  • W. Park [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 376 (2011) 193-202] proved the Hyers-Ulam stability of the Cauchy functional equation, the Jensen functional equation and the quadratic functional equation in 2-Banach spaces. But there are serious problems in the control functions given in all theorems of the paper. In this paper, we correct the statements of these results and prove the corrected theorems. Moreover, we prove the superstability of the Cauchy functional equation, the Jensen functional equation and the quadratic functional equation in 2-Banach spaces under the original given conditions.

  • In this paper, we prove the Cauchy-Rassias stability of derivations on quasi-Banach algebras associated to the Cauchy functional equation and the Jensen functional equation. We use the Cauchy-Rassias inequality that was first introduced by Th. M. Rassias in the paper "On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 72 (1978), 297-300".

  • In this paper, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of a Cauchy-Jensen functional equation $2f(x+y,\frac{z+w}{2})=f(x,z)+f(x,w)+f(y,z)+f(y,w)$ in the spirit of $P.G{\breve{a}}vruta$.

  • We establish a new strategy to study the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the Cauchy and Jensen equations in non-Archimedean normed spaces. We will also show that under some restrictions, every function which satisfies certain inequalities can be approximated by an additive mapping in non-Archimedean normed spaces. Some applications of our results will be exhibited. In particular, we will see that some results about stability and additive mappings in real normed spaces are not valid in non-Archimedean normed spaces.

  • In this paper, we prove that a function satisfying the following inequality $${\parallel}f(x)+2f(y)+2f(z){\parallel}{\leq}{\parallel}2f(\frac{x}{2}+y+z){\parallel}+{\epsilon}({\parallel}x{\parallel}^r{\cdot}{\parallel}y{\parallel}^r{\cdot}{\parallel}z{\parallel}^r)$$ for all x, y, z ${\in}$ X and for $\epsilon{\geq}0$, is Cauchy additive. Moreover, we will investigate for the stability in Banach spaces.

  • Let X, Y be vector spaces. It is shown that if an even mapping $f:X{\rightarrow}Y$ satisfies f(0) = 0 and $$(0.1)\;f(\frac {x+y} 2+z)+f(\frac {x+y} 2-z)+f(\frac {x-y} 2+z)+f(\frac {x-y} 2-z)=f(x)+f(y)+4f(z)$$ for all x, y, z ${\in}$X, then the mapping $f:X{\rightarrow}Y$ is quadratic. Furthermore, we prove the Cauchy-Rassias stability of the functional equation (0.1) in Banach spaces.

  • Let X and Y be vector spaces. It is shown that a mapping $f\;:\;X{\rightarrow}Y$ satisfies the functional equation $$(\ddag)\hspace{50}dk\;f\left(\frac{\sum_{j=1}^{dk}x_j}{dk}\right)=\displaystyle\sum_{j=1}^{dk}f(x_j)$$ if and only if the mapping $f$ : X ${\rightarrow}$ Y is Cauchy additive, and prove the Cauchy-Rassias stability of the functional equation ($\ddag$) in Banach modules over a unital $C^{\ast}$-algebra. Let $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ be unital $C^{\ast}$-algebras. As an application, we show that every almost homomorphism $h\;:\;\mathcal{A}{\rightarrow}\mathcal{B}$ of $\mathcal{A}$ into $\mathcal{B}$ is a homomorphism when $h((k-1)^nuy)=h((k-1)^nu)h(y)$ for all unitaries $u{\in}\mathcal{A}$, all $y{\in}\mathcal{A}$, and $n$ = 0,1,2,$\cdots$. Moreover, we prove the Cauchy-Rassias stability of homomorphisms in $C^{\ast}$-algebras.

  • Using the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability method, we investigate isomorphisms in quasi-Banach algebras and derivations on quasi-Banach algebras associated with the Cauchy-Jensen functional equation $$2f(\frac{x+y}{2}+z)$$=f(x)+f(y)+2f(z), which was introduced and investigated in [2, 17]. The concept of Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability originated from the Th. M. Rassias' stability theorem that appeared in the paper: On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 72 (1978), 297-300. Furthermore, isometries and isometric isomorphisms in quasi-Banach algebras are studied.
