  • The trend in construction industry, now, lies in improving efficiency and competitive power in construction management and on-the-spot instruction by combining with new IT technology. Above all, it is safe to say that the application of RFID technology can play a pivotal role at this point, but it is not that easy to apply RFID due to the physical, chemical and environmental peculiarities of construction materials. Thus, a study on the standardization of the usable frequency, specifications, protocol, and package administration is required. This study, as part of the study on the standardization, figured out the restrictions by attaching the existing RFID Tag to the construction materials, turned out the prototype of RFID Tag to perform a field test. In result the effective recognition range varies according to the physical and environmental peculiarities of construction materials; and the management efficiency varies as the attaching method and/or applying method. To analyze the management method (media, process etc.) systematically for the existing construction materials; to prepare more various restrictions and its solutions for practical construction spots will be the key for successful RFID implementation.

  • This research has been conducted in order to assess the effects on quality management factor of the construction sites. 30 companies abiding by the 'construction industry law' and 32 companies abiding by the 'housing construction promotion law' have been researched in areas of quality-management environment, quality-management understanding, quality-management education on construction field, quality-system and quality-improvement. This construction quality factors are to realized the anticipated results not only quality level's increasing, but also company's confidence, competitiveness. We were able to obtain participations of 62 questionnaire, and derived statistics by means of SPSS/PC version 10.0. In this study, we find the bottleneck factor for promotion and upgrade quality management factor of the construction sites and suggest a way out of difficulties.

  • Seoul metropolitan government of South Korea has large population and facilities, and lots of building construction have been performed in urban area. Many safety accidents with causing lives and property damages occurred at construction sites in South Korea and Seoul. Thus, Korea government and Seoul have made efforts to secure the safety of construction sites. In this study, current law and measures by central department and Seoul were analyzed to find limitations and improvement points in construction safety management. Safety inspection results for construction sites in Seoul were investigated to demonstrate the main hazard work and safety risk, and interview surveys targeting safety managing persons were performed according to safety management, inspection, and education. Based on analytical results of current status on safety management, improvement measures were proposed for safety secure on construction safety in Seoul. The proposed measures include improvement of safety management systems, alleviation of safety blind spots according to construction size, strengthening efficiency of safety management, and autonomous safety engagement by construction sites centered.

  • Recently, quality problems, such as the collapse of apartment structures under construction, has emerged as a social issue. Although there are various causes of quality problem and the impact of each problem may be different, the problems from the perspective of construction engineer of construction company are investigated. Therefore, this study aim to investigate the adequacy of construction engineer's experience, number of field engineer, timing of engineer deployment at construction sites, etc. in order to resolve quality and safety problems. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted targeting construction managers to obtain objective opinions. The results showed that the number of construction engineers in construction companies should be increased and that intermediate construction engineers should be increased to enable practical site management for resolving quality and safety problems. In addition, it was found that there was a need to reduce the number of non-regular employed field construction engineers in construction site and at the same time systematically regulate the number of on-site construction engineers, similar to safety managers and quality managers.

  • The communication issue in the building construction site organization effects on the job stress of the field mangers, because the field managers are working with various members in the construction site organization. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of opponents' communication styles on job stress of the building construction field managers. As a result of this study, it was found that the job stress felt by the building construction field managers was differed according to the opponents' communication styles. In special, when the communication style of the opponents of construction field managers was an emotive style or a director style, job stress was higher. However it was a supportive style or a reflective style, job stress was lower. The results of this study are expected to help to build the site organizational management system to improve the performance of construction work in the building construction projects.

  • The competition of construction market is keener, so construction companies are seeking the methods for improving the performance. Construction field organizations and managers should have an innovative behavior to improve the performance. However, construction field organizations and managers are negative to innovation because they are generally conservative. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the factors to influence the innovative behavior of building construction field managers. In this study, self-leadership, feedback seeking behavior and job involvement are selected the factors to influence the innovative behavior by literature reviewing. The results of correlation analysis showed that the behavior-focused strategies in self-leadership and the job involvement influence the innovative behavior of building construction field managers. In addition, the individual characteristics such as marriage, experience, position and type of employ influence the innovative behavior of their. This study is expected to help to improve the performance management system in construction field organizations.

  • In the modern age. Building is getting higher and larger according to owner and social demands. Now when we are facing the need of the cost down and the reduction of economic loss. In this paper, the characteristics of the present conditions of site management were investigated with the field survey. And The Purpose of this study is to suggest the rational plans of construction planning in site management. The method of site management. however depends on experience of a construction manager. in order to solve this situation, it is necessary to create a method of site management that is adequate for the condition of construction. By cultivating excellent sub contractors, we can expect precise construction with a few experts. improvement in qualify of construction from standardization, computerization of each process. And the expectancies of this paper are that it can be used as efficient data for improvement of system to systematize site management work in Korea.

  • Construction Management(CM) that is the business innovation and method of construction management is introducing and implying the needs to improve high cost and low productivity structure and cope with very variable changes of construction market in construction industry within the country. But, safety management system is a very insignificant thing under CM. Consquently, We had been needed for the improvement about what the problem was. Therefore, My study raised the problem to the system and management by making a comparative study of the feature of the management method and the content of the accomplishment of safety management by using the consideration of the case about a big field of construction work implying CM within the country and proposed the active method of safety management.

  • The objects of this study are to increase the efficiency and competitiveness for construction management and field supervision by using IT technology which is a trend of construction industry thesedays. Using RFID technology can play an important role to achieve the goal, but it is necessary to research a standard of using frequency, specific, protocol, package method and reading method because it is hard to apply RFID to physical, chemical, environmental specifics. In this study as a part of planning research to standardize, a limitation item Is conducted with RFID tag attached building materials, and RFID Tag goods which solve the restriction are produced to conduct a field application test. From the result, available reading distance is different according to physical and environmental specifics. Furthermore because the different application method and attaching method make a various management efficiency, the current management of construction materials is analyzed and applied to a construction field to provide to various limitation items and recovery plan.
