Background: Veterinarians may encounter a variety of zoonotic pathogens in their work. Methods: We conducted two cross-sectional questionnaire studies among veterinarians in Finland. Participants were recruited during two Annual Veterinary Congresses. In 2009, 306 veterinarians participated in an extensive questionnaire study, and in 2016, 262 veterinarians participated in a more focused study that included two same questions. Results: In 2009, the majority (90.9%) of the participating veterinarians reported having been occupationally exposed to zoonotic pathogens. Zoonotic infections (15.0%), needle stick incidents (78.8%), bites (85.0%), as well as infected skin lesions (24.2%) were reported. In 2009, 8.2% of the participants fully agreed with the statement "I have good knowledge of zoonoses and their prevention"; in 2016, the proportion was 10.3%. The reported use of protective practices and personal protective equipment in connection with specific veterinary procedures indicated that there was room for improvement, particularly in protection from pathogens that are transmissible via inhalation and mucous membranes. Conclusion: The results confirm that veterinarians are commonly occupationally exposed to zoonotic pathogens. Education should aim to improve and maintain the knowledge of zoonoses and their prevention. Use of protective practices should be advocated.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze end-of-life care practices in lung disease patients with physician orders for life-sustaining treatment (POLSTs). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from medical records regarding the end-of-life care practices of POLST decisions for patients with lung disease hospitalized at a tertiary hospital in Seoul, South Korea. Data were collected from January 1 to June 30, 2021. Results: Of 300 total patients, 198 had lung cancer (66.0%) and 102 had non-malignant lung diseases (34.0%). A POLST was written for 187 patients (62.3%), and an advance directive was written for 20 patients (6.7%). Subsequent treatments were hemodialysis in 13 patients (4.3%), surgery in 3 patients (1.0%), and cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation in 1 patient (0.3%). Among cancer patients, chemotherapy was performed in 11 patients (3.7%), targeted therapy in 11 patients (3.7%), immunotherapy in 6 patients (2.0%), and radiation therapy in 13 patients (4.3%). Depending on the type of lung disease, types of treatment differed, including hemodialysis, ventilators, bilevel positive airway pressure, high-flow nasal cannulas, nebulizers, enteral nutrition, central line, inotropic agents, and opioids. Conclusion: Although the goals of hospice care are the same whether a patient has lung cancer or a non-malignant lung disease, because the characteristics of the respective diseases differ, end-of-life care practices and hospice approaches must be considered differently.
Importance: Rabies is a neglected tropical viral disease most often transmitted through the bite of an infected animal. Objective: This study assessed the level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices of the Shone Ttown community toward rabies. Methods: A survey-based cross-sectional study was conducted in Shone town, Ethiopia, from November 2022 to April 2023. Woreda was selected purposefully, while Kebeles and the study populations were selected by simple random sampling. Four hundred and sixteen respondents were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire. Results: All respondents had heard about rabies from different sources, with the majority hearing from informal sources (62%). Approximately 51.9%, 0.7%, and 47.4% of individuals were aware of saliva contact, rabid animal bites, and both as means of transmission, respectively. The survey showed that 64.4% of participants knew the 100% fatal nature of rabies once the clinical signs developed, and 35.6% did not. Approximately 51.4% of respondents agreed that killing stray dogs was an effective method for rabies prevention. In this study, 72.6% of the respondents had contact with pets, and 36.8% of the interviewees had vaccinated their dogs. Only the educational level (p = 0.03) was associated with knowledge of the transmission route. Age (p = 0.04) and educational level (p = 0.01) had a statistically significant association with knowledge of the risk of not vaccinating dogs. Conclusions and Relevance: A lack of formal education in the communities, low levels of education, and the majority of respondents acquiring their knowledge from unofficial sources are important contributors to the low levels of awareness.
Purpose: To establish basic data for effective management and quality improvement on clinical practice by investigating the clinical practice satisfaction of ophthalmic optics students and optical shop owners. Methods: A survey was administered for 281 students with experience in clinical practices and 105 optical shop owners regarding satisfaction of ophthalmic optics students and optical shops. And a statistical analysis was performed on the survey results. Results: 92.% (97 shops) of optical shop owners responded that clinical practice was necessary and there was a significant difference (p=0.004) according to gender. 4 weeks was the preferred length of practice period (53.3%) and there was a significant difference according to the size of the optical shops (p=0.000). Clinical practice satisfaction of students was 3.50 ${\pm}$ 0.68 and satisfaction for clinical practice program, clinical practice time and clinical practice shop (3.74 ${\pm}$ 0.80) were the highest and there was a significant difference according to the age of the students (p<0.05). Clinical practice satisfaction for optical shops was 4.08 ${\pm}$ 0.64 which is higher than student satisfaction. Satisfaction for clinical practice program was (4.17 ${\pm}$ 0.54) was the highest. Conclusions: To maximize the effects of clinical practice, a clinical practice program reflecting the satisfaction of students and optical shops is required and further research and attention are required.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide fundamental data to develop an educational program for the development of nurses' core competences, and to improve the curriculum in nursing education institutions. Methods: This study, based on a descriptive survey, was conducted with 1,019 nurses working in a tertiary hospital in Seoul. Among 47 core nursing practice items, core nursing practices as perceived by the participants and relevant educational requirements were measured on a four-point scale. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics for the mean and standard deviation, one way ANOVA, and Duncan test as post-hoc test. Results: Regarding the core nursing practice perceived as by the nurses, there were statistically significant differences in 43 out of 47 items according to nursing unit, and in 15 items according to clinical career. Regarding the educational requirements for core nursing practice, there were also statistically significant difference for the same items as perception differences according to nursing unit and clinical career. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest further study on the development of educational programs to advance the clinical expertise of nurses and for the development of curriculum reflecting the actual conditions and requirements in clinical nursing practice fields.
Since its first release in 2007, the National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation (NIFDS) has provided pharmacogenomic and comparative information specific to Koreans to allow regulatory reviewers and researchers to adapt their working practices to pharmacogenomics. The highlights of this year's additions include "Drug Information", "Gene Information" and "Pharmacogenomic information in the drug labels" sections. These new additions provide information on 737 genes, 719 drugs and pharmacogenomic data of the labels or relabels of 253 approved drugs as of November 2008. The latest version of the Korean Pharmacogenomic Database (KPD, release 2.0) has expanded significantly since its previous release. More SNP and haplotype information has been added to the database with the latest version of the KPD containing approximately four times as many SNPs and haplotypes than the previous version (719 vs. 152, and 30 vs. 7 respectively). Through the "SNP" and "Haplotype" sections, the KPD provides unique Korean SNP and haplotype information as well as comparative information of other populations (Japanese, Chinese, European, African) to offer a range of pharmacogenomic data that can help reviewers and the public understand pharmacogenomic information. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of mental clinical practice on attitude toward the mental illness, social distance, psychiatry nurses' image in nursing students. After experiencing mental health clinical practices, social distance(t=-4,29, p<.001), psychiatry nurses' image.(t=-5.89, p<.001) are increased, but their attitude toward the mental illness (t=-1.02, p=.305) is not changed. Significant positive correlation were found between social distance and attitude toward the mental illness(r=.316, p<.001), psychiatry nurses' image(r=.378, p<.001). Based on the outcome of this study, implications for developing further psychiatry nursing teaching curriculum and psychiatry clinical practice program of nursing students.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the nationwide intention to delegate clinical practice of medical specialists in accordance with the enactment of the scope of practice for advanced practice nurses (APNs). Methods: Data were collected from October to December 2021 using Google Surveys. In total, 147 medical specialists from 12 provinces responded to the survey. The survey questionnaire was categorized into four legislative draft duties, according to the scope of practice (a total of 41 tasks): Twenty-nine tasks on treatments, injects, etc., performed under the guidance of a physician and other activities necessary for medical treatment (treatment domain); two tasks on collaboration and coordination; six tasks on education, counseling, and quality improvement; four regarding other necessary tasks. Participants were asked whether they were willing to delegate the tasks to APN. Results: The intention to delegate tasks to APN was higher for non-invasive tasks such as blood sampling (97.3%) or simple dressing (96.6%). Invasive tasks such as endotracheal tube insertion (10.2%), sampling: bone marrow biopsy & aspiration (23.8%) showed low intention to delegate in the treatment domain. Participants who were older, male, and had more work careers with APN, showed a higher intention to delegate tasks. Conclusion: To prevent confusion in the clinical setting, a clear agreement on the scope of APN practice as APN delegated by physicians should be established. Based on this study, legal practices that APN can perform legally should be established.
This study is analyzed to conduct better on-site practices with recognizing importance of the clinical practice of Dept. of dental technology and use it as a basic material in the clinical practice. Target people who are students studying dental technology in D college in Daegu were questioned by survey. Study results below 1. Average score of the survey about satisfaction of the operating method of clinical practice shows 3.26. In detail elements, 'credit assignment(10 credits)' is 3.65 as the highest score, 'execution period(vacation)' is 3.50, 'choice of the clinical practice organization' is 3.25, 'measures after practice' is 2.98 and 'pre-education' is 2.98 as the lowest score. 2. Through the real clinical practice, 'experience of new equipments and technology' is 3.64 as the highest score, 'choice of lecturer' is 3.61, 'guidance way' is 3.49, 'contents properness' is 3.44, 'environment of practice organization' is 3.36, 'evaluation way' is 3.35 and 'practical use of the evaluation material' is 3.18 as the lowest score. 3. The average score of survey about satisfaction after clinical practice of the participated students is 3.46 that is higher than both 'satisfaction about operating method(3.26)' about clinical practice of college and 'satisfaction about organization(3.44)' about environment of dental craft organizations and labs, guidance way of lecturer and evaluation. 4. In the improvement of distribution of the clinical practice evaluation, in the 'practice organization: college' viewpoint, '7:3' is 35.77% as the highest response, '6:4' is 25.20%, '8:2' is 22.76% and '4:6' is 16.26 in regular sequence. 5. In site evaluation reflection of clinical practice, 50% reflection is 32.93% as the highest percentage, 60% reflection is 26.83%, 20% reflection is 20.73% and 80% reflection is 6.10% in regular sequence. In attendance score, it shows percentage of reflecting 50% and 40% is 26.98%, students wanting to reflect 30% is 25.40%, reflecting 10% is 20.63% and no reflecting is 0%. In result of the analyzed data, clinical practice has to be studied more in considering that clinical practice is important point in education of Dept. of Dental Technology and also problems in college and on-site practice need improvements.

This study aimed to examine the effects of integrated simulation practice education for nursing college students on their communication skills, self-efficacy in learning, clinical reasoning ability, and clinical performance through a pre-post quasi-experimental design with a single group. The participants were 41 fourth-year nursing college students from a university located in G City, and the intervention took place from September to November 2023 over a period of nine weeks. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0, and the research findings are as follows. First, after simulation practice education, significant effects were observed in self-efficacy in learning (t=-2.21, p=.033), clinical reasoning ability (t=-2.97, p=.005), and clinical performance (t=-2.84, p=.007), but no significant difference was found in communication skills (t=-.224, p=.824). Second, after simulation classes for nursing students, clinical performance showed significant positive correlations with communication skills (r=.650, p<.001), self-efficacy in learning (r=.440, p<.001), and clinical reasoning ability (r=.824, p<.001). Based on these results, integrated simulation practice education for nursing students appears to be an effective educational method for enhancing their self-efficacy in learning, clinical reasoning ability, and clinical performance. To improve nursing students' clinical performance, it is necessary to operate simulation practices with various scenarios.
