A safety assessment code, called SAGE (Safety Assessment Groundwater Evaluation), has been developed to describe post-closure radionuclide releases and potential radiological doses for low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste (LILW) disposal in an engineered vault facility in Korea. The conceptual model implemented in the code is focused on the release of radionuclide from a gradually degrading engineered barrier system to an underlying unsaturated zone, thence to a saturated groundwater zone. The radionuclide transport equations are solved by spatially discretizing the disposal system into a series of compartments. Mass transfer between compartments is by diffusion/dispersion and advection. In all compartments, radionuclides ate decayed either as a single-member chain or as multi-member chains. The biosphere is represented as a set of steady-state, radionuclide-specific pathway dose conversion factors that are multiplied by the appropriate release rate from the far field for each pathway. The code has the capability to treat input parameters either deterministically or probabilistically. Parameter input is achieved through a user-friendly Graphical User Interface. An application is presented, which is compared against safety assessment results from the other computer codes, to benchmark the reliability of system-level conceptual modeling of the code.
The defense M&S (Modeling and Simulation) techniques are being used by the ROK Army for developing the efficiency and economics of national defense at operational level. But the problem we have found is the lack of interoperability and reusability in defense M&S. CMMS (Conceptual Model of the Mission Space) method have been used by militaries of some advanced countries for the purpose to solve these problems. Therefore, we have adapted the same approach in this paper as adapted by advanced countries military forces as named it as K-CMMS(Korean-Conceptual Model of the Mission Space). Considering the special ROK factors, we have suggested the framework of K-CMMS. We have tried to search for improving the reusability and interoperability in defense M&S.
To improve the efficiency and economics of national defence, the needs for defence M&S systems are greatly increased, but the lack of interoperability and reusability lowers the level of reliability in the existing simulations models. Recently, many research activities have been performed and some conceptual models, such as CMMS, DCMF, and KAMA, were introduced. However, these models don't support the whole process of defence M&S system development nor provide integrated domain knowledge and up-to-date data. In this paper, we analyzed the analysts' guidances and doctrines, which are the basic ingredients for the simulation system development, and proposed a systematic structure for all the defence M&S stakeholders to share the standardized domain knowledge, modeling algorithm and data. This will be a logical bridge between Mission Space and Simulation Space, and provide substantial data sets to build simulation systems.
This paper details case study vignettes that focus on enhancing the teaching and learning of geometry and measurement in the elementary grades with attention to pedagogical practices for teaching through problem solving with rigor and centering equitable teaching practices. Rigor is a matter of equity and opportunity (Dana Center, 2019). Rigor matters for each and every student and yet research indicates historically disadvantaged and underserved groups have more of an opportunity gap when it comes to rigorous mathematics instruction (NCTM, 2020). Along with providing a conceptual framework that focuses on the importance of equitable instruction, our study unpacks ways teachers can leverage their deep understanding of geometry and measurement learning trajectories to amplify the mathematics through rigorous problems using multiple approaches including learning by doing, challenged-based and mathematical modeling instruction. Through these vignettes, we provide examples of tasks taught through rigorous problem solving approaches that support conceptual teaching and learning of geometry and measurement. Specifically, each of the three vignettes presented includes a task that was implemented in an elementary classroom and a vertically articulated task that engaged teachers in a professional learning workshop. By beginning with elementary tasks to more sophisticated concepts in higher grades, we demonstrate how vertically articulating a deeper understanding of the learning trajectory in geometric thinking can add to the rigor of the mathematics.

Technology transfer (TT) has been defined as the shared responsibility between the source and the destination for ensuring that technology is accepted and at least understood by someone with the knowledge and resources to apply and/or use the technology. The adoption of TT in construction industries is necessary for economic growth to occur in developing countries such as Thailand. This process should provide numerous benefits for the host sector in areas such as increased productivity, enhancement of product quality, cost savings, improvements in market share and entry to new markets. However, there are many factors, which may impact on the TT process and its subsequent outcomes for Thai construction firms and individuals, including, the transfer environment, learning environment, transferor characteristics and transferee characteristics. The performance and interaction of these enablers will influence the degree of value added to the local construction sectors in areas such as economic advancement, knowledge advancement and project performance. This paper presents a conceptual framework for international TT that accommodates the numerous factors believed to impact on the processes effectiveness. Through a Pilot Study, where 27 industry professionals from Thailand were interviewed, the significant factors which impact on the TT process have been identified along with the strength of interrelationship between individual and groups of factors. Future research seeks to target a greater sample of respondents with the view to validate the conceptual model and apply it on a number of large Thai projects where international TT was incorporated into the project agreement.
The defense M&S system, which has been classified as a weapon system between requirements determination and project implementation, is being developed by applying the weapon system development procedure of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration. The M&S system abstracts and models the real world to suit the intended use and proceeds with the process of developing it as a software-oriented system. Overseas, the conceptual model development stage is staged before entering the design stage after the requirements analysis. In addition, each step includes verification and validation processes. In Korea, while establishing and applying the weapon system development procedure based on the SE process, the M&S system is also applied in the same way as the general weapon system, limiting appropriate development outputs and verification and validation. In this study, the system development procedure of the M&S system is established and presented based on the relevant standards and SE process of developed countries.
When blockchain technology, which shows various applicability, is utilized as a component of a database system, the characteristics of open verification and integrity/transparency of blockchain technology can bring new functionalities or enhanced results to the existing database system. However, when applying this blockchain technology to a database system, the cost versus expected effect in various performance perspectives must be evaluated. These costs include execution time and required storage space, and the performance of the converged system may vary in analysis method depending on the configuration method of the characteristics of the blockchain. This paper aims to propose an analysis model for the entire architecture by considering aspects that are not considered in the performance analysis models of database systems and the unique characteristics of blockchains. In doing so, we are trying to build a theoretical framework as an important conceptual technique that should be considered in the evaluation process of the performance results that can be obtained through the utilization of blockchain components in database systems. What we hope is that this work is expected to provide a useful foundation for researchers interested in the convergence of database systems and blockchain technology in order to construct a system with new future functionalities.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the home-health-care workers licensing education course in Seoul, Korea. Based on the previous research, a conceptual model was suggested explaining the dynamics of perceived educational service quality (SERVQUAL), educational satisfaction and the occupational readiness. The data set for this study drawn from the 297 self-administered surveys were analyzed with the suggested conceptual model by utilizing AMOS program. The measurement models and conceptual model fit well with the collected data set. As results of this study, 5 domains of SERVQUAL were produced including accountability, trustiness, responsiveness, sympathy, and assurance. The results of structural modeling with latent variables confirmed that SERVQUAL were influenced perceived educational satisfaction as well as occupational readiness. Among the SERVQUAL domains, accountability, trustiness, responsiveness, and assurance had significant impacts on the educational satisfaction while accountability, trustiness and responsiveness had significant direct effects on the occupational readiness. The trustiness had significant indirect effects on the occupational readiness via the educational satisfaction. Hence, the educational satisfaction had the significant impacts on the occupational readiness. Based on the findings of this study, we suggest to intense the educational program or curricular focusing on the SERVQUAL elements. Those changes will enhance self-confidence among the prospective home-health-care workers as well as public trustiness on the national long-term care program.
(VV&A, Verification, Validation and Accreditation)과정은 매우 중요하다.
