It is well known that serial belief propagation (BP) decoding for low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes achieves faster convergence without any increase of decoding complexity per iteration and bit error rate (BER) performance loss than standard parallel BP (PBP) decoding. Serial BP (SBP) decoding, such as horizontal SBP (H-SBP) decoding or vertical SBP (V-SBP) decoding, updates check nodes or variable nodes faster than standard PBP decoding within a single iteration. In this paper, we propose combined horizontal-vertical SBP (CHV-SBP) decoding. By the same reasoning, CHV-SBP decoding updates check nodes or variable nodes faster than SBP decoding within a serialized step in an iteration. CHV-SBP decoding achieves faster convergence than H-SBP or V-SBP decoding. We compare these decoding schemes in details. We also show in simulations that the convergence rate, in iterations, for CHV-SBP decoding is about $\frac{1}{6}$ of that for standard PBP decoding, while the convergence rate for SBP decoding is about $\frac{1}{2}$ of that for standard PBP decoding. In simulations, we use recently proposed generalized LDPC (GLDPC) codes with binary cyclic codes (BCC).
The purpose of this research is to obtain and analyze dynamic responses from human volunteers for the development of the human-like mechanical or mathematical model for Korean males in automotive rear collisions. This paper focused on the introduction to a low-speed rear impact sled test involving Korean male subjects, and the accumulation of the motion of head and neck. A total of 50 dynamic rear impact sled tests were performed with 50 human volunteers, who are 30-50 year-old males. Each subject can be involved in only one case to prevent any injury in which he was exposed to the impulse that was equivalent to a low-speed rear-end collision of cars at 5-8 km/h for change of velocity, so called, ${\Delta}V$. All subjects were examined by an orthopedist to qualify for the test through the medical check-up of their necks and low backs prior to the test. The impact device is the pendulum type, tuned to simulate the crash pulse of a real vehicle. All motions and impulses were captured and measured by motion capture systems and pressure sensors on the seat. Dynamic responses of head and T1 were analyzed in two cases(5 km/h, 8 km/h) to compare with the results in the previous studies. After the experiments, human subjects were examined to check up any change in the post medical analysis. As a result, there was no change in MRI and no injury reported. Six subjects experienced a minor stiffness on their back for no more than 2 days and got back to normal without any medical treatment.

This paper proposes a modified min-max algorithm (MMMA) for nonbinary quasi-cyclic low-density parity-check (NB-QC-LDPC) codes and an efficient parallel block-layered decoder architecture corresponding to the algorithm on a graphics processing unit (GPU) platform. The algorithm removes multiplications over the Galois field (GF) in the merger step to reduce decoding latency without any performance loss. The decoding implementation on a GPU for NB-QC-LDPC codes achieves improvements in both flexibility and scalability. To perform the decoding on the GPU, data and memory structures suitable for parallel computing are designed. The implementation results for NB-QC-LDPC codes over GF(32) and GF(64) demonstrate that the parallel block-layered decoding on a GPU accelerates the decoding process to provide a faster decoding runtime, and obtains a higher coding gain under a low $10^{-10}$ bit error rate and low $10^{-7}$ frame error rate, compared to existing methods.
This paper presents the on-vehicle information system that displays the states of the vehicle in brief words instead of symbols. Main functions of this system include a system check function, trip function, warning function, and clock function. With this system, a driver can obtain all sorts of useful information related to various conditions of the vehicle, and if any problem arises in the vehicle, he can recognize it by the displayed words with a warning sound. Also, this system is very helpful for safety driving because it displays whatever a driver wants to have concerning trip information. By experimental test and driving test, the development system shows good results for each function.

Video files of video devices such as black box and CCTV may be damaged due to repetitive file read / write and physical environment factors. Even though there are available parts of video information, it may happen that playback can't be performed due to damage of some information. To playback the remaining video information normally, it is necessary to recover damaged areas of the files. For this, it is necessary to accurately check the damage range of the files. In this paper, we propose the design and implementation of a tool which detects damaged areas of a video file and recovers the usable area of the file to playback. The proposed tool can analyze and recover without additional information by analyzing common information of video container format and can check detailed damaged ranges with chunks. It is possible to perform recovery just only with the target file and reference file without any other information such as codec specification.
To evaluate the periodontal status of Korean adults, 3,988 adults(20-69 years old) who lived in Kwangju, Chonnam, Taegu, and Kyungbuk districts were periodontally examined by plaque index(PI), calculus index(CI), gingival index(GI), periodontal disease index (PDI), and papillary bleeding index(PBI). The periodontal examination charts were grouped according to age and sex. And subsequently 200 periodontal examination charts in each age group were randomly selected according to sex. The differences of the indices among age groups and those between male and female in each age group were statistically analyzed by Chi-Square test. In PI, CI, GI, PDI, and PBI, there was no statistical significance in the difference between male and female in each age group(p>0.05). In male, PI of 60s age group($1.44{\pm}0.68$) was significantly higher than that of any age group(p<0.05), and in female PI of 20s age group($0.86{\pm}0.39$) was significantly lower than that of any other age group(p<0.05). CI of 60s age group in both male($1.67{\pm}0.70$) and female($1.63{\pm}0.91$) was significantly higher than that of any age group(p<0.05). GI of 20s age group in both male($0.85{\pm}0.66$) and female($0.67{\pm}0.60$) was significantly lower and GI of 60s age group in both male($1.37{\pm}0.60$) and female($1.44{\pm}0.84$) was higher than that of any age group(p<0.05). PDI in male was the lowest in 20s age group($0.70{\pm}0.73$), and was the highest in 60s age group($4.93{\pm}1.96$) (p<0.05). In female PDI of 20s age group($0.71{\pm}0.74$) was significantly lower than that of any age group(p<0.05). In male PBI of 20s age group($0.38{\pm}0.31$) was significantly lower than that of any age group(p<0.001). PBI in female was the lowest in 20s age group($0.35{\pm}0.30$) (p<0.001), and was the highest in 60s age group($1.09{\pm}0.76$) (p<0.05). The data insist that all the young populations of 20s age group should be interested in routine check for early diagnosis and prevention of periodontal disease, and a special education program of periodontal health care for young generation must be prepared, and the periodic recall check system for periodontal examination of middle age group must be supported by government.

The diagnosis of abnormalities in a nuclear power plant is essential to maintain power plant safety. When an abnormal event occurs, the operator diagnoses the event and selects the appropriate abnormal operating procedures and sub-procedures to implement the necessary measures. To support this, abnormality diagnosis systems using data-driven methods such as artificial neural networks and convolutional neural networks have been developed. However, data-driven models cannot always guarantee an accurate diagnosis because they cannot simulate all possible abnormal events. Therefore, abnormality diagnosis systems should be able to detect their own potential misdiagnosis. This paper proposes a rulebased diagnostic validation algorithm using a previously developed two-stage diagnosis model in abnormal situations. We analyzed the diagnostic results of the sub-procedure stage when the first diagnostic results were inaccurate and derived a rule to filter the inconsistent sub-procedure diagnostic results, which may be inaccurate diagnoses. In a case study, two abnormality diagnosis models were built using gated recurrent units and long short-term memory cells, and consistency checks on the diagnostic results from both models were performed to detect any inconsistencies. Based on this, a re-diagnosis was performed to select the label of the second-best value in the first diagnosis, after which the diagnosis accuracy increased. That is, the model proposed in this study made it possible to detect diagnostic failures by the developed consistency check of the sub-procedure diagnostic results. The consistency check process has the advantage that the operator can review the results and increase the diagnosis success rate by performing additional re-diagnoses. The developed model is expected to have increased applicability as an operator support system in terms of selecting the appropriate AOPs and sub-procedures with re-diagnosis, thereby further increasing abnormal event diagnostic accuracy.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate biological effects of Euiiin-tang(Y$\grave{i}$y$\check{i}$r$\acute{e}$n-t$\bar{a}$ng) extracts by extraction methods. Methods: To investigate the effects of anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activity, we measured DPPH radical scavenging assay, collagenase inhibition assay and COX-2 inhibition assay. Results: In case of measuring anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activities of Euiiin-tang(Y$\grave{i}$y$\check{i}$r$\acute{e}$n-t$\bar{a}$ng) by collagenase and COX-2 inhibition activity, it came out that Euiiin-tang(Y$\grave{i}$y$\check{i}$r$\acute{e}$n-t$\bar{a}$ng) was unable to inhibit collagenase, but was effective to inhibit COX-2. Cytotoxicity analysis of Euiiin-tang(Y$\grave{i}$y$\check{i}$r$\acute{e}$n-t$\bar{a}$ng) extracts by MTT assay principles, there was no cytotoxicity in aqueous and 50% ethanol extracts in any level of concentration. Conclusions: This results suggest that Euiiin-tang(Y$\grave{i}$y$\check{i}$r$\acute{e}$n-t$\bar{a}$ng) extracts have anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activities.
