  • Understanding market convergence has became essential for small and mid-size enterprises. Identifying convergence items among heterogeneous markets could lead to product innovation and successful market introduction. Previous researches have two limitations. First, traditional researches focusing on patent databases are suitable for detecting technology convergence, however, they have failed to recognize market demands. Second, most researches concentrate on identifying the relationship between existing products or technology. This study presents a platform to identify the opportunity of market convergence by using product databases from a global B2B marketplace. We also attempt to identify convergence opportunity in different industries by applying Structural Hole theory. This paper shows the mechanisms for market convergence: attributes extraction of products and services using text mining and association analysis among attributes, and network analysis based on structural hole. In order to discover market demand, we analyzed 240,002 e-catalog from January 2013 to July 2016.

  • Many buying and selling companies have participated in B2B electronic commerce in order to boost sales and cut down purchase prices respectively. There are some studies on buying and selling companies performances of using B2B e-marketplaces which provide electronic B2B transaction services such as finding transaction partners, providing on-line transaction process like auctioneering, etc. This study investigates the critical failure factors against B2B e-marketplace in other words B2B market-maker or B2B intermediary. We proposed 4 hypotheses asserting that 4 critical failure factors make reverse effects on B2B intermediary performances. We adopt the Balanced Score Card (BSC) framework to evaluate B2B intermediary performance. Data were collected from 46 respondents of B2B intermediaries in Korea. Analyses showed that traditional off-line B2B practices like refunding to buyer or transactions without legal documents and low quality of product information and catalog are critical failure factors against B2B intermediary performance.

  • As the Internet has been spread widely and rapidly in Korea since mid 1990s, the growth of electronic commerce was expected to be so at first. It was generally believed that the Internet and electronic commerce would increase the market efficiency and decrease the asymmetry of information. Electronic commerce seemed to replace the traditional market by lowering price and creating consumer-driven market, The actual situation of market, however, is not. The fact-finding research tells the different result that the amount of B2C electronic commerce in Korea is very small contrary to expectations. This study is for the analysis of low growth of B2C electronic commerce in Korea, and to find solutions.

  • Among EC areas. the B2B EC market is being spotlighted as an important interesting research area considering its size and the potential impact on companeies and the whole society. In comparison with private consumers in B2C EC. business buyers in B2B EC have to precisely keep track of the purchase records. and integrate them with the buyer's e-procurement system, which might have been implemented as a part of integrated ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems. There are three approaches for such integration between ERP and e-marketplace in B2B EC; Two previous approaches are Inside-Out approach and Outside-In approach. And a newly, one is b-cart approach. In this paper, we try to survey these three approaches and make a comparison analysis. From this research. we identify that the b-cart approach is the most efficient framework in integrating ERP with e-marketplace in B2B EC.

  • The aim of this paper is to identify the barriers to the B2B e-commerce development in China's pharmaceutical industry and to devise an effective strategy for its future development. Built on a detailed investigation of the market structure and recent development of electronic commerce in China's pharmaceutical industry, this paper proposes that the key issue in the development of effective B2B e-commerce business models is the successful transformation of the inter- organizational information systems into electronic marketplaces. In order to ensure the success of such electronic marketplaces, a government driven approach will be needed. In the process, designing an incentive compatible mechanism of coordinating the interest of all the market players will be the prerequisite.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically Investigate the critical success factors affecting the participation of B2B e-marketplace from a perspective of buyers and sellers. The research model presented in this study suggests that the success of B2B e-marketplace depends on the degree of participation of buyers and sellers. It is hypothesized that the participation of buyers and sellers is related with several contextual factors. The contextual factors included: (a) industry and market factor; (b) Internal environment factor; (c) product factor; (d) Inter-organizational factor; and (e) B2B e-marketplace system and strategy factor. An analysis of data from 31 buyer firms and 31 seller firms reveals that those five factors have a significant effect on the participation and success of B2B e-marketplace. The implications of the study are discussed and further research directions are proposed.

  • Marketing activities play an important role in determining sales performances for B2B companies; however, prior research implies that the effect of marketing activities in the industrial market cannot be inferred from findings in the consumer market due to their differences such as types of customers or products. We further note that B2C companies (i.e. B2B client companies) serve individual consumers, and thus, B2B sales performance can be better understood as consumer market contexts are also taken into account. In this research, we study B2B marketing activities and B2C market contexts, and their effects on B2B sales performance. To this end, we focus on three factors : sales calls conducted by B2B companies, and market commercialization and social interactions in regions where B2C companies operate. Our empirical analyses provide the following results. First, B2B sales performance improves in proportion to sales calls. When sales calls serve as the means to provide product information, they help client companies understand product benefits and make purchases accordingly. Second, B2B sales performance increases as B2C markets become more commercialized, but the effect of sales calls on B2B sales declines. Commercialized markets are more attractive to individual consumers and thus, lead to greater sales in the consumer market. However, the role of sales calls as information sources weakens as B2C companies share product information themselves and develop expertise in commercialized markets. Finally, B2B sales are greater in urban markets compared to suburbs. However, the effect of sales calls on B2B sales increases in suburban markets compared to the urban counterpart. Cohesive social interactions in suburbs hinder information diffusion among B2C companies, which in turn strengthens the role of sales calls as information sources. We theoretically contribute to the B2B marketing literature and managerially suggest strategies to improve B2B sales performance.

  • As $40%{\sim}60%$ of the construction project expense is used for the purchase and procurement of construction materials, construction companies are attracted by the promise of online procurement of construction materials through the B2B e-Marketplace. B2B e-Marketplace can save construction companies time and money spent through the off-line procurement. Construction B2B e-Marketplaces can energize the construction market dominated by major construction companies. It will expand the business scope of small and medium construction material suppliers and construction companies. Current B2B e-Marketplaces underperform in all industries due to low participation. Excluding some construction B2B e-Marketplaces led by major construction companies, most construction B2B e-Marketplaces show poor performance in terms of revenue and transaction. Researches are needed in the area of discovering the problems of current construction B2B e-Marketplace and identifying the factors for participating in the construction B2B e-Marketplace. This research conducts a case study to analyze the current status of construction B2B e-Marketplace.
