Pattern recognition in three dimensional image is highly sensitive to assigned value and formation of voxels (pixels for two dimension case). However, occurred while digital imaging, digitization error leads to unpredictable noises in image data. Skeletonization, a powerful tool of pattern recognition, is sensitively dependent on boundary formation. Without successful controlling of the noises, the results of skeletonization can not be allowed as a stable solution. To minimize the effect of noises affecting to boundary formation, we developed a robust processing method useful in skeletonization technique for pattern recognition. Finally, we provide rigorous test results achieved throughout simulation on analytic three dimensional image.
A novel probabilistic approach is presented for estimating the equivalent static wind loads that produce a static response of the structure, which is "equivalent" in a probabilistic sense, to the extreme dynamic responses due to the unsteady pressure random field induced by the wind. This approach has especially been developed for complex structures (such as stadium roofs) for which the unsteady pressure field is measured in a boundary layer wind tunnel with a turbulent incident flow. The proposed method deals with the non-Gaussian nature of the unsteady pressure random field and presents a model that yields a good representation of both the quasi-static part and the dynamical part of the structural responses. The proposed approach is experimentally validated with a relatively simple application and is then applied to a stadium roof structure for which experimental measurements of unsteady pressures have been performed in boundary layer wind tunnel.
An efficient automatic mesh generator suitable for the harsh model, which contains abrupt regions and thin layers, is implemented. It adopts two kinds of node placement scheme. In the beginning, the initial nodes on the boundary are generated automatically by an efficient boundary node generation scheme. And then the inner nodes are placed using nodal spacing value technique repeatedly from the initial mesh to final mesh. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is verified by a thin film micro-strip line modeling, where the final mesh contains no sliver elements.
Various modeling techniques for ultrasonic wave propagation and scattering problems in finite solid media are presented. Elastodynamic boundary value problems in inhomogeneous multi-layered plate-like structures are set up for modal analysis of guided wave propagation and numerically solved to obtain dispersion curves which show propagation characteristics of guided waves. As a powerful modeling tool to overcome such numerical difficulties in wave scattering problems as the geometrical complexity and mode conversion, the Boundary Element Method(BEM) is introduced and is combined with the normal mode expansion technique to develop the hybrid BEM, an efficient technique for modeling multi-mode conversion of guided wave scattering problems.
In this paper, a general technique is proposed for solving a system of fourth-order boundary value problems. The solution is given in the form of series and its approximate solution is obtained by truncating the series. Advantages of the method are that the representation of exact solution is obtained in a new reproducing kernel Hilbert space and accuracy of numerical computation is higher. Numerical results show that the method employed in the paper is valid. Numerical evidence is presented to show the applicability and superiority of the new method.
In this study, we propose a new Fire Flame Region Extraction using Block Homogeneity Segmentation method of the Fire Image with irregular texture and various colors. It is generally assumed that fire flame extraction plays a very important role. The Color Image with fire flame is divided into blocks and edge strength for each block is computed by using modified color histogram intersection method that has been developed to differentiate object boundaries from irregular texture boundaries effectively. The block homogeneity is designed to have the higher value in the center of region with the homeogenous colors or texture while to have lower value near region boundaries. The image represented by the block homogeneity is gray scale image and watershed transformation technique is used to generate closed boundary for each region. As the watershed transform generally results in over-segmentation, region merging based on common boundary strength is followed. The proposed method can be applied quickly and effectively to the initial response of fire.
A numerical method has been proposed to predict 3-dimensional flow in a duct system with multiple outlets. For the duct system, it is supposed that the pressure values are given at multiple outlets while the velocity profile is given at a inlet. To maintain the continuity of pressure distribution between main and branch duct, present method allows that the pressure value taken from analysis of branch duct can be converted to the main duct analysis. The result from present method which can handle the pressure boundary condition closely coincided with that from regular method which can handle the velocity boundary condition only. Furthermore the flow distribution from present method showed good agreement with that from the single block method. From the comparison of the present method with the total pressure method used for engineering duct design, 13% of discrepancy in pressure loss was shown between the main duct inlet and the branch duct outlet.

Image segmentation is a very crucial step in effective digital image processing. In the past decade, several research contributions were given related to this field. However, a general segmentation algorithm suitable for various applications is still challenging. Among several image segmentation approaches, graph-based approach has gained popularity due to its basic ability which reflects global image properties. This paper proposes a methodology to partition the image with its pixel, region and texture along with its intensity. To make segmentation faster in large images, it is processed in parallel among several CPUs. A way to achieve this is to split images into tiles that are independently processed. However, regions overlapping the tile border are split or lost when the minimum size requirements of the segmentation algorithm are not met. Here the contributions are made to segment the image on the basis of its pixel using min-cut/max-flow algorithm along with edge-based segmentation of the image. To segment on the basis of the region using a homogenous optimum cut algorithm with boundary segmentation. On the basis of texture, the object type using spectral partitioning technique is identified which also minimizes the graph cut value.
This paper deals with blow-up phenomena for an initial boundary value problem of a quasilinear parabolic equation with time-dependent coefficient in a bounded star-shaped region under nonlinear boundary flux. Using the auxiliary function method and differential inequality technique, we establish some conditions on time-dependent coefficient and nonlinear functions for which the solution u(x, t) exists globally or blows up at some finite time $t^*$. Moreover, some upper and lower bounds for $t^*$ are derived in higher dimensional spaces. Some examples are presented to illustrate applications of our results.
