A study on the Development of BIM-based Quality Pre-checking System in Architecture Design Phase

  • Recently, the mandate on utilizing BIM implemented by public institutions of many countries has great impact on the significantly increasing practices of BIM. The improvement of work efficiency and productivity, which is occurred by BIM adoption, depends on the consistency and accuracy of data. To maximize the benefit of BIM, the interests in BIM data quality have been enlarging all over the world. The BIM data quality pre-check, which is conducted by designer in the design phase, offers opportunities for quality improvement by continuously assessing BIM data. However, BIM quality pre-check is being conducted under arbitrary interpretation of users because of the absence of specific review factors and assessment methods for checking BIM quality. The purpose of this study is to establish an automated BIM quality pre-checking system to improve BIM design quality effectively and efficiently. It could be expected to meet the owner's requirements and to minimize the cost and time occurred additionally from revising and reproducing data by constructing consistency and accuracy of it.

A Study on Quality Checking of National Scholar Content DB

  • The national management and retrieval service of the national scholar Content DB are very important. High quality content can improve the user's utilization and satisfaction and be a strong base for both the citation index creation and the calculation of journal impact factors. Therefore, the system is necessary to check data quality effectively. We have closely studied and developed a webbased data quality checking system that will support anything from raw digital data to its automatic validation as well as hands-on validation, all of which will be discussed in this paper.

개방형BIM기반의 건축법규검토를 위한 법규유형화 및 적용방안 (Building Code Typology and Application for Open BIM based Code Checking)

  • Recently, Productivity of the construction industry has been decreasing than other industries. Because of this, BIM is being spread in the construction industry. However, quality criteria for BIM data is insufficient. Regulation information is an important factor for initial architectural design evaluations. However, building code and related regulation are numerous. National building code structure in Korea is much more complex than other countries. The purpose of this study is to suggest the typology method of building code and apply to real regulations. To achieve this purpose, the authors have extracted required information to from original regulation for code checking and suggested mapping methods between extracted information and information of IFC scheme. In addition, the authors have represented EXPRESS-G diagram for extracting information from IFC scheme and suggested code checking method through stair case. Output of this study can be used as a base line data for automated code checking system based on open BIM. Automated code checking system will be utilized in architectural design evaluations and supported to increase design quality. It can be used to mount in SEUMTER that is the construction administration system of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).

개방형BIM환경에서의 룰기반 초고층건축물 피난법규 검토모듈 개발 (Development of Rule-based Checking Modules for the Evacuation Regulations of Super-tall Buildings in Open BIM Environments)

  • IFC based open BIM has internationally developed as a solution for interoperability problem among different software applications. Despite much interest and effort, the open BIM technologies are rarely introduced to the construction industry and need more technical development for a practical application as well. This research aims to develop automated code checking modules for quality assurance process of BIM data. The research have analyzed domestic regulations focusing on super-tall buildings and developed open BIM-based code checking modules for the evacuation regulations. The modules are able to validate evacuation regulations such as installation of emergency elevator and fire safety zone. The authors expect to improve the process of BIM quality assurance and enhance the quality of BIM data by this research on automated checking system.

BIM 기반 건축법규 자동검토를 위한 사전정의서 개발 (Development of Pre-Specification for BIM-based Automated Building Code Checking)

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been adopted in variety domain of construction industry. In this circumstances, interest of BIM model quality has been increased. In many countries, automated building code checking system by Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) has been developed and studied to use web based building permission systems. IFC is international standard of BIM format. However, the data structure of IFC does not include all of objects and properties about national building codes. In this paper, we developed the information specification between IFC data structure and national building code to increase interoperability. First, we drew the criteria from literature review to analyze the building code. And then, we analyzed building code and sorted objects and properties for automated building code checking. After that we made mapping table between the sorted data and IFC specification. Using the mapping table, we developed pre-specification about building codes information that does not exist in IFC specification. And the defined information can be used to develop the BIM modeling guide and national building permission system. The pre-specification support increasing the interoperability between user and automated building code checking system. Increasing thee interoperability makes improvement accuracy and reliability about result of automated building code checking.

기어 부품의 검사시스템 개발에 관한 사례 (A Case Study on Developing a Checking System of Gear Parts)

  • Small sized companies have not been successful in systematically applying statistical process control because of insufficient human resources. In this paper we present a case study of automatic checking system for a small sized company which produces various types of gears. A systematic way of automatically measuring gears is proposed and statistical analysis methods are presented. To reduce variation in the measurement data, a standard operating procedure is also proposed. This case study can be helpful to quality assurance practitioners of small sized companies who are willing to develop checking or inspection systems for their products.

  • The method for evaluating AF's quality and calculating of AF checking time is proposed in this paper. For the purpose, the fuzzy control method is used. To show the effectiveness, the technique is implemented and the performance is verified on a NEC's 16 bit-general purpose micro-controller. The result shows that although the number of AF checking times is reduced, the receiver can find the best frequency faster.

웹기반의 공간데이터 구축공정 관리시스템 개발 (Development of Web-based Process Management System for Spatial Data Construction)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 웹기반의 공간데이터 구축공정 관리시스템을 개발하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 기본측량 공종을 표준화하고, 품질관리 요소를 정립하였다. 기본측량인 GPS에 의한 기준점 측량, 수준측량, 창공사진촬영, 수치지도제작, 지형도 제작, 수차표고자료 제작, 항공사진 DB 구축, 정사영상지도 제작 공정 및 공종분류체계를 표준화하였다. 또한 기본측량 사업별 성과품 및 품질검사 업무 현황과 성과품 유형별 품질검사 요소 및 데이터 포맷을 분석하였으며, 이를 기반으로 데이터베이스 및 프로세스 설계 단계를 거쳐 공정관리, 품질관리, 메타데이터 관리, 시스템관리로 구성된 웹 기반의 공정관리 시스템을 개발하였다.

전공교육과정 점검 지표 개발 및 타당화 - H대학교 사례를 중심으로 (The Study on Evaluation Indicators and Validity of Major Courses - Focusing on the Case of the H University)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop indicators to establishing the education system, focusing the curriculum in each department of H University for quality management of the curriculum. The indicator was developed based on previous studies and cases studies of other universities, and the validation of them was confirmed by the Delphi survey method. The Delphi surveys were conducted by two times, and 16 and 15 people participated for the first and second survey, respectively. We derived the following major results through developing the indicator. First, in order to conduct an education inspection of major courses, , , , , and are required. Second, the checking factors should be evaluated based on the contents in each stage, and can be regarded as a core activity in the curriculum. Accordingly, the checking factors becomes the basis for the establishment of the indicator to establishing the education system, and the indicator can be an expression method that represents the basis data for determining the factors to be evaluated.

퇴원환자 진료정보 DB의 데이터 수집 과정 재설계 (Reengineering of the Data Collection Process for Discharge Abstract Database)

  • Background : Severance Hospital is an university hospital which has 1,580 beds. A LAN system was installed in the Medical Record Department in 1992 and discharge abstract data have been added to the discharge abstract database(DB) The previous work flow in the Medical Record Department had 5 levels: 1) chart collection from wards, 2) assembling, 3) abstracting data from medical record on worksheet by 2 RRAs, 4) checking deficiencies and coding diagnosis and procedures by 4 RRAs, 5) inputting the data into the discharge abstract data base by 1 RRA. The average processing time took 19.3 days from the patient discharge date. It had the production of monthly statistical report delayed. Besides, it caused the users in the hospital to complain. Methods : A CQI team was organized to find a way to shorten the processing time less than 10 days. The team identified the factors making the processing time long and integrated three levels from the 3rd level into one. Each of 7 RRAs performed the integrated level on her workstation instead of taking one of three separate levels. The comparison of processing time before and after the changes was made with 3'846 discharges of April, 1999 and 4,189 discharges of August, 1999. Results : The average processing time was shortened from 19.3 days to 8.7 days. Especially the integrated level took only 3.6 days, compared with 12.3 days before the change. The percentage of finishing up the whole processing within 10 days from discharge was increased up to 77.6%, which was 2.4% before the integration. The prevalence of error in data input was not increased in the new method. Conclusions : The integrated processing method has the following advantages: 1) the expedition of production of monthly statistical report, 2) the increase of utilizing rate of dischare abstract data by Billing Dept, Emergency Room, QI Dept., etc., 3) the improvement of intradepartmental work follow, 4) the enhancement of medical record quality by checking the deficiencies earlier than before.
