This study analyzed the academic achievements on above-level testing of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and English in newly entering students of science specialized high schools. It can be expected that newly students of science high specialized schools have reached ceiling level in the middle school mathematics and science academic scores. Above-level testing(or off-level testing) is a test tool used to evaluate student's ability which are above-grade level. In this study, above-level testing tools were used to develop the same type examination paper of the 2013 Korean College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and English. The conclusions of this study were as follow: First, the academic achievement level of science specialized high school freshmen were higher the average level of general high school senior because that over 50% of them are within the 5 grade of CSAT in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. In English, 19.3% science specialized high school freshmen have reached within the 5 grade of CSAT. Second, as a result of examining characteristics of academic achievement with respect to units of subjects, in mathematics, it was showed that the academic achievement of 'continuity and limit of a function' unit was higher, 'statistics' unit was lower. In physics, the academic achievement of 'Electricity and Magnetism' unit was higher, 'Waves and particles' unit was lower. In chemistry, the academic achievement of 'compounds in life' unit was higher, 'Air' unit was lower. In English, the academic achievement of 'practical sentence' of reading area was higher, 'Sentence' of writing area was lower. In conclusion, above-level testing provided a good strategy for identifying and determining appropriate programming interventions for gifted students who are two or more grade levels above their age-mates in achievements, aptitude, or ability.
This study was carried out to examine the converging factors related to academic burnout in students from health-related majors who are involved in studying for the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). Research subjects included 291 randomly selected students from the J-region, who were enrolled in TOEIC classes. Data collection took place from April 3, 2017 to April 14, 2017, using anonymous self-administered questionnaires. The results of a multiple regression analysis in female students showed higher academic burnout pertaining to studying for the TOEIC when sleeping hours, self-worth, self-efficacy, school adaptation resilience, and study immersion were low, and job-seeking stress and test anxiety were high. The explanatory power of this model was 65%. Based on these results, to reduce academic burnout pertaining to studying for the TOEIC in health majors, it is first necessary to increase sleeping hours, self-worth, self-efficacy, school adaptation resilience, and study immersion, and to make efforts to manage self-competence, job-seeking stress, and test anxiety. The results of this study may be used to decrease the academic burnout caused by studying for the TOEIC in health major students and to increase their aptitude for studying English, to cultivate globalized capabilities. Future studies need to conduct an effect analysis on the control and mediation effect that these factors have on academic burnout.
The purpose of the study was to find out the usefulness of teachers' recommendation in selecting gifted students. For the study 87 teachers teaching 4th grade students from 20 elementary schools in the area of Incheon, 103 gifted students who were recommended by teacher, and 65 gifted students who were not recommended by teacher participated. To measure their cognitive ability, Raven intelligence test, creative problem solving test in science, and TTCT were used. In addition, learning methods, motives for achievement, faith in academic ability, problem solving tendency, and assignment preferences were assessed to find out their affective qualities. The results were as follows. First, the students who were recommended by teachers were highly advanced in both cognitive and affective aspects related to giftedness compared to non recommended students. Second, there were no significant differences both in the cognitive and affective aspects among the students recommended by teachers whether they passed the second step(test for giftedness) and the third step(test for academic aptitude) or not. Third, the discriminant analysis showed $70{\sim}80$ percent accuracy on teacher recommendation in identifying gifted students. The implication of the study related to teacher recommendation and future direction on identification of gifted students were discussed in depth.
This research is a fundamental research to provide the foundation that psychological test can be utilized efficiently. It investigated and studied the reality of the psychological test used in elementary school, teacher's degrees of understanding and utilization of psychological test, requirements for improving the psychological test that is performed currently, and the direction of the testing tools that are required by elementary school. First, the main purpose of psychological test was different. The tests that were usually utilized in elementary schools were career inventory test and aptitude test, followed by personality test, learning test, creativity test and intelligence test in order. Second, it showed that teachers read the testing manual before carrying out the psychological test and understood it individually, the degree of understanding of T score showed to be the lowest. As a factor that hampered elementary school teacher's understanding of the psychological test, there was insufficiency of the teacher's professional knowledge, and it showed that the preparatory training for teachers about the tools of psychological test was necessary in order to improve this. Teacher's degree of utilization of psychological test showed to be lower than that of understanding. As a factor that influenced this kind of utilization by teachers, the lack of methodical understanding in afterwards guidance after the testing was the biggest factor. To increase the teacher's degree of utilization of psychological test, it was investigated that advice for more specific methods of guidance after the testing was necessary. Third, cross analysis was executed to find out if there was difference in the degree of understanding and utilization of psychological test according to whether a teacher completed the education course regarding counseling or not, and as a result, there was difference in the degree of understanding regarding some tests, but there was no difference found in the degree of utilization. Besides these, the point to be complemented in psychological test that was currently executed elementary schools and the direction of the testing tools that elementary schools require were investigated.
This study aims to examine the transition of the youth to the labor market by types of education and training institutes focusing employment rate. To construct the dataset for the analysis, the list of the graduates from 4-year universities, junior colleges, polytechnic colleges and the graduates from vocational training institutes as of February 2001 has been merged with the database for the insured in the Unemployment Insurance Database. This data enables tracking down of these graduates in terms of their mobility in the labor market. For graduates from universities and junior colleges, their scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test have been matched. One of major findings is that the longer the schooling period is, the better the employment results are. Among those who finished 4-year universities, those who went to schools in the metropolitan area achieve a relatively better record in job finding than those who attended schools in the local areas. Meanwhile it is confirmed that the SAT score is highly co-related with the performance in the labor market among those who finished 4-year universities. The co-relation of one's major with his/her employment is not negligible also.
This study examines the job changes of the youth university graduates in Korea. The pattern of job changes get observed in the Unemployment Insurance Database. This data enables us tracing all job changes in the labor market. The average number of job youth graduates have for four years from graduate is 1.68. The more jobs youth have, the longer total tenure youth have. Youth are much more likely to change careers to different occupation or industry. They move usually into upper occupations but small establishments. They enhance the level of wage through job changes. The science and engineering graduates are more likely to change jobs than the humanity and social science graduates. The higher the level of wage they get is, the lower the probability of their job change is. Those who have good scores in Scholastic Aptitude Test are less likely to change job.
This study attempted to analyze and confirm the correlation between self-concept and the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice. The subjects of the survey were 194 junior and senior students selected from S universities by questionaire from Nov. 1 to Nov. 30, 1983 in Seoul. The collected data was analyzed by t-test, AN-OVA, Pearson correlation according to purpose of study. The results were as follows: 1. Self-concept by religion was significant (F = 4.51, df=4/185, p= .002). 2. In the motives of selecting the nursing, most of students chose the nursing depending on their altruism(62.9%), ability and aptitude(57.7%) and better opportunity of studying abroad and Setting a job(49.5%) respectively. 3. The degree of clinical practice satisfaction was low as 2.80 of a total score 4.0. The degree of satisfaction of contents(3.33) revealed to be high. Compared with the degree of satisfaction on instruction(2.77), practice hours(2.83), practice environment (3.65), and clinical evaluation(2.60) revealed to be low. Religion and choice order of the admission were not significant in satisfaction of clinical practice(t=.37, p=.715). The main hypothesis that“The more positive self concept will be, the higher the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice will be”was not supported (r= .0509, p=.240). The first sub-hypothesis that“The more positive the cognitive self-concept will be, the higher the degree of satisfaction will be”was partially supported. Because favorite-isolated self-concept was significantly correlated with the satisfaction (r=.1189, P=.005). The second sub·hypothesis that“The more positive the evaluational self-concept will be, the higher the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice will be”was not supported. As a above results, self-concept was not influenced to the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice, therefore it is required that environment, instruction method and evaluation for clinical practice should be refined and improved by clinical administrators and nursing faculties for nor-sing student's satisfaction on clinical practice.
In order to prevent occupational injury in forestry operations, several laws and regulations related to forestry have been enacted. Forestry education and training is overseen by the Forest Training Institute under the Korea Forest Service and three training centers under the National Forestry Cooperative Federation. The latter are managing both common and specialized courses, with safety education and training as an important focus. Improvements to reduce the accident rate are as follows: (1) strengthening of qualifications (via aptitude test) and selection standards of forestry workers (such as age limits); (2) raise of the number of training days and the rate of certified essential forces that compose Units of Forest Craft Workers; (3) revision of regulations to select forestry management engineers (second grade certified engineer); (4) introduction of a qualification renewal system; (5) improvement of working conditions at forestry scenes and systemization of safety education; (6) revision of regulations of individual protection equipment; (7) enforcement of wearing individual protection equipment; (8) supplementation of disaster response for increasing safety perception.

The purpose of this study is to improve expertise and substantiality of teachers by analyzing the level of satisfaction and the needs assessment of e-learning instructional contents on vocational subject at vocational high school. For the above purpose, we carried out a questiones to the 126 teachers and the 646 students in the second and the third grade of vocational high school. As a result, even though teachers knew the e-learning contents, they does not actively use the e-learning contents in class. They feels in need of contents which are able to be reconstructed. Students also prefer the contents focused on problem-solving to prepare for the national academic aptitude test and indirect experiences through simulation ways.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among the variables, personality type, stress, and job satisfaction in firefighters. Methods: The questionnaire research was conducted for field service firefighters who work in two cities for the period of June 20, 2005 through July 20, 2005. A total number of 308 data were used for this analysis. For analysis of the data, the SPSSWIN 10.0 program was used to analyze descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, t-test and one-way ANOVA. Results: The mean score of subjects' stress was 3.30 and the mean score of job satisfaction was 2.86. There were significant differences on stress and job satisfaction by general characteristics. Stress was significantly differed by field of working. Job satisfaction was significantly differed by marital status and field of working. Also, there were significant differences on stress and job satisfaction by characteristics related to working. Stress was significantly differed by sleeping time at night shift, witness their superior's or companion's death or injury, and a threat to death or injury. Job satisfaction was significantly differed by an aptitude for field of working and wish to change the field of working. But there was no significant differences on stress and job satisfaction by personality type. There was statistically significant negative correlation between stress and job satisfaction. Conclusion: Strategies that can decrease their stress need to be developed to increase job satisfaction.
