Campus core is an essential element in a university's physical environment for symbolic importance of high educational philosophy as well as hierarchical significance of campus structure. Yet, as modern expansion develops into and out of campus core, a challenging design and planning problem for a growing university is how to integrate a new development into the existing core structure and how to expand the fast-growing development beyond the core while maintaining a symbiotic harmony between the campus core and the modern expansion. Such challenge addresses four design frameworks for symbiotic development of the campus core and the modern expansion: (1) building grouping with territorial proximity; (2) building design rules for form and texture; (3) open space network with pedestrian walkway; (4) use-programming for on-campus student community. This study aims to explore these issues with in-depth case study of the Princeton University campus in Princeton, New Jersey in the United States. The study concludes that the Princeton campus is a result from successful synthesis of all the complex design elements, especially in relationship between the old and the new; and adds further that the development of a modern university campus requires a comprehensive plan that takes into account the older buildings when conceiving the new in symbiotic relationship along with open space network as well as functional program distribution.

University campus has grown and developed along with history of human in connection with transition characteristics of city. In particular, reflecting the features in the times, the masterplan should explore its main roles today when international growth of university is pursued. In particular, center core and quad space, focusing on main components of campus such as main building, student union hall and main lecture facility, are the prototype of campus components and have been pursued to have importance in terms of shape and function as traditional campus space strategy. Recently, however, new strategy has been proposed to explore orders of campus utilizing the underground space focusing on main universities. Design of Hana Plaza of Korea University and Bekyangro of Yeonsei University, the targets of this study, actively explore this strategy. This study analyzed such strategies in terms of concept of space to obtain space, design trend of main universities at home and abroad, and viewpoint of integrated masterplan proposal. Conclusions from this study are as follows. First, concept of quad and center space found in the design of traditional campus is reinterpreted into new design aspects through development of underground space. Second, development of underground space is approached to overcome the limit of existing campus and to present the vision of universities 100 years ahead. Third, ever-changing complicated urban environment has been reflected in space configuration of campus and positioned as strategy to implement this as modern construction technique. Third, implementation of pedestrian-oriented campus has been pursued by reinforcing utilization of inclined topography of urban environment in Korea. This enables to obtain spaces for main activities of students and to implement the space where student support facilities are concentrated and activities are performed actively. Such features can be presented as conclusions of this study.
The post-corona era is having a major impact on university campus life, and campus cultural life has undergone drastic changes. In the process of adapting to this change. The existing face-to-face learning method is converted to non-face-to-face learning, and kiosks representing campus self-service are increasingly used. Subsequently, in order to match the characteristics of public places such as university campuses and provide better self-service, there are no related studies considering UI design elements of kiosks and characteristics of kiosks. This study conducted a survey on Chinese university students considering the characteristics and usability of university campus kiosks through user interface design elements in terms of design by considering previous studies. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between color, icon, typography, which are elements of kiosk interface design, and convenience, reliability, and usability, which are characteristics of a kiosk. In this study, the design elements and characteristics of the unmanned self-service system kiosk UI used by students at four universities in Korea and China were set as the scope of the study, and related documents were organized and surveyed in Korea and China. Case analysis and comparison method Through the kiosk usage characteristics of 4 universities were derived. The usability evaluation criteria use the five evaluation criteria suggested by the authority JacobNidsn. The usability evaluation criteria use the five evaluation criteria suggested by the authority JacobNidsn. The survey and analysis of this study were conducted for students who had experience using kiosks at two universities in China, and kiosk UI design elements were organized through survey and analysis of a total of 200 people.
Colleges and Universities are one of our whole life educational facilities for the disabled regarding job training opportunities are academic goal achievement. However it is usual for the disabled students to be deprived of their opportunities to study and to prepare their future life on campus because of physical obstacles of campus environment. Therefore this study provides what are the physical obstacles on campus, how to use the college's facilities for the disabled to achieve their academic goals and the have job training opportunities just like ordinar students, and how improve the campus environment which is based on concept Universal Design
In 2009, two national universities were integrated into one and the following was newly named Gangneung- Wonju National University. Therefore, this university requires consolidation and promotion of UI(University Identity) as a college brand in order to secure and enhance its competitiveness. The purpose of this study was to design and develop campus-wear, ultimately, it can be used as a part of the Gangeung-Wonju University's UIP policy. A qualitative approach of searching==incorporating books, dissertations, and web-based information==was taken to investigate theoretical backgrounds. The campus-wears were collected from the selected universities in Korea and abroad for the distinct design development. The result of the research are as follows. The concept for the design planning was "wit, exciting & challenge for campus life". The developed UI had focused on expressing positive images of the University. Six items were chosen for the campus-wear design. The goal was to demonstrate practicality and fashion trend. The color arrangement primarily focused on the University's official color and pursued a bright, breeze look. The detailed techniques used for the actual production were printing, embroidery, and accessories. The UI products may not only instill the members of the university with the spirit and pride by strengthening the sense of belonging, but also create a synergistic effect in education by boosting the university promotion and by newly establishing standing as the integrated university.

This study is to analyze the satisfaction and the image evaluation of landscape elements in outdoor space by types of the university campus. The results are as follows. 1) Out of outdoor elements at university campus, planting area, resting area, access road, and water feature are recognized as major landscape elements. Among them, planting area and access roads are evaluated low in terms of satisfaction levels, therefore, improvement on these elements are required. 2) In outdoor space image evaluation, university campus has image such as 'simple', 'clear', and 'safe'. By scale of universities, both 'A' university, which is the biggest in terms of size of campus, and 'B' university, which has a medium sized campus, have a positive image. However, 'C' university, which is the smallest in terms of size of campus, has a passive and negative image. 3) 6 factors are extracted through Factor Analysis for image evaluation. All of the universities show positive image in the categories of 'clarity' and 'familiarity', however, 'B' university and 'C' university show negative image in the category of 'scale'. 4) In Correlation Analysis between landscape elements satisfaction level and image evaluation, it is showed that the group of landscape facility becomes a relation factor of overall image evaluation. As a result, the higher satisfaction level goes, the better image evaluation of overall outdoor space at university campus is.
