Simulation System for Earthmoving Operation with Traffic Flow

  • The object of this research is to develop a simulation system for earthmoving operations in consideration of the impact of congestion in-between equipment and existing traffic flow around the site. The congestion in-between equipment and traffic flow affect work productivity. The conventional discrete event simulation, however, has limitations in simulating the flow of construction equipment. To consider the impact of congestion in-between equipment and existing traffic flow, in this paper, a multi-agent based simulation model that can realize characteristics of truck behavior more accurately to consider the impact of congestion was proposed. In this simulation model, multiple agents can identify environmental changes and adapt themselves to the new environment. This modeling approach is a better choice for this problem since it describes behavioral characteristics of each agent by sensing changes in dynamic surroundings. This study suggests a detailed system design of the multi-agent based simulation system.

에이전트 기반 모델링 및 시뮬레이션을 이용한 무기체계 가용도 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Weapon System Availability Using Agent Based Modeling and simulation)

  • Availability is one of the important factor for developing weapon system, because it indicates the mission capability and sustainable life cycle management of weapon system. Recently, as weapon system becomes more advanced and more complex, availability estimation becomes more important to reduce the life cycle cost of weapon system. Modeling and simulation(M&S) is useful method to describe the availability of complex weapon system applying operational environment and maintenance plan. Especially agent based model(ABM) has the strength to describe interactions between agents and environments in complex system. Therefore, this paper presents the availability estimation of weapon system using agent based model. The sample data of part list and reliability analysis is applied to build availability estimation model. User agent and mechanic agent are developed to illustrate the behavior of operation and maintenance using formal specification. Storage reliability is applied to describe failure of each parts. The experimental result shows that this model is quite useful to estimate availability of weapon system. This model may estimate more reasonable availability, if full scale data of weapon system and real field data of operation is provided.

Developing an Evacuation Evaluation Model for Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms Using BIM and Agent-based Model

  • Accidents on offshore oil and gas platforms (OOGPs) usually cause serious fatalities and financial losses considering demanding environment platforms locate and complex topsides structure platforms own. Evacuation planning on platforms is usually challenging. The computational tool is a good choice to plan evacuation by emergency simulation. However, the complex structure of platforms and varied evacuation behaviors usually weaken the advantages of computational simulation. Therefore, this study developed a simulation model for OOGPs to evaluate different evacuation plans to improve evacuation performance by integrating building information modeling (BIM) and agent-based model (ABM). The developed model consists of four parts: evacuation model input, simulation environment modeling, agent definition, and simulation and comparison. Necessary platform information is extracted from BIM and then used to model simulation environment by integrating matrix model and network model. During agent definition, in addition to basic characteristics, environment sensing and dynamic escape path planning functions are also developed to improve simulation performance. An example OOGP BIM topsides with different emergent scenarios is used to illustrate the developed model. The results showed that the developed model can well simulate evacuation on OOGPs and improve evacuation performance. The developed model was also suggested to be applied to other industries such as the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

구조적 공백 기반 주문 분배 전략의 에이전트 기반 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 (Agent Based Modeling and Simulation of Structural Hole Based Order Allocation Strategy)

  • Order allocation is one of the most important decision-making problems of firms having significant influences on performances of themselves and the whole supply chain. Existing researches about order allocation have mainly focused on evaluating capabilities of directly connected suppliers so that it is hard to consider effects and interactions from undirected connections over multiple lower-layers. To alleviate the limitation, this paper proposed a novel approach to order allocation using structural hole. By applying the concept of structural hole to the supply network, we could evaluate the structural supplying powers of firms with respect to both of direct and indirect connections. In the proposed approach, we derived a methodology to measure the potential supplying power of each firm by modifying the effective size as one of the measurements of structural hole and then, proposed its application, the structural hole based order allocation strategy. Furthermore, we conducted the agent based modeling of supply chain to perform the decision-making process of order allocation and simulated the proposed strategy. As a results, by coping with the variance of demand more stably, it could improve the performance of supply chain from the aspects of fill rate, inventory level and demand-supply balance.

  • The goal of our research is to develop a formal modeling methodology for supervisory and controlling systems that have artificially intelligent features. This approach is agent-based and central to the development of the model of mobility agent considering reactivity for real-time purpose and deliberation for optimal realization and safe-fail problems for critical systems like Intelligent Transportation Systems by high-level Petri net. By using nets within nets we investigate the concurrency of the system and the agent in one model without losing the needed abstraction, and synchronous channels are introduced to denote the coordination and communication. Finally an example is demonstrated.

에이전트 기반 모델링을 활용한 IT 융합 u-러닝 콘텐츠 (IT Convergence u-Learning Contents using Agent Based Modeling)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 통합교육의 이론적 배경을 토대로, 유비쿼터스 학습 환경에 적용이 가능한 에이전트 기반 모델링 활용 융합 교육 콘텐츠를 개발하고 적용하는 것이다. 이 콘텐츠의 구조는 탈학문적 통합 개념과 상황학습 이론을 토대로 설계하였으며, 3개의 모듈로 구성되어 있다. 3개의 모듈은 융합 문제 제시 모듈, 지식 리소스 모듈, 그리고 에이전트 기반 모델링과 IT 도구에 대한 학습 모듈이다. 구현한 콘텐츠의 만족도를 묻는 설문을 실시한 결과 5점 만점에 4.05(효과성), 4.13(편의성), 3.86(디자인)의 평균 값을 받았으며 각 평가 영역에 대하여 사용자들이 대체적으로 만족하고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 콘텐츠를 사용하여 학습자는 디바이스, 시간, 공간의 제한이 없이 IT 도구를 활용하여 융합 문제를 해결하는 과정에 대한 학습과 경험을 할 수 있으며, 이러한 구조의 콘텐츠 설계는 향후 융합형 교육 콘텐츠를 개발하려는 연구자에게 좋은 가이드라인이 될 것으로 판단한다.

  • MANPro-based control is a novel control paradigm aimed at intelligent manufacturing systems on the basis of mobile agent-based negotiation process (MANPro). MANPro is a negotiation mechanism based on the agent-based control architecture and, especially, it adapts a mobile agent system called N-agent for the negotiation process. N-agent travels around the network of distributed manufacturing systems to acquire information, and it makes a decision for system control according to the obtained information. MANPro includes communication architecture and information architecture for intelligent shop floor control. MANPro also considers the following issues: (1) negotiation mechanism, (2) single-agent internal strategic policies, and (3) information model. Communication architecture concerns the first issue of the negotiation mechanism. It provides information exchanging mechanism with functional modules. In specific, N-agent is equipped with an intelligent reasoning engine with a built-in knowledge base. This reasoning engine is closely related to the single-agent internal strategic policies of the second issue. Finally, ontology-based information architecture addresses information models and provides a framework for information modeling on negotiation. In this paper, these three issues are addressed in detail and a framework of MANPro-based control is also proposed.

탐색 및 활용을 통한 컴퓨터 매개 커뮤니케이션의 팀 창의성에 관한 연구 : 에이전트 모델링 기법을 중심으로 (Agent-Based Modeling Simulation Approach to Analyzing the Impact of Computer-Mediated Communication on Team Creativity Through Exploration and Exploitation)

  • Among various types of creativity, team creativity has been always receiving attention from both practitioners and researchers because most of works are done in a team format in organizations. Therefore, it would be the best way for corporate performance to increase when team creativity is managed carefully to increase in a steadfast way. Though there are lots of ways to grow team creativity, this study explores the issue of increasing the team creativity by adopting CMC (computer-mediated communication) and exploration and exploitation, which were studied separately, but never analyzed together in the same research framework. Experiments to prove the validity of the research questions are based on ABM (Agent-Based Modeling) simulation. Netlogo language was adopted to build a prototype engine for the simulation engine. Experiment results revealed that in the short-term, both broad CMC mode with high exploration and exploitation, and local CMC mode with high exploration and exploitation result in higher team creativity than other types of combination. However, in the long run, broad CMC mode yields higher team creativity level than local CMC mode.

에이전트 기반 모의를 이용한 방위충분성 기동전단 전력판단 연구 (A Study on War Potential Judgement of Defense Sufficiency Task Group Using Agent-Based Modeling and Simulation)

  • 본 연구는 에이전트 기반 모의(ABMS:Agent Based Modeling and Simulation)을 이용하여 미래 주변국과의 불확실한 분쟁상황을 모의하고, 상황의 이해(Understandering)와 결과를 예측하여 주변국에 대한 방위충분성(Defense Sufficiency)이 고려된 기동전단의 전력수준을 판단하고 발전방향을 제시하는데 있다. 모의에 앞서 기존문헌과 관련자료, 연구사례를 통하여 ABMS의 이해를 증진하였으며, 방위충분성의 개념을 통하여 연구의 당위성을 제고하였고, 한국과 주변국의 해군력 현황을 살펴 보았다. 그리고 한국 기동전대와 주변국 전력의 분쟁상황을 ABS 모델 MANA(Map Aware Non-uniform Automata)로 모의하였다. 연구결과로 방위충분성 기동전단의 전력수준은 최소한 광개토-III급 4척과 충무공이순신급 $16p{\sim}20$척으로 구성된 $20{\sim}24$척으로 되어야 한다. 한국해군의 발전방향은 현재의 전력증강 계획과 더불어 광개토-III급 1척을 추가 계획하여야 하며 차기 호위함의 전력을 $10{\sim}14$척 규모로 추진해야할 것이다. 또한 차기호위함의 전투체계 능력은 충무공이순신급 이상의 수준으로 개발하여 기동전단 전력으로 활용하는 것이 타당할 것이다.

행위자 기반 모델링을 활용한 시간에 따른 침수 지역 예상 (An Agent-Based Modeling Approach for Estimating Inundation Areas over Time)

  • 전 세계는 기상재해로 인해 막대한 경제적 손실 및 인명 피해를 입고 있다. 특히 우리나라는 홍수에 따른 침수 시 인명 피해가 빈번하다. 홍수에 대한 실효성 있는 비상대처계획을 수립하기 위해서는 시간에 따른 침수 예상 지역을 산정하는 것이 중요하다. 이에 본 연구는 안동 도심지를 대상으로 행위자 기반 모델링을 활용해 침수 예상 지역 및 시간을 산정하였다. 연속방정식과 Manning 공식을 이용해 조도계수 및 유량별 전파시간을 계산하였다. 안동댐에 가능최대홍수량이 유입되면 직하류 지점에서 발생할 수 있는 시나리오를 모델링하였다. 이 결과들에 근거해 시간대별 침수 예상 지역을 도시할 수 있는 행위자 기반 모형을 개발하였다. 이 모형을 활용해 대상 지역의 약 3분의 2가 침수되기까지 3분 가까이 소요된다는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 등위도 지역이라 할지라도 침수 예상 시간의 편차가 약 2배까지 발생할 수 있다는 결과 또한 얻을 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 대피 장소 및 경로 선정에 실효성 있는 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
