  • This thesis concentrates on modern design with understanding the ooncept of design thinking. Functionalism and exactness in design result from the project that modern design attempted to change everyday life with mechanical design language. There is thought to be convenient and profitable, to link a function and a need, to make something with building-up process, and to give judgement something by dualism in the other side. That thoughts were produced by not only transition of production system from by hand to by machine but also atmosphere of society that enables one to know himself as a member of modern age.

  • This study is creating furniture design strategies that can upgrade the library function. Today, everyday life is in very strong relationship with the library. In most cases, however, to focus on building libraries. In fact, Because users are living libraries inside the building was in contact with furniture. The selection of furniture and design library is very important. The first thing the process of study, research purposes, surf the web and through a literature search for the second time, and refers to cases examined, and analyzes more than libraries. Furniture Design strategies. The study's conclusion can be summarized as follows. Direction of Library Furniture Design 'identity or symbolism', 'flexibility', 'sustainability', 'charm', 'hybrid' to clean up. And propose a design guide, showing specific examples.

Landscape Design of Osong Biohealth Technopolis Institute (오송 생명과학단지 조경설계)

  • This landscape design proposal was presented to a design competition for Osong Biohealth Technopolis Institute of Cheongwon Gun Chung Cheong Buk Do which was held by Ministry of Health and Welfare in March 2004. The site is located in. Osong Li, Kang Wei Myun, Cheonwon Gun, Chung Cheong Buk Do and has an area of $402,600m^2$. The judging criteria for landscape design set by the client could be articulated as follows: an environment friendly design respecting the surrounding environment, a functionally efficient site plan by clustering buildings with similar uses, a site plan having 'front yard' by locating buildings in rear areas toward existing 'groves'. The proposal set the main design concept of this project as 'clustering'. By doing that, existing grades and plants can be saved, buildings with similar uses can be clustered, huge 'front yard' as a symbolic image of this project can be achieved, and finally many small open spaces for everyday life can be designed accordingly.

  • This is a study for importance of creativity in design. In the modern industrial developments in Korea has brought increase of consumptional products, by this reason. we are interested in the advertising industry for purpose of booming currents. But Comparing with the development of general advertising industry, it is not so long that understanding of advertising design has become important problm and spacially importance of creativity. Therefore According as the usefulness of advertisement is growing, we are concerned of the study of advertising effects. Now creatived expression is required without a moment delay because of the point of discrimination about too many advertisements. So, Advertising design has a role of positive communication which is passed into the life of modern man deeply. So for the dffective and impactive communication in the short time and on the limit space against implicative message, the study for importance of creativity in advertising expression has common purpose contact floody advertising everyday. Therefore this thesis try to seek Strategies of creativity in order to effective advertising expression.

  • Installation art in 20th century shows an expanded trend as a result of material, time, or spatial expansion of subject, therefore subjects could be either materials or non-materials. This trend says that three elements-objet, space, and spectator-is inseparable essence of installation art. Nowadays, the borderline between installation art and everyday human life is getting indistinctive, and both Installation art and human life are becoming a part of another. By adapting the flexibility of installation art into the interior space, more interaction could happen, therefore, people will recognize spatial and visual character of Interior space as a visually satisfying Installed object. The main goal of this study is to understand changing of spatial composition in consequence of expressional variety as a result of dispersion of spatial elements. Especially, this study gives a fundamental ideas about private character of installations art in commercial spaces and expressional character of modern installations.

Experiencing the Art/Craft/Handmade/Studio Furniture Aesthetics in Postmodernism Theoretically(II) -Interpreting the Postmodern Furniture Aesthetics in terms of Symbol and Metaphor-

  • This study explored interpretation of the symbolical and metaphorical aesthetics in experiencing art/craft/handmade/studio furniture theoretically for 'wood culture experience class' or 'wood love experience class' by the Korea Forest Service because the class tends to focus on making simple wood works involved just in the practical part. Qualitative conceptual analysis as the principal methodology was used to achieve the theoretical context in the experience programs. After the lesson one on defining the postmodern aesthetics in New Design furniture as metaphor in the previous paper, I developed lesson two for an aesthetics of art and everyday life with wood furniture which expresses the metaphorical and symbolical aesthetics appeared as New Design furniture in postmodernism. As statement of objective in the second lesson, I explored that students in elementary schools personally transform and interpret the postmodern aesthetics of New Design furniture metaphorically with the meanings of symbol. As a result, the students will be able to write about the aesthetics of New Design furniture as metaphor in interpretation transformed by his/her perspective of a piece of selected New Design furniture.

A Study on the Design Characteristics of Athleisure Look in Image-based SNS (이미지 기반 SNS에 나타난 애슬레저 룩의 디자인 특성 연구)

  • The pursuit of a healthier life has created life style changes through exercise; in addition, an athleisure look as well as a combination of everyday clothes and sportswear has rapidly spread through sharing based on image-based SNS. Fashion related images shown in an image-based SNS are considered important resources for grasping micro-needs with regard to the sensibility of consumers. Therefore, this study analyzes the design characteristics of an athleisure look shown in image-based SNS. In order to analyze the athleisure look, images of the entire garment were collected and classified to enable content analysis methods that analyzed the design characteristics of each type. As a result, types were classified as sporty-athleisure, modern-athleisure, high-end athleisure, retro-athleisure, and romantic-athleisure. Looking at the characteristics of the athleisure look, it was shown that the design characteristics of each type were well expressed through differences in the direction, material, and details by matching between the items used. This study can be used in design development processes by deriving the characteristics of athleisure looks through an analysis of fashion images that appear in image-based SNS.

Director Oshii Mamoru's Recognition and Representation of Modern World Shown in (<스카이 크롤러>를 통해 본 오시이 마모루 감독의 '현대세계' 재현과 인식)

  • Oshii Mamoru attempts to project the perception of reality about his own modern world as it is through animation. The precedent studies on Oshii Mamoru put their focus on the point that his works have a tendency to represent the devastation of reality as the image of 'a ruin.' In addition, they gave an impression that Oshii Mamoru's animation has gradually developed to expose the 'realistic taste[beauty]' from the design perspective. However, this study is going to put its focus on the point that Mamoru's works were created as an attempt at finding the subversive possibility of the suppressed modern world under the modern capitalism in the aspect of 'everyday life' of the modern world. First, for its analytical purpose, this study intends to do that by dividing the work into the three layers such as space, body and everyday life. In Chapter II, this study, in relation with the issue of 'space' representation, analyzed the space in into the modern, mechanical, compactly capitalized space and also the space just like a closed circuit having the nature of 'repetition.' In Chapter III, this analyzed that suggests the body moving freely between a human named 'Kildren' and the inhuman from the aspect of character's body, through which Mamoru represents the capitalized, reified body of the modern world. In addition, this analyzed the extreme anxiety facing the body into the reflection of the phenomena of 'anxiety' and 'placelessness' consequent on the labor flexibility of the modern world. In Chapter IV, this study, on the basis of the analysis of layers of space & body, analyzed that the 'everyday life' of the modern world was represented in the respects of 'memory' and 'habit', and in the aspects of Mise-en-Sc$\grave{e}$ne, design and direction. In Chapter V, this rooted out the fact that Mamoru suggested the attempt at 'appropriation' based on his perception of reality about such a modern world. Such a finding includes unearthing the fact that Oshii Mamoru's work is raising a question about how to desert and appropriate the modern space. In conclusion of Chapter VI, this drew the conclusion that Oshii Mamoru's work represented the layer of 'everyday life' while dealing with the post-modern themes shown by the existing modern SF genre, provided the 'window' through which people can perceive the 'modern world radically by recommending an attempt at 'appropriation', and blazed a trail in a new realm of creation for animations.

A Study on the Plastic furniture Development since 1960′s - focused on the Kartell′s plastic chairs - (1960년대 이후의 플라스틱 가구 발전에 관한 연구 - 카르텔(Kartell)사의 플라스틱 의자를 중심으로 -)

  • The plastic furniture made of new materials has enriched and broadened our everyday life not only through development of manufacture but also through consumptions since 1960′s. In relation as well to the need of reducing energy consumption and contributing to environment, the weight of plastic materials has raised concerns in recently. It should be pointed out that development of design technology, which would be risky to develop these synthetic materials was the strategic foundation of Kartell of which principal know-how with plastic techniques. Our rapidly changing lifestyle demands a new design that meet recognition of inflection. In conclusion as we are preparing to enter into the 21st Century, we should go forward with hope and do so with dispatch-dazzling all of us with boldness, thinking imaginatively, transform indifference into action, moving things to the next level in furniture industries, asking the "historic background of designing in plastic seat furniture" questions, challenging the very examples of the past in Kartell, Italy. From this study we have found that it would be useful to understand that the development of technological plastic materials for seat furniture has enabled designers to create ore and more sophisticated design in our millennium life.

A Landscape Design of Eunpyeong New Town District 2, Seoul (서울 은평 뉴타운 2지구 조경설계)

  • The Seoul Housing Corporation pronounced a design competition for Eunpyeng New Town District 2 in March of 2005. The authors collaborated on this design and won rot prize. Design guidelines of this competition were to make environmentally sustainable design, to develop as a resort site and cultural place for everyday life of residents, to link with green fabric of the district, and to elevate positive image and identity of Eunpyeng New Town district by creating a attractive landscape. The authors developed design concept and strategy within the guidelines and site conditions. The environmental setting of this site was characterized by mountain to the rear of the site with a stream passing through the district and the front of the site. This is the most important condition for the location principle of residence in Fung Shui theory. Therefore, the schema of the design was introduced by Fung Shui and Chi of place. To evolve design concept, we reinterpret the Fung Shui and Chi in the site combining with modem landscape design strategy, so that good place making could bring about well-being life of residents. By doing that, design concept of the proposal evolved as follows: 'fullness of comfortable life', 'adaptation of nature', 'inspiration of natural force'. This design approach is critical reevaluation of regional characters employing modem strategy. It is a conscious strategy of critical regionalism as distinguished from the traditional site oriented approach. The following are some of the major features in the design: green network and water recycle system in the site, promenade of forest with the experience nature, link to community core, theme gardens with plants having strong fragrances, terrace gardens with different level of housing type, playgrounds and resting places with many types, human scale facilities for residents.
