Small Group Collaborative Instruction in school settings has been endorsed by many educational experts over the years. Some studies found that learners greatly benefit from one another through communication and interaction with their peers. These studies previously indicated improvement of a learner‘s academic ability as well as the application of the affective domain when using this type of instruction. Lower-level students with limited mathematical abilities improved their problem-solving and conceptual thinking skills when tasked to work with other learners. On the other hand, the effectiveness of this process was questioned to be less evident with higher-level performers. Therefore, this study was designed to observe the efficacy of Small Group Collaborative Instruction on higher-level students and to explore their learning process as they interact with and teach lower-level students. This study observed that higher-level students use high-level mathematical thinking skills when helping lower-level students, and they improved problem-solving ability as well as communication skills.
In this paper the negotiation skills, which have been so far known as non-scientific or artistic field, are analyzed on the basis of behavioral science view point. Negotiator's behavior and psychological situation are believed to influence the negotiation result significantly, therefore, those factors are reviewed with behavioral science framework. Some concepts developed in Cognitive Psychology to explain the decision making models - prominence, commitment, escalation of commitment, framing, adjustment and anchoring, endowment effect - are reconceptualized and applied to the negotiation skill analysis and negotiation skill development in this paper. As the results of this research, various negotiation skills which have been so far believed as irrational and artistic are now able to be explained on the basis of sound logic and reasoning. This means also that valuable and elegant negotiation skills should be further developed by behavioral scientists.
In National Curriculum of Science revised in 2007, 'Free Inquiry' was newly introduced to increase student's interest in science and to foster creativity by having students make their own questions and find answers by themselves. The purpose of the study was to analyze characteristics deployed in the processes of elementary school students' free inquiry activities applying a brain-based evolutionary science teaching and learning principles. For this study, 106 the fifth grade students participated, and they performed individually free inquiry activities according to a brain-based evolutionary approach. In order to characterize the diversifying, estimating-evaluating-executing, and extending-applying activities in behavioral domain, the free inquiry diary constructed by the students, observations by the researcher, and interviews with the students were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The major results of this study were as follows: First, the students preferred basic inquiry process skills and the majority of the students selected observation as a major approach of their inquiry. The reason was found to be that they were accustomed to only typical basic inquiry skills which is frequently presented at textbooks and regular instruction and didn't have appropriate experience for using relevant integrative inquiry skills. Second, most of the methods diversified and selected by the students were confined to descriptive explanation rather than causal one. Third, both of the science attitude and academic achievement were associated with the number of diversified methods and the selection of appropriate method. Based on these findings, implications for supporting domain novices in inquiry learning environments are advanced.
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing confidence in performing core basic nursing skills(CBNS) for low-grade nursing students. The data were collected from 213 nursing students from one nursing college located in G do from November 25 to December 4, 2020. Data were analyed by frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression using SPSS 21.0. Differences in confidence in performing CBNS according to general characteristics were university life satisfaction, practical satisfaction, academic achievement, and interpersonal relationship. Confidence in performing CBNS was significant positive correlation with self-efficacy, major satisfaction, and learning attitude. The factors influencing confidence in performing CBNS were self-efficacy and learning attitude, and explanatory power was 32.5%. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop learning strategies and educational programs and verify the effectiveness of lower class nursing students to increse their confidence in performing CBNS.

Constructionarium Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation which delivers a residential, experiential, immersive learning opportunity to university students from across the built environment education sector. Since 2002, the Constructionarium education model has been available to students in engineering, construction management and architecture at a purpose built, 19-acre multi-disciplinary training facility in Bircham Newton, England simulating real site life and reflecting site processes, practices and health and safety requirements. The unique approach of Constructionarium puts experiential learning and sustainability at the heart of everything. In a week, students develop a practical understanding of the construction process, develop transferable skills, build a team and are exposed to the latest in sustainable technologies. Experiential learning is what differentiates a Constructionarium project from regular field trips or site visits. At Constructionarium the focus is on learning by participation rather than learning through theory or watching a demonstration. The projects cannot be replicated in a classroom or on campus. Using the hands-on construction of scaled down versions of iconic structures from around the world, students learn that it requires the involvement of the whole construction team to successfully complete their project. Skills such as communication, planning, budgeting, time management and decision making are woven into a week-long interrelationship with industry professionals, academic mentors and trades workers. Working together to enhance transferable skills brings the educational environment into the reality of completing an actual construction project handled by the students. Constructionarium has used this transformational learning model to educate thousands of students from all over the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia. Texas A&M University in the United States has sent multiple teams of students from its Department of Construction Science every operational year since 2016.
Students with learning disability have difficulty with attention and academic achievement Music can be an effective tool to enhance level of participation. The purpose of this study is to examine how much can be structured to enhance the attention span and related academic skills needed to achieve educational goals. The study has implemented structured music therapy sessions for three middle school students with learning disability. They participated in 20 sessions which were 30 minutes in length for ten weeks. The implemented music therapy sessions were designed using songs, playing, and listening to music. In order to test their level of attention, Frankfurter Aufmerksamkeits-Inventar(FAIR) Attention Test is implemented and Conners' Comprehensive Teacher's Rating Scale(CTRS-10) are used on the week before and after music activities. Also videotaping is used so as to analyze how correctly they do their task and how the correctness is changed period by period and to evaluate how often for ten minutes they make an eye contact with their teacher. The conclusions of this study are as follows: Firstly, the organized music activities have a positive affection on improving the attention of three middle school students who have learning disabilities. Fair Attention Test shows that they can do their task with more accuracy than in the previous period. Secondly, three students of this study improved their attention and made an eye contact more often than before this study, which is revealed through the analysis of the pre and post test results evaluated by CTRS-10. The results of the study indicate that structured use of music in various level of activities can help students to enhance attention span and the related academic skills.
In this study, the effect of a sustainable energy design project on academic achievement for engineering freshmen at Virginia Tech in fall semester 2006 in the United States was examined by experimental method. The department of engineering education at Virginia Tech was opened in 2004. In this experiment the population was approximately 1200 freshmen, and 5 classes were sampled. Subject name is engineering exploration, a theme of the instruction is sustainable energy design, the project was performed throughout a 6 weeks period with one by 50 minutes lecture conducted by faculty and one 90 minutes workshop conducted by GTAs (Graduate Teaching Assistants) every week. The statistical results using SPSS (ver. 15.0) are as follows: A paired-samples t test analysis was run on the pre- and posttest to determine academic achievement, the results indicated a significant increase in 4 classes of mixed gender at .05 significance level, but there was no significance at 1 group of female class. A paired-samples t test analysis was run on the pre- and posttest to get an attitude score, the results showed, the posttest scores decreased for 5 groups even though it was not statistically significant. Finally, in responses to an open-ended question about students' perceptions of their improvement in skills, the 3 most frequently identified skills were teamwork, design process, knowledge.
This study attempts to measure the critical thinking disposition and problem-solving ability levels of dental hygiene students and to investigate their correlation. A self-administered survey was conducted with respect to dental hygiene students from three-year colleges in Busan, Ulsan and the Gyeongsangbuk-do region between April 2013 and May 2013. A total of 649 surveys were subject to a final analysis. Critical thinking disposition of the dental hygiene students resulted in a score of 3.20 out of a total of 5.0. Freshmen, students with high academic performance results, students with good interpersonal relations, students with a high level of satisfaction regarding major subject and clinical training and students with no clinical training experience showed a high score for critical thinking disposition. Problem-solving ability of the dental hygiene students resulted in a score of 3.06 out of a total of 5.0. Students with high academic performance results, students with good interpersonal relations and students with a high level of satisfaction regarding major subject and clinical training showed a high score for problem-solving ability. It was found that critical thinking disposition and problem-solving ability had a pure correlation. The critical thinking disposition appeared to problem solving, interpersonal relations, major factors affect satisfaction, was a critical thinking disposition, academic factors affect the ability to problem solve. Regarding education for dental hygiene students, the reinforcement of training to increase critical thinking and problem-solving abilities is necessary and the development of an educational curriculum and change in educational environment that can increase interpersonal skills and communication skills is necessary.
In accordance with the rapidly changing social environment, it is becoming more important to cultivate creative and convergent practical talents with flexible thinking skills and problem-solving skills. Therefore, it is necessary for universities to provide educational experiences that enable students to cooperate and converge multidisciplinaryly to carry out on-the-job projects based on what they have learned at school. Therefore, this study designed, developed, and operated with the aim of cultivating creative talents with integrated problem-solving ability through a multidisciplinary capstone design curriculum based on industry-academia cooperation. To this end, the curriculum was developed together by recruiting participating companies and forming a convergence professor team, and it was operated for 15 weeks for students majoring in cosmetics engineering at D University. After the education was over, learning satisfaction and perceived academic achievement were surveyed, and as a result of the analysis, it was found to be above average with 3.77 points and 3.86 points, respectively. And as a result of the in-depth interview on the participation experience, five themes related to the positive experience and three themes related to the negative experience were derived. This study will be able to provide basic data when operating a multidisciplinary convergence capstone design curriculum based on industry-academia cooperation in the future.

Due to the decrease in the school-age population, the number of freshmen at local college who lack basic learning skills is increasing. Thus, C college has been running a basic learning ability improvement clinic program. This paper is a case study that investigates the effect of basic learning ability improvement clinic programs on major class immersion, efficacy, and major class satisfaction. In 2022, a total of 459 students were surveyed, including 238 students who participated in online and offline classes for basic learning ability improvement clinics and 221 students who did not participate in classes. Data processing was performed using SPSS Ver. 26.0 was used. The results of this study are as follows. First, among the sub-factors of academic self-efficacy, the group participating in the basic learning ability improvement clinic showed significant differences in task difficulty preference and confidence. Second, the class participation group showed a significant difference in learning immersion in major classes. Third, the class participation group showed significant differences in all sub-factors of major satisfaction. In conclusion, it was found that the basic learning ability improvement clinic class had a significant effect on academic self-efficacy, learning immersion, and major satisfaction.
