  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine whether firms use social media to disseminate good news to various stakeholders thereby enhancing corporate social performance (CSP). Design/methodology/approach - This study collected data from various databases such as Korea Economic Justice Institute (KEJI) Index, VALUESearch, and TS2000, and such social media platforms as Instagram and Meta (formerly known as facebook). The sample of this study includes 3,474(firm-year) observations from 799 unique Korean firms between 2013-2022. This study conducts fixed effect panel regression analysis to test the hypotheses. Findings - First, we found both corporate use of social media, and the number of uploaded corporate news on social media were positively related to CSP. We also found that positive user reactions to the news on social media were positively related to CSP. Second, we examine the moderating roles of firm age in the relationships described above. The results show that firm age strengthens both the relationship between number of uploaded news on social media and CSP, and the relationship between positive user reactions to news on social media and CSP. Research implications or Originality - This study extends the social media research in the management literature by investigating how corporate use of social media, number of uploaded corporate news on social media, and the user reactions on the news on social media affect corporate social performance. For a practical implication, our results allow the stakeholders to better predict corporate future CSP. They suggest that ceteris paribus, firms that use social media actively, vis-a-vis firms that do not use social media actively, are more likely to get good CSP scores. They also suggest that such beneficial effects of social media will become more prominent as companies get older.

  • Because of the cognitive overload which is caused by the complicated information structure, Digital Convergence product interferes with the effective retrieval of the information from the menu. Two methods have been used to alleviate that cognitive overload by making an effective menu structure; physical menu structure method which is related with the width and depth of the menu, semantic menu structure method which is related with the menu title. In this research, we tried to demonstrate the effectiveness of the menu structure designing method by suggesting a new semantic methodology which uses the Fixation and Fixation duration which are accompanied by the visual search. Because the Fixation is automatically processed by the human cognitive model, we could easily recognize whether the information structure is correspond to the cognitive model or not. From this fact we established the hypothesis that the number of cognitively well established menu structures are fewer than that of the wrongly designed menu structures in terms of the Fixation number and Duration. To verify this hypothesis, we compared the Fixation number and Duration of the modified menu structures with those of the original menu structures by using the Eye-Tracking experiment. As a result, we could find the significant decrease of the Fixation number and Duration after modification. Therefore we could recognize that the modified menu structure was more effective than the original menu structure. In sum, the newly suggested menu structure designing methodology which uses the Fixation and Fixation Duration accompanied by the visual search was proved to be a very effective method.

  • As the 4th industrial revolution is in full swing and next-generation ICT(Information & Communications Technology) convergence technology is being developed, various smart construction technologies are being rapidly introduced in the construction field to respond to technological changes. In particular, since the earth-volume calculation process for site design accounts for a large part of the design cost at the construction site, related researches are being actively conducted to improve the efficiency of the process and accurately calculate the earth-volume. The purpose of this study is to present a method for quickly constructing the topography of a construction site in 3D and efficiently calculating earth-volume using the results. For this purpose, the construction site was constructed as a 3D realistic model using large-scale aerial photos obtained from UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). At this time, since the constructed 3D realistic model has a surface model structure in which volume calculation is impossible, the structure was converted into a 3D solid model to enable volume calculation. And we devised a methodology to calculate earth-volume based on CAD(Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) using the converted solid model. Automatically calculating earth-volume from the solid model by applying the method. As a result, It was possible to confirm a relative deviation of 1.52% from the calculated earth-volume from the existing survey results. In addition, as a result of comparative analysis of the process time required for each method, it was confirmed that the time required is reduced of 60%. The technique presented in this study is expected to be utilized as a technology for smart construction management, such as periodic site monitoring throughout the entire construction process, as well as cost reduction for earth-volume calculation.

  • The purpose of this study is to design textbook metadata as a basic task for building a textbook database. To this end, reading textbooks were defined as a category of textbooks, and a metadata development methodology was established through previous research. In order to ensure that bibliographically essential elements are not omitted, the catalog description elements of institutions that collect, accumulate, and service textbooks such as the National Library of Korea were investigated. The elements of Dublin Core, MODS, and KEM were mapped to derive elements suitable for describing textbooks. Finally, a set of textbook metadata elements consisting of 14 elements in three categories - bibliography, context, and textbook characteristics were presented by adding publication type, genre, and curriculum period elements. The 14 elements are titles, authors, publications, formats, identification sign, languages, locations, subject names, annotation, genres, table of contents, subjects, curriculum period, and curriculum information. In this study, we contributed to this field by discussing how to organize textbook resources with national knowledge resources, and in future studies, we proposed to evaluate usability by applying metadata elements to actual textbooks and revise and supplement them according to the evaluation results.

  • Purpose - Blockchain technology, which has the characteristics of credibility, security, integrity and decentralization, has brought innovation to internet platforms that mediate peer to peer transactions, as well as changes to the contents distribution services. Blockchain-based copyright distribution platforms can solve problems which have been articulated on prior internet social networks: increased market dominance of platform business because of centralization with no reward to creators who upload on platforms, and lack of fairness, such as unfair profit distribution between the copyright holder and businesses. With this background, the current research confirmed the factors that affect the intention of usage and behaviors, targeting potential users of blockchain-based copyright distribution platforms. Research design, data, and methodology - Centered around the UTAUT2 Model, the research model was designed with 'Perceived Security' added as Construct, and 'Age' and 'Knowledge Level' added as moderating variables. For data, 607 responses were collected by an online survey, and 601 responses were included in the final analysis. We analyzed the research model and sample by using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 on the collected responses. Results - First, results of research on whether Constructs make positive effects on Intention of use is: social influence, facilitating conditions, habit, and perceived security had positive effects on intention of use, and performance expectancy, effort expectancy, hedonic motivation, and economic value did not. Second, results of the research on whether facilitating condition, habit, and intention of use made an impact on using behaviors, it was shown that only habit and intention of use made positive effects. Third, in two groups divided by age above or under 40, group effort expectancy, intention of use, habit, and intention of use had controlling effects, and facilitating condition, intention of use, perceived security, and intention of use had effects in both groups. Conclusions - The research shows that no matter how great a blockchain-based platform is, if advantages of blockchain are not proved in various industries and utilized in real life like the internet, blockchain-based distribution systems will develop slowly. Rather than a short-term inducement emphasizing technology, there is a need for a strategic approach that can foster the environment.
