuric acid in water. Di-(2- ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid such as surfactant concentration, carrier concentration, sulphuric acid concentration in the receiving (internal) phase, agitation time (emulsion phase and feed phase), the volume ratio of the membrane phase to the receiving phase, the volume ratio of the external feed phase to the primary water-in-oil emulsion and pH of feed were studied on the percentage extraction of metal ions at 20℃. The results show that it is possible to remove 78% for As(V), 98% for Cd(II), and 99% for Pb(II).   • Infrared Scanning Near-field Optical Microscopy (IR-SNOM) is an extremely powerful analytical instrument since it combines IR spectroscopy's high chemical specificity with SNOM's high spatial resolution. In order to do this in the infrared, specialty chalcogenide glass fibers were fabricated and their ends tapered to generate SNOM probes. The fiber tips were installed in a modified near field microscope and both inorganic and biological samples illuminated with the tunable output from a free-electron laser located at Vanderbilt University. Both topographical and IR spectral images were simultaneously recorded with a resolution of ${\sim}50\;nm$ and ${\sim}100\;nm$, respectively. Unique spectroscopic features were identified in all samples, with spectral images exhibiting resolutions of up to ${\lambda}/60$, or at least 30 times better than the diffraction limited lens-based microscopes. We believe that IR-SNOM can provide a very powerful insight into some of the most important bio-medical research topics.

V-notched elements under mode II loading conditions

  • We apply the Finite Fracture Mechanics criterion to address the problem of a V-notched structure subjected to mode II loading, i.e., we provide a way to determine the direction and the load at which a crack propagates from the notch tip and express the critical conditions in terms of the generalized stress intensity factor. Weight functions for V-notch emanated cracks available in the literature allow us to implement the fracture criterion proposed in an almost completely analytical manner: the determination of the critical load and the direction of crack growth is reduced to a stationary point problem. A comparison with experimental data presented in the Literature concludes the paper.

  • In order to synthesize N,N-di-(polyoxyethylene) perfluoroacyl amines and the surface active monoperfluoroacyl aza crown ethers, it is performed as follow. Six of N,N-di(polyoxyethylene) perfluoro acyl amines were synthesized from perfluoroalkanoic acids with ethanol followed by oxyethylation with triethylene glycol mono chloride or tetra ethylene glycol mono chloride and six of N-perfluor acyl monoaza crown ethers by cyclization of corresponding N,N-di(polyoxy ethylene} perfluoro acyl amines with p-toluene suflonic chloride-NaOH/dioxane, p-toluene sulfonyl chloride KOH/dioxane and benzene sulfonic chloride-KOH/dioxane systems.

A Study on demosaicking using DCGAN (DCGAN을 활용한 디모자이킹에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구에서는 일반적으로 R,G,B 색 평면의 높은 상관관계를 이용하여 컬러 복원을 시도하던 기존의 방법의 문제점을 정의하고, DCGAN을 활용한 디모자이킹에 관한 연구를 소개한다. 약 2000장의 $256{\times}256$ 이미지를 학습데이터를 이용하였다. 보다 나은 결과를 위하여 R,G,B 색상 채널에 따라 각각의 네트워크를 구성하고 학습하였다. 제안 방법은 Intel Core i7-7770 CPU(3.60GHz), 16GB Memory,NVIDIA GeForce GTX1080Ti 구성의 Laptop에서 진행하였고, 평균 PSNR 22.5dB 정도의 성능을 보인다.
