Characteristics of Finite Difference Methods for the Shallow Water Equation (천수방정식의 유한차분 특성)

  • Numerical characteristics for the shallow water equation are analyzed with ADI, Hansen, Heaps, Richtmyer and MacCormack schemes. Stability, CPU time and accuracy are investigated for the linear model which has analytic solutions and circulation is simulated for the nonlinear model. The results show that ADI method has some defects in CPU time and accuracy for the computation of velocity. But ADI method simulates circulation well and has the largest stability region. Richtmyer scheme is the best among the other explicit schemes. Effective viscosity term is found to be essential for numerical experiments of the shallow water equation.

만에 적용되는 천수방정식의 개방경계조건

  • Shallow water equations were applied to the flow in and through the opening to a coastal bay with different open boundary conditions. The open boundaries, shaped like a semi-circle, have various radii. the open boundaries therefore are defined in terms of radius given by multiple of the opening width, 2B. It was found from numerical experiments that for adequate results proper radius of the boundary is 3B or greater and that for radius greater than 3B the solutions become stable. For the solution of the shallow water equations a typical Galerkin's finite element method was used.

  • 빈발하고 있는 대규모 홍수와 자연재해는 정확도가 높은 하천 흐름 수치해석 모델에 대한 관심의 증대로 이어지고 있다. 현재 하천에서 발생하는 일반적인 흐름은 기존에 개발된 여러 형태의 천수방정식을 지배방정식으로 하는 수치기법에 의해 해석되고 있으나, 연속적이지 않은 형태의 흐름을 해석하거나 매우 정확한 해석을 필요로 하는 경우에는 기존의 수치해석기법은 많은 한계를 보여 주고 있다. 본 연구에서는 불연속 갤러킨 기법 기반의 흐름 모델을 개발하고, 이를 이용하여 천이류로 분류되는, 댐 붕괴파, 둔덕위 흐름과 2차원 사류의 모의에 적용하여 기존의 수치해와 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

  • 직립 구조물을 지나는 천수 흐름의 해석에서 구조물에 의한 영향이 지배적인 그 전면과 비교적 덜한 그 위의 영역으로 구분하여 흐름률을 계산하는 새로운 기법이 제안되었으며, 그 모의 결과는 정확해, 가상의 문제에 대한 3차원 모의 결과, 그리고 실험 결과와 대체로 만족스런 일치를 보였다(Hwang, 2015; Hwang, 2016). 또한, Hwang (2019)은 측면 위어에 대한 부정류 실험(Kim, 2013)에서 직립의 측면 위어를 통해 수로와 저류지 사이의 흐름이 교환되는 실험 경우에 적용하여 새로운 기법에 의한 수치 모형을 시험한 바 있다. 이 연구에서는 측면 위어에 대한 Kim (2013)의 나머지 실험 경우에 대해서도 Hwang (2015)의 기법을 적용하여 불연속 지형을 이루는 직립 측면 위어의 월류량을 평가하였다.

  • Hwang(2015)은 불연속 지형을 지나는 천수 흐름의 수치 해석에서 불연속 전면에 의한 추력(thrust)에 주목하여 그 영향을 흐름률(flux) 계산에 반영하는 새로운 기법을 제시하였다. 이 기법 덕분에 수심 적분 모형으로도 계단이나 보와 같이 직립한 하천 구조물의 불연속면을 경사로 완화하지 않고 직접 모의할 수 있다. 직립 측면 위어 실험에 Hwang(2015)의 기법이 적용됨으로써 연직면을 경사면으로 완화하여야 하는 기존의 수심 적분 모형에 비해 계산 격자 개수가 53%로 줄었다(Hwang, 2019). Hwang(2019)은 기존 모형과 비교를 통해, 정확도를 어느 정도 유지하면서도, 소요된 계산 시간이 20%에 불과하다고 주장하였다. 여기에서는 보다 다양한 직립 광정 위어 실험에 적용하여 수심 적분 모형에 의한 월류량을 검토하고자 한다.

Community Structure and Health Assessment of Macrobenthic Assemblages at Spring and Summer in Cheonsu Bay, West Coast of Korea (천수만에 서식하는 대형저서동물의 춘계와 하계의 군집구조 및 건강도 평가)

  • This study was performed to investigate the community structure and health assessment of macrobenthic assemblages in Cheonsu Bay, West Coast of Korea. Total species number was 224 and mean density was $1,940ind./m^2$, both of which were dominated by polychaete worms (111 species and $1,213ind./m^2$). In terms of density, the major dominant species were the bivalve Theora fragilis ($280{\pm}213ind./m^2$), the polychaetes Heteromastus filiformis ($254{\pm}218ind./m^2$), Lumbrineris longifolia ($216{\pm}41ind./m^2$), Mediomastus californiensis ($158{\pm}97ind./m^2$) and the amphipod Eriopisella sechellensis ($167{\pm}100ind./m^2$). As a result of community statistics (cluster analysis and nMDS ordination), the macrobenthic community structure was classified two major groups (inner and mouth of bay) and two stations (station 2 near Ganwol dyke in spring and summer). The Benthic Pollution Index (BPI) and AZTI's Marine Biotic Index (AMBI) were applied to assess the benthic ecological status. During the sampling periods, the BPI Index values varied between 11 (bad status) and 92 (high status). On the other hand, the AMBI Index values was ranged between 1.34 (good status) and 4.39 (poor status). In conclusion, in terms of the mean BPI and AMBI Index values, the ecological status of Cheonsu Bay were moderate status (ecotone stage) and good status, respectively.

A Study on Suitable Site Selection of Blood Clams (Tegillarca granosa) using Habitat Suitability Factors in Tidal Flat, Cheonsu and Garolim Bays (천수만, 가로림만 갯벌에서 서식지 적합인자를 이용한 꼬막 적지선정 연구)

  • It is necessary to explore the possibility of alternative habitats and research the characteristics of basic habitats due to seeding, culturing and harvesting of blood clams (Tegillarca granosa) in tidal flats. Currently, dependence on naturally occurring spat is much higher than in other species, which may lead to a reduction in biological resources. In this study, we selected a total of 5 sites (Changgi, Hopo in Cheonsu Bay and Dangsan, Sachang, Wangsan in Garolim Bay) and examined habitat suitability factors for suitable site selection. Also, we considered the relationship of habitat suitability factors (Environment: water content, organic content; survival: mud content, mean size; growth: chlorophyll a). As a result, Wangsan had the highest score of the main habitat of blood clams (Habitat suitability score, Wangsan: 87; Dangsan: 86; Sachang: 81; Hopo: 78; and Changgi: 73). The sediment in Garolim Bay was fine-grained and the seasonal variation was lower than Cheonsu Bay. Therefore, it is considered that Garolim Bay is more suitable as a potential area and easy to utilize the space. In the future, search and selection of potential suitable sites could be considered to solve problems caused by the reduction of biological resources and the production for blood clams.

Evaluating Limiting Nutrients through Long-term Data Analyses and Bioassay Experiments in Cheonsu Bay and Taean Sea (장기자료 분석과 생물검정실험을 이용한 천수만과 태안해역의 제한영양염 평가)

  • Long-term data analyses and bioassay experiments were conducted to assess limiting nutrients in Cheonsu Bay and Taean sea. First, long-term nutrient data (2004-2016) provided by the National Water Quality Monitoring Network were used to assess potential limiting nutrients. Analysis of the long-term data showed that the dissolved inorganic nitrogen/dissolved inorganic phosphate (DIN/DIP) ratio was mostly below 16, with N limitation being dominant. A subsequent analysis using the concentration ratios of N, P, and Si showed that N limitation was dominant during summer and autumn but that Si limitation occasionally occurred during winter and spring in relatively limited areas. However, the dominant limiting nutrient was not determined. The nutrient analysis of the field water collected during the bioassay experiment showed that DIN/DIP revealed P limitation at all stations in March and May, whereas N limitation was dominant in July and October. In the analysis using the concentration ratios of N, P, and Si, P and Si limitation appeared in March and May, but there were points with no dominant limiting nutrient. However, N limitation was dominant in July and October. In the bioassay experiment for assessment of the actual limiting nutrient, the results showed no specific limiting nutrient in March, whereas NH4+ and NO3- showed responses in May, July, and October, which confirmed that N was a substantial limiting nutrient directly involved in phytoplankton growth during this period.

A Study on Comparison of Later Commentaries about Kyeokguk theory of Jeokcheonsu (『적천수(滴天髓)』 격국론의 후대 평주 간 비교연구)

  • This study used a method of comparing and analyzing various editions of Jeokcheonsu, and aims to confirm why different views have arisen on commentaries that differ according to the perspective of one original text, which interpretation is more valid among them. The biggest part of the misunderstanding of Myeongri theory in Jeokcheonsu is Kyeokguk theory. Jeokcheonsu does not set a high value on Kyeokguk, and it is highly regarded as the Myeongri classics that emphasizes Eokbuyongsin. However, as a result of classifying the original text by theory, we can see there are about 5 sentences that directly mention Eokbu theory, but 9 sentences that explain Kyeokguk theory and 15 sentences if we include the sentences that explain Jonggyeok and Hwagyeok. Even looking that metaphoric speech is mainly used, it is also clear that it's not a book written to be read by a beginner of Myeongri. This is Myeongri texts written to convey more profound logic and enlightenment to a person who has sufficient knowledge by having learned the principle of Myeongri. A single sentence of 'Jaegwaninsubunpyeonjeong Gyeomronsiksanggyeokgukjeong' would have been sufficient to explain the Kyeokguk theory, because it's written on the assumption of the reader's level. Among the later commentaries about the theory of Myeongri contained in Jeokcheosu, 4 persons'commentaries on the original text of 'Palkyeok', 'Gwansal', Sangkwan', 'Wolryeong', 'Saengsi', 'Cheongtak' related to Kyeokguk theory was compared and analyzed.

  • Lax-Wendroff 기법을 기반의 천수방정식에 대한 유한요소 모형을 낙동강 상류부 단호교 지역에 적용하였다. 모형의 검증을 위하여 이동경계에 대한 Thacker (1981)의 정확해와 침수-노출 기법(wet-dry scheme)을 이용한 본 모형의 수치해를 비교하여 대체로 잘 일치함을 알게 되었다. 또한, U자형 만곡부를 포함한 수로의 흐름에 적용하여, 기존의 수리실험 결과, 수치모의 결과와 비교하고, 모형의 적용 가능성을 확인하였다. 낙동강 상류지역에 위치한 단호교 지역에 본 모형을 적용하고, 이를 기존 유한차분법에 의한 수치해와 비교하였다.
