The effects of Growth Needs and Job-esteem on Customer Orientation (호텔직원의 성장욕구와 직업존중감이 고객지향성에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구는 호텔직원의 성장욕구와 직업존중감이 고객지향성에 미치는 영향과 심리적 주인의식이 직원의 고객지향성의 관계에 미치는 매개효과에 대해 연구하였으며 서울지역에 소재한 특급호텔 직원을 대상으로 실증분석을 시행하였다. 그 결과, 직원의 성장욕구와 직업존중감이 고객지향성에 유의한 영향력이 있고 심리적 주인의식이 직원의 성장욕구와 직업존중감과 고객지향성의 관계에 완전한 매개효과를 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 호텔 인사담당자를 위한 직원관리에 대한 이론적 의미와 시사점 그리고 향후연구방향을 제시하였다.

  • The purpose of this study is to difference of the recognition for self-efficacy which staffs of deluxe hotel. This study aimed at: The first, I measure recognizing for self-efficacy which staffs at the first grade Hotel and the second grade hotel. The second, self-efficacy is factor analyzes for the study. The third, I study a difference of self-efficacy the first grade Hotel and between the second grade Hotel staffs. The fourth, I study whether there is a difference in recognition of self-efficacy by each demographic characteristic in Hotel staffs. To research and analyze, survey was conducted to 400 employees working at deluxe hotels in Seoul and 352 survey data were analyzed. The results come up with: The first, As for the recognition of self-efficacy the first grade Hotel and the second grade Hotel staffs, there was the difference that a level of significance. The second, marriage, major, educational background, work period and income level were the difference that a level of significance.

A Study on the Subjectivity of Hotel Employees about Followership (팔로워십에 대한 호텔직원의 주관성 연구)

  • This study aims to identify the types and characteristics of followership perceived by hotel employees as emotional workers in terms of the diagnosis of their fellowship awareness toward their managers and the detailed patterns of subjective followership. The Q methodology is applied to find out the types of followership of hotel employees, the similarities and differences between each type, and the meanings of each type. A total of 40 questions are selected for the Q sample. The analysis shows that there are four types such as 'organizational oriented', 'individual oriented', 'adaptive oriented' and 'critical passive oriented'. It also shows that each type has a unique characteristic, and identifies the items in the all four types that they share or do not. This study is expected to present a new perspective on hotel management by identifying the characteristics of the followership from the perspective of the hotel staff who are supposed to do some emotional labor caused by the emotional dissonance hotel staff suffer.

  • The purpose of this study is to research service industry employees performance in Seoul's deluxe hotels can improve based on aspects of growth needs in professional development, job esteem, and customer orientation. How growth needs and job-esteem affect employees' customer orientation is important to try and discover the mediating effect that the employees' psychological ownership contributes to the relationship between growth needs, job-esteem, and customer orientation. According to the results, growth needs and job-esteem effect to customer orientation and an employees' psychological ownership has a mediating effect between growth needs, job-esteem and customer orientation. Based on these findings, critical theoretical and practical implications, as well as future research suggestions, have been provided for hotel managers to aid in employee management.

  • Although the hotel industry in China has shown great growth both quantitatively and qualitatively, there is a lack of management of employees who represent hotels in direct contact with customers. Therefore, this study examined the social support of Chinese 4, 5 star hotel employees in Shanghai as supervisory support, coworker support, and family support, and examined whether the social support of employees improves resilience and affects their psychological well-being. In order to analyze this, we surveyed 322 employees of Shanghai 4, 5 star hotels in China. Empirical analysis showed that supervisory support and family support had a positive effect on their resilience, while coworker support did not. In addition, the resilience of hotel employees has a positive effect on their psychological well-being. This study aims to provide a better understanding of social support and resilience, and to provide effective management of human resources management.

  • The social intelligence, ability of social harmony and relationship was one of the key factor for hotel service quality. and then inquired the relationships among customer-facing employee's social intelligence of hotel, cooperation of employee, and individual performance. Through the theoretical consideration, concept of social intelligence was established, then we set up the hypothesis for causality relationship. The 201 customer-facing employee of a luxury hotel in Korea were analyzed. According to the results, social intelligence of customer-facing employee effects to cooperation of employee and individual performance positively as well. Cooperation of employee has been confirmed on a positive effect on individual performance. That is, social intelligence is social relationships to effectively building and maintaining a positive and essential skills to leading a substantial performance. Based on the empirical results, meanings, implications, and future research suggestions of social intelligence are discussed.

  • 최근 항공 산업 발전으로 여행객들의 수가 증가하고 있으며, 호텔 이용객 수도 더불어 증가하는 추세이다. 호텔 이용객의 증가로 시설 이용 시 서비스 지연과 혼잡 그리고 서비스 품질 저하 등이 발생하게 되면서 호텔 이용객들의 시설 이용 만족도가 하락하게 되고 또한 호텔 근무 직원들의 업무 피로도가 높아지고 누적되면서 직업 만족도가 떨어지는 연쇄적인 문제점들이 발생하고 있다. 본 연구는 호텔에 방문하는 이용객들에게 캐리어 운반과 객실 안내 및 호출 서비스 등 각종 서비스 업무를 직원 대신 수행하게 되면서 현 문제점들을 어느 정도 경감시키고 이에 따라 고객 만족도 및 호텔 직원들의 업무 만족도를 증가시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Effects of Five-star Hotel Frontline Employees' Emotional Labor on Physical/Mental Stress and Extra-role Behavior (호텔 직원의 감정노동이 육체적·정신적 스트레스와 역할 외 행동에 미치는 영향: 특1급 호텔 일선 직원을 대상으로)

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among hoteliers' emotional labor like surface acting (SA) and deep acting (DA), job stress such as physical stress (PS) and mental stress (MS), and extra-role behavior (EB). Using data from 264 surveys collected from five-star hotels' employees, the author empirically tested the research model. Main results on applying structural equation analysis are as follows. (1) SA had positive impacts on both PS and JS while DA was negatively significant on only MS. (2) ER was influenced by DA while there was no significance on SA. (3) MS was negatively related to ER, and PS was also significantly effective; however, the estimate of PS indicated a positive correlation unlike theoretical prediction. In conclusion, a discussion about the interesting phenomenon was held based on self-rewarding acts.

  • This study aims to find the influential relation amongst Big 5 personality factors, job involvement and customer orientation of hotel employees and to provide methods to develop their personality factors suitable for a organization Firstly, detailed verification findings of regression analysis on Big 5 personality factors and job involvement were suggested as following; Job attachment of hotel employees influenced their extroversion and friendliness. Also, sincerity and stability had significant effects on job responsibility and task significance had significant. Secondly, regression analysis was performed to identify the results of job involvement and customer orientation and the detailed verification results are as following; Satisfaction of customers' needs had significant effect on job attachment and job responsibility. In addition, service for response to customers' contacts meaningfully influenced job responsibility and task significance.

The results of the study were as follows. First, intrinsic work value had a effect on job attachment, job responsibility, job importance.
