  • Purpose : This study aimed to investigate the correlation between social participation and interpersonal relationships after stroke. Methods : Scores for the Korean version of the Reintegration to Normal Living Index (K-RNLI) and the Relationship Change Scale (RCS) were determined using a face-to-face test for 98 patients who had a stroke between September 3, 2018, and January 10, 2019. SPSS 22.0 was used for the analysis, and the correlation coefficient between social participation and interpersonal relationships was determined. Results : According to the patients' general characteristics, social participation was related to sex, type of lesion, and affected side, and interpersonal relationships showed a significant difference with respect to the affected side (p<.05). The analysis of social participation and interpersonal relationships of the subjects revealed a high correlation with total score (r=.364; p<.01), and all the items showed correlations except sensitivity (p<.05). Conclusion : Social participation and interpersonal relationships are important factors for reintegrating stroke patients into the community. The results of this study suggest a clinical basis for rehabilitation interventions in stroke patients.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how children's sibling relationships were related to their self-esteem. 440 children and their only siblings were asked to respond to two questionnaires concerning the two research variables. The questionnaires used were the SRQ (Furman & Buhrmester, 1985) and the SPPC (Harter, 1985). Ther data were analyzed through correlation analyses, stepwise multiple regression analyses, and canonical correlation analyses. The results were as follows : Warmth·Intimacy and Rivalry (parental partiality toward the child himself/herself) had positive correlations with the child's self-esteem, while sibling Conflict had negative correlations and Relative Status·Power had little correlation. The best predictor of children's self-esteem was sibling Warmth·Intimacy. The next powerful determinants were Conflict and Rivalry. Among the six self-esteem measures, the one predicted best by sibling relationships was Global Self-Worth. The next ones were Behavior·Conduct and Scholastic Competence. The findings revealed that the predictive power of the sibling relationships factors varied considerably according to such status variables as sex and birth order of children and to whether each of the two research variables was analyzed as a whole or at a factor level.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of parent-teacher relationships on mothers' parenting efficacy especially for toddlers. Methods: 225 mothers of toddlers completed questionnaires on parent-teacher relationships and parenting efficacy. This study used technical statistics, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis in order to analyze the collected data. Results: First, there was a significant correlation between parent-teacher relationships and mothers' parenting efficacy. Second, the parent-teacher relationships was an important factor in predicting mothers' parenting efficacy. In particular, when a teacher and mother develop practical collaboration for caring for and educating a child, the mothers' parenting efficacy was higher. Conclusion/Implications: These findings indicate that the parent-teacher relationship is a significant factor in order to improve the quality of parenting. The results especially support the importance of collaboration between teachers and parents and suggest that we need to find practical ways for collaborating in the field. Limitations of this study and implications for future research were discussed.

  • To well design the solar energy system, the correlation to calculate and predict solar irradiation is basically needed. So, this study was performed to reveal the relationships between the solar irradiation and four meteorological observation data(dry-bulb temperature, relative humidity, duration of sunshine, and amount of cloud) that didn't show from previous any other researches. And then, we finally proposed the various order non-linear correlation from the measured solar irradiation and four meteorological measurement data using MINITAB. To show the deviation and accuracy of the solar irradiation between measured and calculated, this study compared for the daily total solar insolation. From those results, the calculation error could well predicted about maximum 97% for the daily total solar insolation. But, the coefficients of the proposed correlations didn't show any relationships. So, needs more studies to make the proper one correlation for the country.

  • This study aimed to identify any possible correlations among the empathy ability, peer relationships, and smartphone addiction of upper-grade elementary school students; the effects of empathy ability and peer relationships on smartphone addiction; and to verify the mediating effect of the empathy ability between peer relationships and smartphone addiction. To this end, the empathy ability, peer relationship, and smartphone addiction tests were conducted among 154 six-grade elementary school students in Gyeonggi and Our findings were as follows; First, in terms of the correlations among empathy ability, peer relationships, and smartphone addiction, the empathy ability and peer relationships were shown to have a positive correlation while the empathy ability and smartphone addiction turned out to have a negative correlation, which was also the case between peer relationships and smartphone addiction. Second, when it came to the effects of the empathy ability and peer relationships on smartphone addiction, the emotional empathy as part of the empathy ability and the esteem out of peer relationships were shown to have a negative effect on smartphone addiction, indicating that an increase of emotional empathy and esteem resulted in less smart phone addiction. Third, in terms of the effect of peer relationships on smartphone addiction with the empathy ability as a medium, peer relationships and smartphone addiction were shown to be partially mediated by the empathy ability. These findings are meaningful in that they could serve as the basic data for the development of smartphone addiction prevention programs for elementary school students.
