The Effects of Gambling Game Play on Adolescents' Morality - Focus on the Personal Trait (사행성 게임 이용이 청소년의 도덕성에 미치는 영향 - 개인 내적 요인을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of the study was the defining of gambling game using effect to adolescent's' morality. We conducted the survey on 1,331 students about adolescents' favorite game and made two groups, gambling and non-gambling game, and we checked the effects of game using time with personal psychological and social factors on the morality that was surveyed 6 months later. The study showed gambling game using time showed negative effect the morality but non-gambling game using time didn't show any relationship with morality. This means preferring gambling cause decrease of the morality, not game contents playing. And we proposed the follow-up study through the result.

Effects of Group Art Therapy Program on Body Image and Self-esteem in College Women (집단미술요법이 여대생의 신체상과 자존감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the study was to determine the effects of the 8-week, 16-session group art therapy program on body image and self-esteem in college women. Method: Data collected by self-reported questionnaires from 58 college women in Inchon who were selected by criteria of this study, from the 6 of March to 10 of May, 2002. The 11 experimental group participated in a 8-week group art therapy program. Descriptive statistics, homogeneity test, hypothesis, and reliability test were performed statistically by utilizing SPSS PC+ 8.0 program. Result: 1. 'The experimental group showed significantly higher scores in body image than the comparison group. 2. No significant differences were found between two groups in self-esteem. Conclusion: The findings showed the possibility of applying group art therapy as an effective intervention for clients with negative body image to improve their body image.

Psychometric Properties of the Korean Children's Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire (K-CRSQ) (한국판 아동용 거부민감성질문지의 심리측정적 속성)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the psychometric properties of the Korean Children's Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire (K-CRSQ). In order to investigate the reliability and validity of the K-CRSQ, the data were collected from 286 elementary students. The results are as follow : Internal consistency and test -retest reliability of the K-CRSQ were .83~.89, .72~.79, respectively. To test the convergent and discriminant validity, participants were separated into two samples and administered the K-CRSQ and ten validity indices. The correlation of K-CRSQ and validity indices scores suggested that the convergent and discriminant validity are high. High rejection sensitivity group revealed high score on intentional attribution, depression, anxiety, and aggression. In contrast, low rejection sensitivity group revealed high score on self-esteem, perceived competence, and social support. The results were compared with previous studies and the implication and limitation were discussed.

A Comparative study on the difference between purchaser and non-purchaser of Imported counterfeit luxury goods (수입명품의 복제품 구매자와 비구매자 비교연구)

  • The purpose of this study compare the difference between purchaser of counterfeit goods and non-purchaser about how self-esteem and conformity influence upon purchase intention of luxury counterfeits goods. Until existing research on purchase intention of luxury counterfeit goods have focused on the consumers' sense of superiority such as conspicuous consumption, hedonic consumption and symbolic consumption. This thesis, however, has focused on individual's psychological variables such as self-esteem and influence of reference group. The results are as follows. The purchaser of counterfeit goods tend to depend on others heavily and show a high purchase intention. On the other hand, the non-purchaser with high self-esteem are less inclined to buy counterfeit goods, and purchase intention level will also be lowed down. This thesis tries to support the assumption that personal psychological difference exist between purchaser and non-purchaser, and this result seems to correspond with the preceding studies.

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the effects of the enneagram group counseling program on self-esteem, anxiety and interpersonal relationships in nursing students. Methods: The study was designed using a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants consisted of 52 nursing students (26 in the experimental group and 26 in the control group). Nursing students in the experiment group participated in the enneagram group counseling program. The data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 14.0 program. Results: The anxiety level of the experimental group decreased significantly from those in the control group. However, self-esteem and interpersonal relationships in the experimental group were not different from those in the control group. Conclusions: The enneagram group counseling program was effective in decreasing anxiety for nursing students.

PSYCHOSOCIAL VULNERABILITIES OF CHILD-ADOLESCENT INTERNET ADDICTS (인터넷 중독 소아-청소년의 심리사회적 취약성)

  • This study investigated the psychosocial characteristics of children and adolescents who were addicted to internet. 1107 children and adolescents were administered several self-report inventories assessing internet addiction, internet expectancy, self-control, parent-adolescent communication, parent control of internet, peer relation, and loneliness. Results indicated that internet addicted adolescents had more expectancy for internet, less self-control, more dysfunctional communication with parents, and more withdrawn from peers than non-addicted. To determine relative contributions of these variables, multiple regression was conducted. It was demonstrated that internet expectancy, self-control, dysfunctional parentadolescent communication, and parent control of internet explained adolescent internet addiction.

Effects of a Positive Peer Relationship Training Program on Self-Esteem, Bullying, and Depression for Children in Early Adolescence (또래관계증진훈련 프로그램이 청소년 초기 아동의 자존감, 집단따돌림 및 우울에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the effects of the Positive Peer Relationship Training Program on self-esteem, bullying, and depression. Methods: The research design was a quasi-experimental research with a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized pre-posttest. The recruited participants were forty-four 6th graders at an elementary school in G city. The research was carried out from September 10 to November 19, 2012. To test the effects of the Positive Peer Relationship Training Program, the participants were divided into two groups, an experimental group (23) and a control group (21). The Positive Peer Relationship Training Program was provided to the experiment group for 45 minutes/session twice a week, for 4 weeks. Data were analyzed using Fisher's exact probability test, $x^2$-test and t-test with the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: After attending the Positive Peer Relationship Training Program, no significant differences were found in self-esteem scores but significant differences were found in bullying and depression scores between the experimental group and the control group (t=1.27, p=.212, t=-2.10, p=.042; t=-2.37, p=.023). Conclusion: The results indicate that the Positive Peer Relationship Training Program is an effective nursing intervention for decreasing bullying and depression among Children in Early Adolescence.

A Study on the Effectiveness of Social Work Intervention for the Family Caregivers of Older Persons with Stroke (뇌졸중 기능손상 노인의 가족수발자에 대한 사회복지실천 개입의 효과에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of social work intervention for the family caregivers of the older persons with stroke. Twelve caregivers were assigned to either a treatment group or a control group. The treatment group intervention consisted of 8 weekly, 2-hour sessions which included education, peer and professional support, individual counselling. Wilcoxon test of the pretest and posttest scores of the two groups showed that those in the treatment program experienced significant decrease in caregiving burden and loneliness compared with caregivers who received no intervention. They also experienced increase in self-esteem, self-efficacy in dealing with caregiving tasks, satisfaction with a relationship with the care-receiver, emotional support. Most of these intervention effects were maintained in the 3-month follow-up measurement except loneliness and the caregiver-carereceiver relationship. Caregivers in the treatment group showed overall satisfaction with the program and willingness to continue to attend in the interventions. Based on these findings, implications for social work practice including self-help groups, psychotherapy for the caregivers, expanding social work intervention for the family caregivers of the older persons were discussed.

Factors Affecting Gender-Role Stereotype (성역할 고정관념에 영향을 미치는 요인 : 성인기 인구 집단을 중심으로)

  • This study set out to investigate factors affecting gender-role stereotype. Data came from National Welfare Panel Study of 2010 and the final sample size were 4,196 women and 3,703 men in Korea. Hierarchical regression analysis was used for the analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, the olders, the married and the lower level of income showed more traditional gender-role attitudes. Second, the employed women have more egalitarian gender-role attitudes than the not-employed but the employed men showed more traditional gender-role attitudes. And the more educated women showed more egalitarian gender-role attitudes but men's gender-role attitudes had no difference according to the education level. Third, self-esteem did not affect gender-role attitudes. And limitations and implications of the findings from this study were discussed with respect to further studies.

Effects of Problem Drinking of Elderly on Life Satisfaction Mediated by Depression and Self-esteem: A Latent Means Analysis Application between Poor and Non-poor Elderly (노인 문제음주가 우울, 자아존중감을 매개로 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향: 빈곤노인 및 비빈곤노인 집단에 대한 잠재평균분석의 적용)

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine the structural causal relationships among problem drinking of elderly, depression, self-esteem and life satisfaction through structural Equation Modeling and also to investigate how these effects were influenced by the differences in the structural relationships between poor and non-poor elderly. The results showed the positive relationship between problem drinking and depression not also poor elderly group but non-poor elderlys'. According to Multi-group analysis, Latent means analysis where non-poor elderly are used as the reference group, poor elderly group showed higher latent mean values on the problemdrinking and depression, and lower latent mean values on the self-esteem and life satisfaction. Depression mediated the relationships between problem drinking of elderly and life satisfaction the only in a poor elderly group. The implications and limitations of this study were discussed, and the suggestions for further studies were recommended.
