Use of multivitamin, acidifier and Azolla in the diet of broiler chickens

  • Objective: The experiments were carried out to measure the effect of multivitamin, acidifier and Azolla on growth performance, profitability and lipid profiles of blood of broiler chickens to produce safe and cost effective broilers. Methods: In experiment 1, 240 day-old Cobb-500 broiler chicks were fed diets; $D_1$ (control), $D_2$ ($D_1$ with 1 mL multivitamin/liter water), $D_3$ ($D_1$ with 1 mL acidifier/liter water), $D_4$ ($D_1$ with 1 mL multivitamin and 2 mL acidifier/liter water) having 3 replications in each, and 20 chicks/replication. In experiment 2, 150 day-old Cobb-500 broiler chicks were fed diets; $T_1$ (control), $T_2$ (5% Azolla in the diet), $T_3$ (7% Azolla in the diet) and $T_4$ ($T_1$ with 1 mL multivitamin and 1 mL acidifier/liter water) having 3 replications in each, and 20 chicks/replication in control, and 10 chicks/replication in the remaining dietary treatment groups for 35 days. Results: In experiment 1, the highest live weight was observed in $D_4$ (p<0.05), however, feed intake was statistically similar between diets (p>0.05). The lowest feed conversion ratio (FCR) (p<0.001) and mortality (p<0.05) were observed in $D_2$ followed by $D_4$, $D_1$, and $D_3$, respectively. There were no significant differences between diets for feed cost and net profit (p>0.05). However, evidently but not significantly, the highest net profit was obtained in $D_2$ followed by $D_4$, $D_1$, and $D_3$, respectively. In experiment 2, the highest live weight (p<0.05) and feed intake (p<0.001) were observed in $T_4$. Mortality (p<0.01), FCR (p<0.01), feed cost (p<0.05) and net profit (p<0.05) were significantly different among diets. Considering net profit, $T_2$ was the best performing dietary group followed by $T_3$, $T_1$, and $T_4$, respectively. The lowest lipid profiles were observed in $D_3$ followed by $D_1$, $D_4$, and $D_2$, respectively (p<0.05). In experiment 2, the lowest total cholesterol, TG, and the highest amount of high density lipoprotein were observed in $T_2$, followed by $T_3$, $T_1$, and $T_4$, respectively (p<0.05). Evidently but not significantly, low density lipoprotein was the highest in $T_2$ followed by $T_3$, $T_4$, and $T_1$, respectively (p>0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, Azolla and acidifier reduced lipid profiles of broiler chickens. Considering net profit and lipid profiles, 5% Azolla may be the suitable dietary group for producing safe and profitable broilers. However, more studies are needed to confirm this study prior to suggesting using Azolla in the poultry industry.

The Phonetic Difference Between the Korean Stop Series /p,t,k/ and the English /b,d,g/ Based on the VOT Value

  • Korean is famous for having all voiceless stop sounds. Korean does have voiced stops but they are considered to exist only as the allophones of word initial /p, t, k/. My experiment shows the English word initial stop sounds [b, d, g] and the Korean lax stop series /p, t, k/ in word initial position are similar in the range of voice onset time. If English word initial[b, d, g] sounds are posited as voiced, then Korean word initial /p, t, k/ should be classified as voiced also. Phonetically English /b, d, g/ phonemes and Korean /p, t, k/ phonemes are very similar except the word initial [p, t, k] are devoiced slightly more, but not significant enough to be classified as voiceless than English word initial [b, d, g]. If we posit /b, d, g/ as Korean phonemes, it explains why Korean /p, t, k/ series has the allophones [b, d, g] instead of fortis stops /p', t', k'/ in Korean even though /p', t', k'/ has less positive VOT value than /p, t, k/. If we posit /b, d, g/ as Korean phonemes, then it does not cause spelling or pronunciation confusion either when Koreans learn English or English speakers learn Korean.

  • In this paper, we firstly use Krasnosel'skii fixed point theorem to investigate positive solutions for the following three-point boundary value problems for p-Laplacian with a parameter $({\phi}_P(D^{\alpha}_{0}+u(t)))^{\prime}+{\lambda}f(t, u(t))=0$, 0$D^{\alpha}_{0}+u(0)=u(0)=u{\prime}{\prime}(0)=0$, $u^{\prime}(1)={\gamma}u^{\prime}(\eta)$ where ϕp(s) = |s|p−2s, p > 1, $D^{\alpha}_{0^+}$ is the Caputo's derivative, α ∈ (2, 3], η, γ ∈ (0, 1), λ > 0 is a parameter. Then we use Leggett-Williams fixed point theorem to study the existence of three positive solutions for the fractional boundary value problem $({\phi}_P(D^{\alpha}_{0}+u(t)))^{\prime}+f(t, u(t))=0$, 0$D^{\alpha}_{0}+u(0)=u(0)=u{\prime}{\prime}(0)=0$, $u^{\prime}(1)={\gamma}u^{\prime}(\eta)$ where ϕp(s) = |s|p−2s, p > 1, $D^{\alpha}_{0^+}$ is the Caputo's derivative, α ∈ (2, 3], η, γ ∈ (0, 1).

  • A total of 220 adult male mice (18-20g) of the S.M. strain were divided into ten experimental and control groups. The total-body X-ray irradiation doses used were 50 r, 100r, 200r, 400r, 600r, 800r, 1,000r, 1,200r, 1,400r, and1,600r. The respiratory arrest (mortality) caused by each irradiation doses were observed for 30 days. Relationships between irradiation doses and survival time and percentage of response were examined. Relative Genetic Effects of Duroc and Taoyuan Breeds on the Economic Traits of Their Hybrids

  • For determining the relative genetic effects of Duroc (D) and Taoyuan (T) breeds on the economic traits of their hybrids, 72 litters of pigs, from four mating types, namely TT (T♂$\times$T♀), DD (D♂$\times$D♀) and D-T hybrids (TD, T♂$\times$D♀ and DT, D♂$\times$T♀) were used in this study. The various crossbreeding parameters were estimated by comparisons among mating types using linear contrasts of least-square analysis. The results of reproductive traits analysis showed that T breed had contributed superior genetic effects on the total number of piglets at birth (TBN) (p<0.10) and number of live piglets at 21 days (LP21) (p<0.05) to the D-T hybrids. Estimates of maternal genetic effects showed that the T females were superior in TBN (p<0.05), but inferior in average birth weight (ABW) and average litter birth weight (LBW) (p<0.01) to the D females. Direct heterosis effects were significant for LBW, LP21 and LWT21 (p<0.01). Least-squares analysis of other economic traits showed that T breed had relative negative effects on all growth traits, withers height (WH), body type index (BTI), average backfat thickness (ABF), carcass length (LENG), loin eye area (longissimus) (LEARA), and lean percentage (LEAN) of D-T hybrids (p<0.05). Estimates of direct genetic effects showed that the D breed was superior to the T breed in all growth and carcass traits except the average backfat (BF). Estimates of maternal genetic effects showed that average body weight at 180 days (WT180) of progenies from T sows were lighter than from D sows. Progenies from D females had larger and leaner carcass than those from T females. Direct heterosis effects were significant for average daily weight gains from 150 to 180 days ($ADG_{150-180}$) (p<0.05) and for average body weights at 150 (WT150), and 180 days (WT180), average daily weight gains from birth to 150 and 180 days ($ADG_{150}$ and $ADG_{180}$, respectively), WH, body length (BL), ABF, BTI, and LENG (p<0.01). The results showed that D-T hybrids tended to have superior TBN and LP21 than D breed, and to be superior in all growth and most conformation and carcass traits to the T breed.

배합사료의 자유 및 제한 급여가 거세한우의 성장단계별 증체, 사료섭취량 및 혈중 대사물질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Ad libitum and Restricted Feeding of Concentrates on Body Weight Gain, Feed Intake and Blood Metabolites of Hanwoo Steers at Various Growth Stages)

  • 본 연구는 한우 거세우 258두를 이용하여 배합사료 자유급여와 제한급여에 따른 증체량, 사료 섭취량, 혈중대사물질의 농도 및 혈액상에 대한 변화를 조사하기 위해 실시하였다. 시험구 배치는 전기간 배합사료 자유급여구(T1)와 생후 6-18개월령 배합사료 제한급여구(T2) 2처리로 하였으며, 배합사료의 제한급여 수준은 육성기에는 체중의 1.2-1.5% 그리고 비육전기에는 체중의 1.7-1.8% 수준으로 하였다. 생후 10-14개월령의 일당증체량은 T2구에 비해 T1구에서 많았으나(p<0.05), 20-24개월에는 T1구에 비해 T2구의 일당증체량이 많았다(p<0.05). 총 건물섭취량의 경우 생후 10, 12 및 16개월령에는 T1구에서, 22개월령에는 T2구에서 상대적으로 높은 결과(p<0.05)를 보였을 뿐 여타 월령에서는 차이가 없었다. 사료요구율은 20-30개월령까지 T1구에 비해 T2구에서 유의적으로 감소하였다(p<0.05). 생후 12, 14, 16 및 18개월령의 혈중 albumin 농도는 T1구에 비해 T2구에서 높았으나(p<0.05), 12-18개월령을 제외한 다른 월령에서는 처리간의 농도 차이는 없었다. 생후 14 및 16개월령의 혈중 triglyceride 농도는 T2구에 비해 T1구에서 높았으며(p<0.05), 8, 10, 16 및 22개월령의 혈중 IP 농도는 T1구에 비해 T2구에서 높았다(p<0.05). 생후 8-12개월령의 MCV와 MCH는 T1구에 비해 T2구에서 낮았으나(p<0.05), 10-12개월 MCHC는 T1구에 비해 T2구에서 높았다(p<0.05). 이상의 연구결과를 종합해 볼 때 육성기 배합사료 제한급여는 비육기 증체에 대한 부의 영향이 없고 비육후기 사료요구율도 감소시키기 때문에 육성기의 배합사료 제한급여가 바람직하다.

ON PETERSON'S OPEN PROBLEM AND REPRESENTATIONS OF THE GENERAL LINEAR GROUPS

  • Fix ℤ/2 is the prime field of two elements and write 𝒜2 for the mod 2 Steenrod algebra. Denote by GLd := GL(d, ℤ/2) the general linear group of rank d over ℤ/2 and by ${\mathfrak{P}}_d$ the polynomial algebra ℤ/2[x1, x2, …, xd] as a connected unstable 𝒜2-module on d generators of degree one. We study the Peterson "hit problem" of finding the minimal set of 𝒜2-generators for ${\mathfrak{P}}_d$. Equivalently, we need to determine a basis for the ℤ/2-vector space $$Q{\mathfrak{P}}_d:={\mathbb{Z}}/2{\otimes}_{\mathcal{A}_2}\;{\mathfrak{P}}_d{\sim_=}{\mathfrak{P}}_d/{\mathcal{A}}^+_2{\mathfrak{P}}_d$$ in each degree n ≥ 1. Note that this space is a representation of GLd over ℤ/2. The problem for d = 5 is not yet completely solved, and unknown in general. In this work, we give an explicit solution to the hit problem of five variables in the generic degree n = r(2t - 1) + 2ts with r = d = 5, s = 8 and t an arbitrary non-negative integer. An application of this study to the cases t = 0 and t = 1 shows that the Singer algebraic transfer of rank 5 is an isomorphism in the bidegrees (5, 5 + (13.20 - 5)) and (5, 5 + (13.21 - 5)). Moreover, the result when t ≥ 2 was also discussed. Here, the Singer transfer of rank d is a ℤ/2-algebra homomorphism from GLd-coinvariants of certain subspaces of $Q{\mathfrak{P}}_d$ to the cohomology groups of the Steenrod algebra, $Ext^{d,d+*}_{\mathcal{A}_2}$ (ℤ/2, ℤ/2). It is one of the useful tools for studying these mysterious Ext groups.

SPECTRAL LOCALIZING SYSTEMS THAT ARE t-SPLITTING MULTIPLICATIVE SETS OF IDEALS

  • Let D be an integral domain with quotient field K, A a nonempty set of height-one maximal t-ideals of D, F$({\Lambda})={I{\subseteq}D|I$ is an ideal of D such that $I{\subseteq}P$ for all $P{\in}A}$, and $D_F({\Lambda})={x{\in}K|xA{\subseteq}D$ for some $A{\in}F({\Lambda})}$. In this paper, we prove that if each $P{\in}A$ is the radical of a finite type v-ideal (resp., a principal ideal), then $D_{F({\Lambda})}$ is a weakly Krull domain (resp., generalized weakly factorial domain) if and only if the intersection $D_{F({\Lambda})}={\cap}_{P{\in}A}D_P$ has finite character, if and only if $F({\Lambda})$ is a t-splitting set of ideals, if and only if $F({\Lambda})$ is v-finite.

THE COMPUTATION METHOD OF THE MILNOR NUMBER OF HYPERSURFACE SINGULARITIES DEFINED BY AN IRREDUCIBLE WEIERSTRASS POLYNOMIAL $z^n$+a(x,y)z+b(x,y)=0 in $C^3$ AND ITS APPLICATION

Suppose that V has an isolated singular point at the origin. Recall that the z-discriminant of f is D(f)=c(p$^{n}$ -q$^{n-1}$) for some number c. Suppose that D(f) is square-free. then we prove that by Theorem 2.1 .mu.(p$^{n}$ -q$^{n-1}$)=.mu.(f)-(n-1)+n(n-2)I(p,q)+1 where .mu.(f), .mu. p$^{n}$ -q$^{n-1}$are the corresponding Milnor numbers of f, p$^{n}$ -q$^{n-1}$, respectively and I(p,q) is the intersection number of p and q at the origin. By one of applications suppose that W$_{t}$ ={(x,y,z):g$_{t}$ =z$^{n}$ -np$_{t}$ $^{n-1}$z+(n-1)q$_{t}$ $^{n-1}$=0} is a smooth family of complex analytic varieties near t=0 each of which has an isolated singularity at the origin, satisfying that the z-discriminant of g$_{t}$ , that is, D(g$_{t}$ ) is square-free. If .mu.(g$_{t}$ ) are constant near t=0, then we prove that the family of plane curves, D(g$_{t}$ ) are equisingular and also D(f$_{t}$ ) are equisingular near t=0 where f$_{t}$ =z$^{n}$ -np$_{t}$ z+(n-1)q$_{t}$ =0.}$ =0.

은대구 통발 권양중의 유체저항에 관하여 (On The Hydrodynamic Resistance of the Sablefish Pot in Hauling-up)

  • 원뿔대 모양의 은대구 통발을 권양할 때의 류휴저항을 측정하고, 그로부터 모랫줄의 굵기,권양의 소요 순마력등을 추산하는 식을 유도했다. 1.통발의 권양속도 v(m/sec)와 류휴저항(수중중량 포함)T(kg)사이에는 대체로 다음과 같은 관계가 성립한다. (a)빈통발을 직립으로 권양할 때: T=$48v^{1\cdot0}$ $45^\circ$ 경사지게 권양할 때: T=$50v^{1\cdot1}$ (단 $0.3\leqq v \leqq1.3$) 이고,이들 사이에 유의차는 없다. (b)밑면에 천을 깐 통발을 직립으로 권양할 때: T=$120^{1\cdot1}$ $45^\circ$ 경사지게 권양할 때: T=98v$^{1=cdot1}$ (단 $0.3\leqq v \leqq0.8$) 2.통발의 유류저항의 최대치를 T=$120v^{1\cdot1}$ (단 $0.3\leqq v \leqq0.8$)이라 보고, 모릿줄로써 P.P.3년 로우프를 쓴다면 d(mm)는 대략 $d=72\frac{D}{H}v^{1\cdot1}$ 을 만족시켜야 한다. 3.권양의 순마력 P(ps)는 $P=\frac{75}{120}\frac{D}{H}v^{2\cdot1}$ 이상일 것이 요구된다.
