Three villages were selected as study areas and more than two types of amenity utilization were settled for planning direction for each village to have specialized and unique plan. Through Rural Amenity Design Competition which is being held annually, we will be able to get more data throughout rural area and verify trend of rural village planning. By selecting theme of the competition reflects needs of the time, more detailed and original ideas on amenity village planning can be drawn and this will contribute to proper and stable village planning.

  • The objectives of this study was to explore the concept, the origin and history, and classification of amenity. Amenity is a new approach about nature, environment and the world. The concept, origin and classification of amenity was widely diversified, however, the concept of amenity was inclusive and abstract, so amenity was easier to recognize than to define. Even though many people were interested in amenity, however, the movement or practice of amenity in Korea was still in infancy stage. This paper was an exploratory study of amenity and more detailed further studies on amenity should conducted in Korea. It was suggested that we should not start on philosophical question of amenity. We should rather start on practical problems of how to put into practice to insure quality of life in the community, to conserve nature, to study practical dimensions of amenity, and to develop indicators to measure amenity.

The result of survey showed that most of respondents had been aware of amenity resources and the industry group had the highest level of utilization in making decisions for rural development. Although the significant difference among groups was not shown in the priority, the priority in the construction of information map was shown the significant difference among 10 kinds of amenity resources. Landscape's map and traditional resource map were relatively higher priority than the other resource map.

  • According to the growing concerns of the public with efficiency and effects of regional policies, their assessment works have become an important issue. Up to now, several studies have been carried out on economic effects of policies using conventional cost/benefit analysis, while there have been few studies on assessment of amenity oriented policies. From the above consideration, this study tried to develop An Annual Expenditure Assessment Model (AEAM) for amenity-oriented policy-making in rural area. As a pre-work for model development, the hierarchical indices system for rural development and the classification system of expenditure were designed. Being based on high significant relationship between rural amenities and local government expenditure, a linear optimization model for maximization of regional amenity was constructed. Through a case study of Sunchang-gun, Chonbuk-province, the model applicability was ascertained.
