  • The purpose of this study is to research the similarity and difference of color application in the culture of Korea and Japan. The subject of this research is the costume color of Changgeuk and Kabuki. This survey analyzes Munsell's 3 attributes(Hue, Value, Chroma), tone, and 3D color analysis by extracted color data. And representative color according to Obangsaek is proposed. The results of this study are as follows: 1. High chroma red in Kabuki costume is more used as symbolic color(passion and luxurious) in order to show character's personality than that in Changguek costume. 2. Low chroma YR color(no-dyeing color) in Changgeuk costume much more used because of Korean white robe preference and eco-friendly thinking. But high chroma yellow is restrictive color for symbolic color of emperor in Korea and Japan. 3. Blue is most frequently used in both costumes because blue is encouraging color by the theory of exponents of the five elements doctrine. 4. White in Korean Changguek costume is more used for white robe preference thinking, but black in Kabuki costume is much more used for symbol of power in Japan. The similarity of Korean and Japanese cultural color is to use much Obangsaek, less Ogansaek by the theory of exponents of the five elements doctrine, but the difference of Korean and Japanese cultural color is to use color differently according to preference thinking system.

  • The purpose of this study is to grasp the color situation of buildings on Urban Street, through the color image evaluation to research primary factors have an effect on color image preferences. A scope of this study is district of Sang Mu in Gwangju Metropolitan City. A method of study put out evaluation model after BIB test by photography, spot color. And performed Factorial Design, Multiple Regression Analysis through SD questionnaire. The result of this study show that color situation exceedingly used YR predominates, support, stress color, in the second place used predominate, support color is B, stress color is R. Luminosity showed middle luminosity 4.1~7.0, low freshness distribution. Color image was evaluated modern and cold image and appeared affirmative aspect clean, order, neat image and showed negative aspect stiff, flat image. And 'comfortableness', 'unification' had an effect on color image preferences The result of this study showed that color plan need to improve comfortableness, unification bring control into line color at building color image of urban street.

  • The color-based vision systems have been used to recognize our team robots, the opponent team robots and a ball in the robot soccer system. The color-based vision systems have the difficulty in that they are very sensitive to color variations brought by brightness changes. In this paper, a neural network trained with data obtained from various illumination conditions is used to classify colors in the modified YUV color space for the robot soccer vision system. For this, a new method to measure brightness is proposed by use of a color card. After the neural network is constructed, a look-up-table is generated to replace the neural network in order to reduce the computation time. Experimental results show that the proposed color classification method is robust under illumination variations.

  • The color planning in the hospital could influence the patient's improvement and lead the users from room to room. This study shows the data of present colors used in the hospitals. In order to get the data, we surveyed and analyzed the current color usages of the present interior of hospitals by the individual data from the projectors. The color scheme is analyzed by the rooms which are the common room, the ward, and the examination room along the projectors. It is also analyzed by the finishes of the hospitals, and is addressed to the present color scheme by the means of the hue value, and chroma. The color scheme in the interior design of hospital is an important factor for the hospital users. It has to more sincerely considered to use colors effectively in the hospital interior since people use their organ of vision greatly when they sense things. According to the data, this study is proposed to the effective color plan which is considered psychologically and emotionally about the human activities, in the interior design of hospitals for the future.

  • Three sensory evaluations were conducted to assess the effect of food color on flavor identification. Elementary students and women university students served as subjects for three evaluations of hard candies, in order to assess color preference, to examine the effect of atypical color on flavor identification and to examine the acceptability of harmony between the color and the perceived flavor. Results showed that inappropriate coloring of the three flavored hard candies induced flavor responses that are normally associated with that color and decreased the acceptability. In addition, the acceptability of colorless candies is lower than that of colored candies. It is suggested from it that when there is no color on the product, even atypical color, it`s harder to identify the flavor and to get a high grade in its preference.

We collected data from 303 females in the ages between 20 and 40 in Seoul and analyzed by paired t-test. The results were as follows: 1. The analysis on general color preference, apparel color preference, and apparel possession color revealed that the cold colors such as blue and violet marked higher, and the warm colors such as yellow and orange marked lower in general color preference. For apparel color preference, neutral and brown were among the highest and the rest of the colors were in the same trend as general color preference. Apparel possession color showed defined accordance with apparel color preference. In terms of tones, pale tone marked the highest in general color preference and was followed by vivid, dull, and dark tones in decreasing order. For apparel color preference, pastel, dul1, and dark tones were among the highest. 2. Comparison between general color preference and apparel color preference in terms of hue showed that, except for orange, every hue showed disagreement in general color preference and apparel color preference. Neutral and brown hues marked higher in apparel color preference than in general color preference where as a]1 the other hues marked higher in general color preference. Comparison between apparel color preference and apparel possession color in terms of hue revealed that in most hues, apparel possession color was lower than apparel color preference. In terms of tones, vivid and pale tones marked higher in general color preference than in apparel color preference while dull and dark tones marked higher in apparel color preference than in general color preference.
