Deicing system is to melt frost or ice freezed in catenary line when the temperature is lower than $0^{\circ}C$ in winter. The principle of deicing system is to melt frost or ice by Joule heat of catenary impedance. The performance of deicing is dependant of deicing current determined by the length of deicing section, deicing impedance and current division ratio of catenary line and messenger line. So, we present technique for estimating deicing current and process for determination of deicing section in the conventional line. Deicing impedance is estimated using Carson-Pollaczek equation, and current division ratio of catenary line and messenger line is estimated using voltage drop, and deicing current is estimated using power system data of deicing system. For the determination of the final deicing section, we verified estimated value comparing with experiment value of deicing impedance and current division ratio of catenary line and messenger line using low voltage experiment. Finally, we verified the validity of estimation technique and process using a simulated test data of real deicing system operation in the Chungju Substation, Chungbuk line.

Deicing system operated in high speed line is to melt frost or ice freezed in catenary line when the temperature is lower than 0 in winter. The principle of deicing system is to m디t frost or ice by Joule heat of catenary impedance. The performance of deicing is dependant of deicing current determined by the length of deicing section, deicing impedance and current division ratio of catenary line and messenger line. Deicing impedance is estimated using Carson - Pollaczek, current division ratio of catenary line and messenger line is estimated using voltage drop, and deicing current is estimated using power system data of operation secion for deicing system in this technique. To verify the validity of technique, we compare the estimated current using technique of this paper with deicng current of high speed line.

To Prevent the damage of power system facilities by snow accretion on transmission lines, a prototype expert system has been developed. The system has the basic functions of forecasting snow accretion on transmission lines and making a list of all feasible and effective deicing countermeasures to assist power system operators. As estimating of snow accretion on power lines and making countermeasure plans are very difficult to solve analytically, knowledge engineering can be an effective method for this problem. The heuristics about the effect of weather conditions on the snow accretion process on power lines and power system operation for the deicing constitutes main nile base. Simulation results based on past snow accretion accident data show that the proposed system is very premising.
Recently, due to the climate change by global warming, the amount of snow has increased. The situations were demanded to use many snow removal materials. The snow removal materials that used in Korea were solid chloride deicing material. That is calcium chloride($CaCl_2$) and sodium chloride(NaCl). Solid chloride baesd snow removal materials have various property, for example good freezing point depression, deliquescence and economical solvents. However, there are problems such as water pollution, high corrosiveness and ecocide. For such reason, development of eco-friendly deicer was required obligatorily. This study investigated development situation of eco-friendly deicer materials.

Recently the interest in the reinforcing steel corrosion due to the use of sea-sand and deicing salt, marine environment, and carbonation in RC structures is increasing, therefore the studies on the corrosion control of reinforcing steel in concrete are vigorously proceeding. In this study, from the viewpoint of electrochemical process of steel corrosion in concrete we applied the impressed current system among the cathodic protections to reinforcing steel in concrete and ascertained the protection effect by half-cell potential, corrosion rate, and depolarization.

In the current concrete structure of the highway is still the major problem most of concrete deterioration caused by the freeze-thaw and deicing salt, which is of issues that are not completely resolved. In particular, a single freezing event does not cause much harm, durability of concrete under multi-deterioration environment by repeated freeze-thaw and deicing salt is rapidly degraded and reduce its service life. In this study, the exposure environmental condition according the regional highway points were established. The damage condition and chloride content of the concrete at general and severe environmental exposure condition were also investigated. In addition, the experimental test of chloride ion permeability, scaling resistant and freeze-thaw resistance were carried out to improve the durability of the mechanical placing concrete of subsidiary structure. According to the results of this study, in observation of concrete surface condition, the concrete exposed by severe environmental condition showed broad ranges of damage with high chloride contents. Meanwhile, the water-binder(W/B) ratio and the less water content, and fly ash concrete than the specified existing mix proportion is significantly improved the durability. Also, the optimal mix proportion derived for test is satisfied the strength and air contents, water-binder ratio, and durability criteria of concrete specifications, as well as service life seems greatly improved.

Airport GIS is a comprehensive information system to improve security and efficiency of airport. At the initial stage to make it real, the current status of domestic and international regulations along with relevant standardization bas been reviewed. Gimpo Airport becomes a test-bed to get some ideas about how to bring the airport GIS into workflow by building service model and basic design based on current status and demand analysis of the airport. The 6 service models primarily brought into the project are as follows: (1) Local vehicles safety management in airside, (2) Intelligent traffic control between flights and vehicles at main cross points, (3) Dynamic safety management against FOD in airside and breakage on pavement, (4) Special support vehicle management such as deicing remotely controlled, (5) Response and support for fire vehicles and ambulances of signatory institutions in emergency. The upcoming research topic aims at drawing a specific design and building integrated system in the future.

Concrete is an economical construction material and for that reason it is widely used in buildings and infrastructures. The use of deicing salts, expansion joint failure, and freeze-thaw cycles have led to concrete bridge girders experiencing corrosion of steel reinforcement and becoming unsafe for driving. The goal of this research is to assess the effectiveness of current and possible repair techniques for the end region of damaged prestressed concrete girders. To do this, three American Association of State Highway and Transportation prestressed concrete girders were tested to failure, repaired, and retested. Three different repair materials were tested including carbon fiber, glass fiber, and surface mounted rods. Each different repair material was also tested with and without injected epoxy. Comparisons were then made to determine if injecting epoxy had a positive effect on stiffness and strength recovery as well as which repair type regained the largest percentage of original strength.

The cementitious composites have been developed to satisfy various demands of the construction market. The conductive concrete, which is a carbon-based cementitious composite, was used for the deicing or the detecting the internal crack. The cement-based battery is a technology that applies the basic concept of the alkaline battery to these conductive concretes. The cementitious composites could have a function as batteries, through a mixing of anode and cathode, which were consist of the zinc and manganese dioxide powder. The carbon-based materials, which have a significant effect on electrical properties, could be considered as the main variable in cement-based batteries. Therefore, in this study, the effects of carbon-based materials were investigated. Two types of materials, including the Carbon black and Multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCNT), were considered as the main variables. From the experiment results, the electrical characteristics such as resistance, voltage, and current were compared according to the age.
The amount of snow due to global warming and climate change has recently increased. The effective management of snow removal materials will be required. First, on the basis of domestic winter temperature, it is not necessary to get a baseline to less than the freezing point of $-52^{\circ}C$ for the calcium chloride($CaCl_2$) of 30%.. In terms of cost comparison between calcium chloride($CaCl_2$) and sodium chloride($NaCl$), the calcium chloride($CaCl_2$) is 2 to 3 times more expensive, and the supply of the calcium chloride($CaCl_2$) is not produced in domestic country and is in the conditions that have to imports all needed. Accordingly, the effective use scheme of snow removal materials should be considered to multifaceted ways. Thus, the objective of this study is to develop effective method and to replace from calcium choride($CaCl_2$) to sodium chloride($NaCl$) solution in the current snow removal operating system that uses a pre-wetted salt spreading method. The effective method that equals to the quality of the existing snow removal materials was developed in this study through performance tests for deicing chemicals, corrosion test of steel and freezing and thawing tests of concrete.
