특성임피던스 분석을 사용한 커넥터 성능향상 (Improvement of Connector Performance Using Analysis of Characteristic Impedance)

  • 본 논문에서는 커넥터의 특성임피던스 추출, 분석 방법 및 설계 변경 방법을 제안하고 임피던스를 정합하여 신호 전달 특성을 개선한다. 3차원 FEM(Finite Element Method) 전자기장(Electro-Magnetic Field) 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 커넥터의 S-파라미터를 계산하고 반사손실 및 삽입손실을 추출한다. 커넥터의 신호 전달 특성은 반사손실이 0.9 GHz 이후부터 -20 dB 이상의 값으로 높게 나타났다. 신호 전달 특성이 낮은 원인을 파악하기 위해서 회로 해석 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 커넥터의 등가 회로 모델을 추출하고 특성임피던스를 계산하였다. 커넥터의 특성임피던스는 $90.3{\Omega}$으로 임피던스 부정합이 발생하여 신호 전달 특성이 저하되었다. 따라서 신호 전달 특성을 개선할 목적으로 임피던스를 정합하기 위해서 커넥터의 커패시턴스를 증가시켰다. 이러한 설계 방안으로 커넥터 신호선의 유효 면적을 확장하고, 커넥터의 몸체 소재로 고유전체를 사용하였다. 설계 변경된 커넥터의 특성임피던스는 $58.6{\Omega}$으로 임피던스 정합에 보다 근접하여 커넥터의 반사손실이 대략 10 dB 향상되었다. 신호선의 유효 면적 증가에 의한 반사손실 개선과 고유전체의 적용으로 전자기파의 신호선 주변 집중에 의해서 삽입손실 또한 개선되었다.

Large deflection behavior of a flexible circular cantilever arc device subjected to inward or outward polar force

  • The problem of very large deflection of a circular cantilever arc device subjected to inward or outward polar force is studied. An exact elliptic integral solution is derived for the two cases and the results are checked using large displacement finite element analysis via the ANSYS package by performing a new novel modeling simulation technique for this problem. Excellent agreements have been obtained between the exact analytical solution and the numerical approach. From this study, a design chart for engineers is developed to predict the required value for the inward polar force for the device to switch on for a given angle forming the circular arc (${\theta}_o$). This study has several interesting applications in mechanical engineering, integrated circuit technology, nanotechnology and especially in microelectromechanical systems (MEMs) such as a MEM circular device switch subjected to attractive or repulsive magnetic forces due to the attachments of two magnetic poles at the fixed and at the free end of the circular cantilever arc switch device.

Miniaturized Bandstop Filter Using Meander Spurline and Capacitively Loaded Stubs

  • A miniaturized bandstop filter (BSF) is introduced in this paper. The filter consists of one meander spurline and a pair of capacitively loaded stubs. The meander spurline with low resonant frequency and improved slow-wave factor exhibits excellent resonant bandgap characteristics which can be modeled by a longitudinally coupled resonator. The design of the proposed microstrip BSF is presented, and its performance is measured. Measurements show that there is a stopband from 2.3 to 5.6 GHz with $S_{21}$ less than -20 dB. The total length of this BSF equals 23 mm.

  • Magnetic Levitation System(MLS) levitates a steel ball to the desired position in the gravity field using electromagnetic force. MLS consists of light sensor to measure the position of steel ball and an electromagnet to control the position of the ball, that composes a feedback control system. This work does not use a steel ball with constant mass but variable mass steel balls as magnetic levitation targets. Differential equation of electric circuit for electromagnet and motion equation of the movement of steel ball are derived for modeling nonlinear system, that will be linearized at the nominal operating point. We propose a digital control that can levitate a steel ball of which weight is not known for ED-4810 system. Algorithm for estimating ball weight and feedback control are implemented in digital scheme under pentium PC equiped with A/D and D/A converter, ACL-8112, using C-language. Simulation and experimental results are given to show the usefulness of the proposed controller.

  • In the magnetically coupled wireless power transmit (WPT), the study of the multi-dimensional transmission coil to solve the low power transmission efficiency from the location of transmit coil and receiving coil is being developed. This paper, an important step in this study, presents the magnetically coupled model of the WPT system consist of the two-dimensional transmit coil and verifies by the simulation and experiment. The induced model in this paper can be used to design the WPT circuit and controller for the maximum transmission efficiency.

  • In building a shell-based FMS, which is known as one of the top-down approaches in the field of factory automation, we may take a hybrid simulation into consideration. The modeling of a hybrid simulation consists of real physical entities, virtual simulation, and central clock algorithm, etc. to carry out the whole system operation. In this paper, we sow a way to construct a hybrid simulation software system in manufacturing environments. We bring in the object-oriented methodology in system design and it can contribute in dealing with a wide variety of production types and configurations. Some classes such as project, product, process, order, schedule, stage are defined. These are used and tested by implementing a specific LSI circuit assembly line process.

유압모터-부하계의 3D CAD 모델링 및 적응제어 (3D CAD Modeling of a Hydraulic Motor-Load System and Adaptive Control)

  • This paper investigates the motion control of a hydraulic motor-load system using the Simple Adaptive Control (SAC) method. The plant transfer function has been modelled mathematically. The open-loop responses have been obtained experimentally in order to identify the design parameters of transfer function. The hydraulic motor-load system has been modelled using the 3D CAD and imbedded in the hydraulic circuit simulation program to verify the overall performance. The experimental results confirm that the SAC method gives a good tracking performance compared to the PID control.

  • This study deals with a dynamic behavior analysis of pump control regulator varied the swash plate tilting angle with the positive and negative direction. To accomplish it's purpose, modeling and displacement response analysis about principal parts (spool, servo piston, feedback lever, sleeve) of pump control regulator was performed. We have been able to verifying the propriety of servo mechanism and design parameters of pump control regulator by research results. So, it respect to utilized with useful research data at variable displacement control valve development of variable displacement piston pump.

MPI 브로드캐스트 통신을 위한 서킷 스위칭 기반의 파이프라인 체인 알고리즘 설계 (A Design of Pipeline Chain Algorithm Based on Circuit Switching for MPI Broadcast Communication System)

  • 본 논문에서는 분산 메모리 아키텍처를 사용하는 멀티프로세서에서 가장 병목 현상이 심한 집합통신 중 브로드캐스트를 위한 알고리즘 및 하드웨어 구조를 제안한다. 기존 시스템의 파이프라인 브로드캐스트 알고리즘은 전송 대역폭을 최대로 활용하는 알고리즘 이다. 하지만 파이프라인 브로드캐스트는 데이터를 여러 조각으로 나누어서 전송하기 때문에, 불필요한 동기화 과정이 반복된다. 본 논문에서는 동기화 과정의 중복이 없는 서킷 스위칭 기반의 파이프라인 체인 알고리즘을 위한 MPI 유닛을 설계하였고, 이를 systemC를 통하여 모델링하여 평가하였다. 그 결과 파이프라인 브로드캐스트 알고리즘과 비교하여 브로드캐스트 통신의 성능을 최대 3.3배 향상 시켰고, 이는 통신 버스의 전송대역폭을 거의 최대로 사용하였다. 그 후 verilogHDL로 하드웨어를 설계하였고, Synopsys사의 Design Compiler를 사용하여 TSMC 0.18 공정 라이브러리에서 합성하였으며 칩으로 제작하였다. 합성결과 제안하는 구조를 위한 하드웨어는 4,700 게이트(2-input NAND gate) 면적으로, 전체 면적에서 2.4%을 차지하였다. 이는 제안하는 구조가 작은 면적으로 MPSoC의 전체적인 성능을 높이는데 유용하다.

Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Inverter with Zero-Current-Switching

  • This paper presents a new zero current switching (ZCS) inverter for grid-connected photovoltaic system. The proposed circuit provides zero current switching condition for all the switches, which reduces switching losses significantly. It is controlled to extract maximum power from the solar array and to provide sinusoidal current into the mains. Analysis, small signal modeling and design procedure are presented. The validity of the proposed system is verified by experimental results from the 1.2kW prototype inverter operating at 40kHz.
