  • The design trend of train nose has been developed through interrelation of social culture and trains. Along with the changes of social culture and train nose of the advanced railway countries (United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, Korea) have been divided into the 6 periods from the 1800's to 2008. First, the design changes on the Image scale, Munsell system, Design positioning map of train nose have been confirmed. Second, the design trend of train nose through social culture has been analyzed. Last, the research on the design trend on train nose of each country has been done. The result shows that the design trend of train nose is a progressively structural, practical, popular, humane, eco-friendly and state-of-the-art design trend.

  • This study analyzed the healing effect of the design elements of healing environment from the perspective of environmental stress, which is one of the contents of environmental psychology. By examining the objective healing effects of the design elements of the healing environment, this study attempted to prepare a theoretical basis for contributing to the construction of a systematic and systematic healing environment. This study consists of three phases. Firstly, three environmental stress theories (Attention Recovery Theory, Evolutionary Psychology, and Environmental Stress Model) were examined to review the academic basis of which the theoretical concept of the healing environment has been derived and developed. Second, we analyzed 16 previous research on the design elements of healing environment and used them as an analysis framework of this study. Thirdly, 11 foreign studies that proved the healing effects of healing environment design elements through objective research methods were considered and analyzed as an analysis framework, and the basis for applying design elements in constructing healing environment was prepared. The research results are as follows. First, the concept of healing environment was developed from Lazarus's psychological stress theory and Ulrich's theory of evolutionary psychology, suggesting that it can be used as one of the noninvasive healing tools that affect stress reduction. Second, the healing environment design elements could be divided into 15 factors and categorized as physical environment, psychological environment, and social environment, and it was found that most of them were mentioned and studied in the previous research in order of nature-friendly, aesthetic, and openness. Third, most of the previous research on the healing effects of the design elements of the healing environment were related to natural affinity and aesthetics, and it was found that the visual elements of the healing environment could affect the actual stress reduction.

  • This research considered the city design and public arts theory. As a result, planning ability lacks in the existing mural arts. It were discovered to not coincide with the demands of time. This research attempted practical approach by expanding to public spaces rather than being limited to artistic section. For one of the case, the mural of Jurye Girl's Middle School located in Busan was selected. As a result, the mural that included culture discovered that mural matches well with city's public environment. We conducted survey. 107 participants was randomly selected as students and neighbors in Jure girl's middle school. The results of it reveals that environmentally friendly tendency and cultural implication are relatively higher than others. Mural arts have been focused as space where people live along with the progress of civilization and development of our society. It is important how the relationship between modern public environment space and mural arts shall harmonize. This research proposes social values that can replace the special mood by adding vitalization and liveliness to public environment through various mural contents.

  • Recently, there are many children's hospitals which medical facilities are need to be improved in China. Except medical facilities, the environmental element-children's emotional security and mental development-were often been ignored. The waiting space is a place for the formation of the impression of hospital and the important space of spatial constitution for emotional security. It is necessary to provide a friendly environment for children. Previous studies showed there are three factors that affected healing environment in children's hospitals' waiting space: physical, psychological and conduct. The result showed that Chinese children's hospitals performed better in physical factor, but lack of psychological and conduct factor based on the case study of 6 children's hospitals in Beijing. In order meet the needs of patients and protectors better, the main purpose of this study is provide the suggestion for improving the healing environment from the perspective of design.

  • In this research, a way to design a more convenient road for walking by creating more pedestrian space for streets located in busy areas due to many people crowded together was looked into. A symbol or characteristic was given to the street representing the image or regional culture of the area, and effort was given to create convenient yet characteristic street landscape by turning an environmentally sound, open area into pedestrian space. The basic concept of pedestrian space design was taken as the correlations between physical and psychological factors that appear on the environmental aspect of landscape. Areas for which it was difficult to come up with, a method to create a unique open space for pedestrians was looked into by analyzing with other known cases where the pedestrian area landscape was compared with that of the area in question.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of healing environments of the wards in women's hospitals. A evaluation checklist of the healing environment was applied to seven women's hospitals that have constructed or remodeled since 2000. The findings indicate that the comfort was well considered in most spaces, while the privacy and the nature-friendliness were insufficient. The lacks of balconies, terraces, landscapes, and water spaces for the nature-friendliness were also problematic. Among the patients' room, corridor, and patients' lounge, the lounge was the most negative in terms of healing environments. In order to improve the patients' privacy, soundproofing materials and buffer zones in the lounge should be considered. The future study needs to develop advanced survey and interview methodologies in order to support the relevant results.

  • The end of the 20th century, on the ecological world-view which looks the whole things as systematic and admits the incessant change, human is considered to function with the environment mutually and to evolve in harmony with it. Because of the living style of the modern people whose most time spent inside of the buildings, eco-office elements are introduced in the inteior places where many general publics are gathered. We gather up the all information about Eco-office, introduction of green building certification system, Eco-office System Technics and provide source to how to design interact with eco-office.
