의령 입산마을의 중층적 경관 특성 (A Study on the Over-layered Landscape Characteristics of Ipsan Village, Uiryeong Area)

  • This study comprehends that the landscape of Ipsan Village is the accumulated output of the landscape management and social behavior by the historic personages through the reference research and field surveys. And the study sorted out the over-layered landscape characteristics of Ipsan Village by analyzing the dispersed landscape elements as follows. First, right before the start of Japanese invasions to Korea(1592-98), Tamjin(耽津) An(安) Family moved into Ipsan and started establishing the a single clan village. At a site with mountain background and facing the water(背山臨水), the village used to be a typical farming one with an organically planned road-system and housing area following the traditional order. However, the landscape has changed drastically since the 20th century with the construction of banks, roads and readjustment of arable land etc. Second, the original landscape, which can be figured out through the 'Gosanjaesibyukgyeong(高山齋十六景)' in the 18th century, shows its harmony with natural landscape: mountain & valley, stream & field, traditional trees, etc, cultural landscape: village, well, spring, etc, and momentary landscape: seasons, time, weather phenomena, sound, behavior, etc. Third, based on the second, 16 natural landscape elements: mountain & stream, planting, etc. and 25 cultural landscape elements: housing spaces, self-cultivation & ceremony spaces, community spaces and modern education & enlightenment spaces were selected and interpreted as landscaping meanings. Fourth, the over-layered landscape which stems from the compositive functions and inter-connectivity of landscape elements which consists Ipsan Village is regarded as 'Natural geographical and Fungsu landscape', 'Rural production and livelihood landscape', 'Confucian ceremony and symbolic landscape' and 'Modern education and enlightenment landscape.'

Studies on the Restitution of the Imaginary Environment through the Comparison of Korean, Chinese and Japanese Historical and Cultural Landscape

  • This study had the purpose to restore imaginary environment involved to symbolic thinking system of Eastern culture discontinued by scientific and reasonable rationalism of Western. To restore imaginary environment, this study selected example places such as Seoul, Beijing, Kyoto which were ancient cities of Korea, China, Japan each and used hermeneutics and phenomenological access method to draw out the element of imaginary environment by analyzing historical and cultural view of example cities. Through comparison and re-interpretation of historical and cultural view of three countries[Korea, China, Japan] in Northeast Asia, as the result of drawing imaginary environment involved within it, it was structured that the spirit and the factor of natural environment of places involved to each cities were reflected as the factor of civilized environment, organized that each element was united, and more sanctified the spirit of place step by step. This study has the meaning as first trial which comparatively analyzed city spaces of existent place of human life by new concept called imaginary environment. It may has the meaning that verifying the universality of imaginary environment involved to historical and cultural view of three Northeast Asian countries, however, there was limitation to examine specificity up to detailed elements of each city.

한국전통정원에 대한 경관선호에 관한 비교 문화적 연구 (A Cross-cultural Comparisons for Landscape Preference on Korean Traditional Garden)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate cross-cultural comparison of landscape preferences among Korean, Japanese and Western groups, and to get some clues to be used in judging this cultural influence. Moreover this study suggested fundamental data for design theory of modern landscape architecture. The results were as follows ; Natural factors including vegetation, water and rock, structural factors and spatial factors could be significant variables on Korean traditional landscape. The mean preference scores for both landscape element and landscape space were significantly different(p(0.01, p(0.05) with the Korean most perferred, the Western in the middle, and Japanese least. There were both differences and similarities in landscape preference among Korean, Japanese and Western groups.

한국 현대 조경의 한국성 논의를 위한 기초 연구 (A Basic Study on the Koreanness of Contemporary Korean Landscape Architecture)

  • The purpose of this study is to mate a basic foundation for the discourse of Koreanness of contemporary Korean landscape architecture by way of searching the conceptual definitions of Koreanness through analysis of Koreanness discourses. The results are that discourses of Koreanness are to be classified in aesthetics type, spatial-temporal type, and cultural type. Aesthetics type is understood as style in terms of formal and design representation planning principles of spatial composition and immanence in terms of philosophy. Spatial-temporal type is understood as contemporaneity. This is classified as the concept of connoting of tradition, and separating and keeping a distance from tradition. Cultural type is prescribed as cultural identity. This is classified as unity, generality and individuality. The intension of Koreanness of these types is represented as an aspect changing and shifting from one regulation to another regulation. First, in the concerns of substantial archetypes like Korean original form, decorative element, spatial composition aesthetic perception and philosophy, Koreanness shifts to the point of view of contemporaniety which is created and defined in history. Second, Koreanness as contemporaniety shows a trend of shifting the point of view which is to be found through the reconsideration on modem history and modernism. Third, Koreanness defined as cultural identity shows a trend to emphasize the differences in other cultures and includes all the modem cultural agents. The number of views understood as individuality and denial are small but provide important points. Programmatic definition of Koreanness is not suitable. This basic study uses a stipulative or operational definition of Koreanness in many ways such as spatial and regional identity. Koreanness study for Korean contemporary landscape architecture requires a systematic understanding of modernity and colonization relating to identity. Also, it is needed to elaborate on the discourse to divide the meaning of a concept of identity.

소쇄원 목판본과 김린후의 소쇄원사십팔영 시문분석을 통한 별서 소쇄원의 경관특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Landscape Characteristics of the Ratreating Villa Sosewon Garden though a Woodcut of Sosewon Garden and the analysis of the Kim, In Hu's 48 Poems)

  • This study was intended to clarify the landscape characteristics of the Sosewon Gaden through interpreting the Kim, In Hu's 48 poems(in Chinese characters) which clearly represented the landscape image of th user about this garden by selecting the cultural position of how then the users of the garden interpreted and manipulated its landscape rather than the scientific position. The following were the results from the analysis and review of the review of the woodcut and the 48 poems through names and scenic element. 1. When analyzing the names, those names due to the human experience were the most. This revealed that sensitive perception and experience was emphasized in the garden life. 2. It was important that can be experienced as nature and human beings come in contact each other at stream. 3. The landscape of the Sosewon Garden empasized not only the elements of the form and their combination but also on the unusual experience of human behavior and climatic element. The elements of the form which was recognized as the subject of poet was regarded as the cultural one of this garden and had an ideological background to convey the meaning of the landscape. 4. The Sosewon Garden was divided into four characteristic spaces as it is considered in terms of the sense of place represented in the 48 poems; the approach space, the space for poetic recital, the ideal space, and the space of pleasure.

제주지역 박물관의 의장적 특징에 관한 사례연구 -제주특별자치도 경관관리지침을 중심으로- (A Case Study on Design Characteristics of Museums in Jeju - Focused on Landscape Management Guideline of Jeju Special Self-governing Province -)

  • As architecture has a role of vessel that contains human life, architecture of museums in a region must be a vessel that contains identity of the region. Jeju Province possesses excellent natural landscape acknowledged by the world. As such, architectural design of museums in Jeju region, differentiated in terms of natural, humanistic and cultural characteristics from other regions, must include identity of Jeju. Jeju has established and is operating so many museums with different themes that it is referred to as the heaven of museums. In addition, museums as cultural facilities must be the measure of cultural level representing regional identity and perform the role of advance guard that leads architectural culture of the region. Also, such excellent architectural asset is an important landscape element that increases value of the region. Based on Landscape Management Guideline established in 2009 by Jeju Special Self-governing Province under such critical mind, this study will support design problems and improvements of museums through case study and analysis on design characteristics of national and private museums in Jeju. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to provide basic data to be pursued by future museums that contain identity of Jeju, based upon the results of analysis described above.

청송군 이전리 당산숲의 경관 특성 및 보전 방안 (Characteristics of the Dangsan Forests at Ijeon-ri, Cheongsong-gun and Perspectives on Conservation Scheme)

  • 수백 년 전부터 농촌마을 주민들이 조성, 관리해 온 전통마을숲인 당산숲은 한국을 대표하는 전통 문화경관이며 국가적 문화자산이다. 문화유산은 진정성 유지와 함께 지속가능한 관리체계를 갖추어야 그 가치를 인정받을 수 있다. 현재, 규모가 큰 소수의 당산숲은 문화재청에 의해 천연기념물로 지정되어 있으나, 규모가 작거나 알려지지 않은 많은 당산숲은 방치되거나 소멸 위기를 맞고 있다. 이제 당산숲은 전통적인 한국 농촌마을의 특징을 결정짓는 핵심 경관자원으로서, 그 위상이 정립되어야할 때이다. 청송군 이전리의 두 개 자연마을은 작은 당산숲을 보호, 관리하고 있으며 그곳에서 당산제를 지낸다. 마을 위쪽에는 명승 제105호인 주산지가 있고 마을주민들은 주산지 물로 농사를 짓고 있다. 이 연구는 이전리 두 개 마을의 농경지, 하천 및 주산지를 포함한 당산숲 경관 특성을 고찰한 것이다. 또한 지속가능한 관리체계를 위한 농촌경관 보전 방법론으로, '농업경관생태 보전지역' 설정 등을 고찰하였다. 주목받지 못한 채 방치되고 있는 이전리 두 개 마을의 당산숲과 농촌경관 특성이 올바로 이해되고 관리된다면, 국가문화자산인 당산숲의 위상을 높이고, 농촌마을 활력 증진에 기여하는 사례가 될 수 있을 것이다.

수원팔경의 형성배경과 문화경관적 함의(含意) (A Study on the Background of Suwon Palkyong and the Implication of Cultural Landscapes)

  • This paper has aimed to determine how the Suwon Palkyong(水原八景: eight scenic wonders) were formed and the implicature of landscape, such as implicit intention and symbolic significance. For this, the significance and symbolic meaning of the Suwon Palkyong from the time of the 'Hwaseong Chunchu Palgyeong(華城春 秋入景)' have been investigated in order to determine the political and social arguments in Suwon Palkyong that surrounded the formation process and meaning. The 'Hwaseong Chunchu Palkyong' contains a variety of significant elements and factors of Pungmul(Korean drum & dance) as well as formative elements such as a castle. Plantings for beautiful scenery and water use for flood control have also been major elements in the development of Hwaseong. Therefore, it seems that the 'Hwaseong Chunchu Palkyong' is a catchphrase for the future image of the urban landscape. Most Suwon Palkyong sites such as Paldalsan, Namje, Yungneung, Manseokgeo, Chukmanje, Hwahongmun, and Yongji(a pond in Banghwa Suryujeong) are related to the 'Hwaseong Chunchu Palkyong'. 'Gwanggyo Jeokseol(光敎積雪: the landmark mountain, Mt. Gwanggyo with snow)' and 'Paldal Cheongnam(八達晴嵐: Mt. Paldal with shimmering air)' have also been added to Suwon Palkyong. Suwon Palkyong is either directly or indirectly related with water including the origin of Suwoncheon(水原川), an artificial reservoir for flood control and irrigation and Bibopungsu in Yungneung(隆陵), as well as the source of water for rituals after the death of King Jeongjo(正祖大王). Based on Suwon Palkyong, therefore, it can be said that water is a decisive medium in connecting old Suwon with Hwaseong New Town and essential element in the natural landscape. In conclusion, while Hwaseong is a 'Designed Landscape' that was created with a specific intention during the reign of King Jeongjo, the 'Hwaseong Chunchu Palkyong is a 'Desired Landscape' that envisioned a future landscape while Suwon Palkyong is an 'Evolved Landscape' related to the business affairs of the citizens. To completely restore Hwaseong, whose value and importance have been recognized internationally, therefore, the fundamental restoration of a cultural landscape as well as the restoration of the original form of the Hwaseong landscape including Suwon Palkyong is essential.

  • Landscape elements of historical and cultural value and elements that have negative impact on landscape due to reckless development teem in rural area. Due to this, local government has established a visual landscape plan. The purpose of this study is to analyze the process and content of domestic rural landscape planning process and to suggest improvements for it. For that, this study measure guideline of Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs against guideline of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. To analyze the landscape planning guideline of australia which is similar to domestic rural landscape planning process, and to compare both guidelines. The results of this study are as follow. The stage of landscape resource survey and assessment progressed systematically, but it was not practical because for the lack of survey and assessment method. Therefore, it should be suggested for the survey and assessment technique. The rural landscape plan, established in master planning stage, do not necessarily reflect local government's landscape management on the ground of abstract technic of landscape management. For this sake, to develop evaluation method for development of landscape element seems necessary.

  • ^x Open space has become the subject o\ulcorner remarkable, new interest ; and many studies have been done recently. In urban pattern, the significance of open space is not its quantity but how it is arranged. The end of this article is to set up a plan for the open space system for Kyongiu city. This paper has three parts : first, a brief discussion of the concept and function of open space ; secondly, a review of open space system ; and finally, a case study of Kyongju City. Especially, this study is focuced on the methodology in conserving and using prototype plan for historic and cultural environment. The result of this study may be summed up as follows : 1) The open space network for kyongju city can be planned out as a belt and ripple pattern. 2) The linear element of open space must play an important role in connecting each element with the whole open space system. 3 ) The Hwangseong pork can be the focal element of the open space system.
