Narrative Strategy of UHD TV Human Documentary:Focusing on (UHD TV휴먼다큐멘터리 서사전략: <순례-집으로 가는 길>을 중심으로)

  • As with all narrative forms based on media, the narrative method of TV human documentary is closely related to the change of broadcasting environment. In 2017, the world's first terrestrial UHD broadcast was launched in Korea, and in September of that year, KBS broadcasted the UHD special documentary series. , made of UHD capable of ultra-high definition video and immersive audio, showed a narrative approach completely different from the existing TV human documentary. Instead of all-out narration, which was considered an essential element in the TV human documentary, it used the modest first-person narration of the characters, while actively using drones capable of various compositions to express the psychology of the characters in detail and enable viewers' immersion. In addition, the Montage editing technique, an editing method that has not been attempted in TV human documentaries, utilizes the narrative development method of 'showing' as a video without 'explaining' with narration. After , many similar narrative documentaries are broadcast, and the flow and direction of TV human documentaries are changing under UHD broadcasting environment.

Designing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Application for Children with Severe and Multiple Disabilities (중도중복장애아동을 위한 보완대체 의사소통(AAC) 앱 설계)

  • In this study, specific elements and functions in modules of the AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) application for children with severe and multiple disabilities were elicited, and screen interface was designed accordingly. As results, screen configuration, communication display edition, audiovisual output, and switch and scanning modules were defined. Screen configuration module consists of communication category, spelling board, favorites, screen lock, and setting function. The Communication display edition module includes communication categories, symbols, and favorites edition. The audiovisual output module provides the ability to adjust the pitch, intensity, speed, and tone of the voice individually in the form of auditory output. In the form of visual output, the background color and size of the frame, border color and thickness are adjusted. The switch and scanning module provides a function to select by pressing the switch when the symbol cell is highlighted audibly and visually. The development of the AAC application designed in this study is needed.

  • SGML, defined as the ISO 8879, is a meta-language to define a document type, used as basic format for electronic documents. Since an SGML document is composed of a document type definition and a document instance conforms to the definition, it is necessary for SGML document authoring tools to compose and validate document type and document instance. In present, formal models and procedures for SGML documents are not defined, it's not easy to construct such tools. We propose a model of SGML authoring tool consists of SGML parser, document type definition editor, SGML document editor and style editor. We also introduce and implement formal procedure for each component. For user convenience, we adopted icon based visual programming method, and solved the HANGUL problems. The SGML authoring tool is implemented I Windows NT system using java and C++ programming language.

Indoor Scene Classification based on Color and Depth Images for Automated Reverberation Sound Editing (자동 잔향 편집을 위한 컬러 및 깊이 정보 기반 실내 장면 분류)

  • The reverberation effect on the sound when producing movies or VR contents is a very important factor in the realism and liveliness. The reverberation time depending the space is recommended in a standard called RT60(Reverberation Time 60 dB). In this paper, we propose a scene recognition technique for automatic reverberation editing. To this end, we devised a classification model that independently trains color images and predicted depth images in the same model. Indoor scene classification is limited only by training color information because of the similarity of internal structure. Deep learning based depth information extraction technology is used to use spatial depth information. Based on RT60, 10 scene classes were constructed and model training and evaluation were conducted. Finally, the proposed SCR + DNet (Scene Classification for Reverb + Depth Net) classifier achieves higher performance than conventional CNN classifiers with 92.4% accuracy.

  • An Infotainment Service intended to enhance the human emotion is introduced in this paper. The service is to be installed on the robot helping elderly persons to live comfortable and enjoyable life. The research started with defining the undesirable status of emotion in everyday life, and the psychological skills to cope with the status were sought about. Then, a methodology for providing emotion contents reflecting the coping skill has been suggested. Based on the Cognitive Behavior Therapy, the coping skill is used to edit animation clips. A movie recommendation system to utilize the edited animation clips has been being developed. A series of process for developing the system is described, where the emotion elements are taken into consideration in addition to the user preference as the criterion for recommendation.

  • In implementing a computerized virtual training system, the auditory element is responsible for the human cognitive ability following visual elements. Especially, the improvement of hearing ability is closely related to the performance of the training, and it contributes to improvement of the training effect. In this paper, we propose a sound system that is necessary for constructing such a virtual training system as a test system that can use a sound source using a head related transfer function (HRTF). Functional and auditory tests were performed to evaluate system performance.

  • In order to improve working speed, add more functions and provide better user interface of ASADAL, the AWT based Java application to support FORM Software Product Line Development Methodology; we had to reengineer this application to be Eclipse based plug-in application.   • 본 논문에서는 다양한 촉감 구성 요소들을 조합하여 촉감 정보를 생성하는 촉감 조합기를 개발하고, 개발된 촉감 조합기를 인스턴트 메신저 기반의 촉감 공유 시스템에 적용하였다. 촉감 공유 시스템은 촉감의 시각적 정보를 담고 있는 배경 이미지와 그 위에 기록되는 촉감 정보를 관리하는 촉감보드를 원격지의 사용자와 실시간으로 공유하는 환경 공유 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 촉감 공유 시스템을 최근 인스턴트 메신저 서비스에서 제공하는 간단한 플러그인 형태로 개발하였다. 따라서, 본 시스템을 위해 개발된 촉감 조합기는 사람의 촉감 정보를 구성하는 주요 요소들만으로 간단히 정의하고, 생성 및 편집, 공유를 목적으로 설계하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 영환 기계번역 시스템 ALKOL의 개발 과정에서 사용된 분산 환경을 사전 구축과 테스트 환경을 중심으로 설명한다. 번역 시스템 개발은 시스템 개발자, 사전 개발자, 검사자(tester)의 세 요소를 중심으로 이루어지는 작업으로, 효율적인 개발을 위해서는 개발 요소의 작업이 독립적으로 진행되면서 유기적으로 연결될 수 있는 환경이 마련되어야 한다. ALKOL에서는 이를 위하여 번역 시스템을 번역 서버, 사전 서버, 사전 편집기, 사용자 인터페이스 클라이언트/서버 분산 환경으로 구성하고 검사자를 위한 테스트 환경을 제공하여 효율적인 번역 시스템 개발 환경을 구축한다. 번역 시스템을 분산 환경에서 개발하여 시스템 개발자, 사전 개발자, 검사자가 각자의 작업을 병렬적으로 진행할 수 있고 실시간으로 갱신되는 시스템과 사전 정보를 이용하여 작업을 진행할 수 있어 번역 시스템 개발의 효율성을 높일 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 영상 및 동영상 편집 툴을 사용하여 2D 동영상을 3D 입체영상으로 변환하는 절차를 분석하고, 변환 과정에서 나타나는 비효율적 요소 및 자동화 가능 요소 등을 분류한다. 또한, 기존의 3D 입체영상 변환 도구의 종류 및 한계점을 분석하고, 분석 내용을 기반으로 3D 입체 영상 변환 전용도구의 필수 기능을 설계한다.
