  • This study examined the factors affecting the career identity of high school students. We adopted the ecological systems theory by Bronfenbrenner. The consumer typology approach was applied based on their negative emotions, and they were categorized into two distinct groups: unstable emotion group(n=903) and stable emotion group(n=1,107). We used the panel data of Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey. Data of a total of 2,010 participants were analyzed. The results of this study are as follows. In the unstable emotion group, parental supervision, parental excessive expectation, peer communication, peer trust, and teacher attachment significantly influenced career identity. In the stable emotion group, parental supervision, parental abuse, peer communication, and teacher attachment significantly influenced career identity.

  • The objectives of this empirical study were to examine the relationships between shopping motivations, Pine and Gilmore's four experience realms (4Es), the emotional components of pleasure and arousal, and patronage intention toward small apparel retailers. Data from 128 college students were collected through an online survey. Regression analysis results revealed the positive impact of shopping motivations on the hypothesized experiential realms and partial effects of the 4Es on pleasure and arousal. Pleasure and arousal were found to affect patronage intention. This research benefits small retailers by identifying the experiential marketing strategies that positively affect consumer emotional experiences, which are important to consequent patronage intention toward small apparel retailers.

  • Impulse buying has been considered a pervasive and distinctive phenomenon in the modern lifestyle and has been receiving increasing attention from consumer researchers and theorists. In the modern marketplace, spontaneous urges to buy and consume often compete with the practical necessity to delay the immediate gratification that purchasing provides. The purpose of this study is to conceptualize and test the framework of impulse buying behavior for fashion products using structural equation model. Data were obtained from 413 students attending universities during schedules classes in Busan. Analysis of the data, utilizing AMOS 4.1, supported most of the predictions. The results showed that situational variable(time available) and individual variable(fashion involvement) have direct effects on consumers' shopping emotions, including positive and negative emotion. Positive emotions had effects on all types of impulse buying(planned impulse buying, reminded impulse buying, and fashion-oriented impulse buying), while negative emotion affected two types of impulse buying(reminded impulse buying and fashion-oriented impulse buying). These emotional experiences influence impulse buying behaviors for fashion products serving as critical mediators. The findings suggest that time available and fashion involvement are good predictors mediated by shopping emotion to impulse buying behavior for fashion products. The implications of this research for future work on the shopping emotion and impulse buying behavior are discussed.

  • Purpose: Service quality plays an important role in the credibility of consumer behavior as it enhances brand loyality in hospitality business. The objective of this study is to determine the effects of service quality, positive emotion, brand affection, and brand loyalty in restaurant sector by applying the S-O-R model. The study also introduces a new integrated structural model that combines service quality's dimensions of physical quality, interaction quality, and outcome quality. Research design, data, and methodology: This study was analyzed in a quantitative way using the survey results of 395 customers who had experience of visiting restaurants. All constructs were measured with multiple items developed and validated in prior studies. In this study, SmartPLS 4.0 was used to evaluate the research model. The reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity of the measurement tool were verified. Result: Result was found that service quality(physical quality, interaction quality, outcome quality) had a positive effect on positive emotion and brand affection. Also both of positive emotion and brand affection had a positive effect on brand loyalty. This study contributes to the service quality literature and has practical managerial implications.

  • The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of consumer innovativeness on the evaluation of online fashion advertisement sustainability and on purchase intentions of advertising products. Online survey have been conducted of 573 people who had experience of online advertisements. The data collected from the surveys were analyzed by the factor analysis, the t-test and the multiple regression analysis. the results are as follows: Firstly, it has been identified that the concept of sustainability of online fashion advertisement consists of four sub-elements of the objectivity of advertisement expressions, the non-harmfulness of advertisement expressions, the protection of personal information, and the non-infringement of web use. Secondly, the group that has a higher consumer innovativeness shows a significantly higher experience of online advertisements as well as more many internet use hours than those who have a lower consumer innovativeness. In addition, comparing with the group that shows lower consumer innovativeness, the group who has higher consumer innovativeness shows a significantly higher recognition of the protection of personal information, the non-infringement of web use and the objectiveness of advertisement expressions among the sub-elements of online fashion advertisement. Lastly, the objectiveness of advertisement expressions and the non-infringement of web use significantly affect the intentions of the group that has high consumer innovativeness to purchase advertised products, and the purchase intentions of those who have low consumer innovativeness are significantly affected by the objectiveness of advertisement expressions and the protection of personal information.

  • The purpose of this study was to explain the attitudes and acceptance toward the smart clothing adopted by the TAM(Technology Acceptance Model). A theoretical model on consumer acceptance of the commercialized smart clothing was constructed on the basis of previous studies and a review of literature and tested the path analysis. For the data analysis, statistical methods of confirmatory factor analysis, correlation, and covariance structural analysis using AMOS 5.0 package were employed. The results from a web-based survey of 557 online consumers indicate that the TAM by Davis(1989) adopted by perceived value according to market price was able to explain consumer acceptance of smart clothing substantially well. Using structural equation modeling, eight of the six hypotheses investigated in this study were supported. The results of the testing of the hypothesis were as fellows: First, perceived ease of use had a side effect on attitude through perceived usefulness. In addition, the attitude was found to affect consumer acceptance. Second, perceived usefulness was found to affect consumer attitude on perceived value, however, had not significant effect on consumer acceptance toward smart clothing. Third, perceived value was found to affect both consumer acceptance and attitude toward smart clothing. Finally, the attitude toward smart clothing had a direct effect on the consumer acceptance.

  • This study tested how impulse buying behavior for apparel was related to hedonic consumption and impulse buying tendencies and emotion in the context of shopping. A total of 290 self-administered questionnaires were obtained from college students during scheduled classes. A structural equation model using a correlation matrix with maximum likelihood was estimated for examining the relationships among consumer tendencies of hedonic consumption and impulse buying, positive emotion, and impulse buying behaviors by LISREL 8.53. Findings showed that impulse buying behaviors for apparel could be classified into planned, reminded, and fashion-oriented impulse buying typologies. Hedonic consumption and impulse buying tendencies had significant effects on positive emotion. Positive emotion had a significant effect on planned, reminded, and fashion-oriented impulse buying for apparel. This study suggests that positive emotion plays an important role in determining impulse buying behaviors relevant to hedonic and impulse buying tendencies. Managerial implications for apparel retailers are discussed.

  • This study focuses on a consumer-based design process that overcomes practical drawbacks of the previously used design process. On the contrary of the existing method of attracting design attributes by designers' own insights, it present the PRETREE model that attracts the important design attributes of the products based on consumer preferences. The PRETREE model has the advantage that it does not require identifying design attributes a priori. For the wire-wireless telephones, this study presents the identifying process the important design attributes empirically using PRETREE Model. The PRETREE Model has been widely used in the fields of psychology, consumer science, economics and business administration. It might also be useful in the design field because it can identify the important design attributes objectively without designers' own insights.
